  1. I've been running on Win7, working daily on a big project, with only the issues I have mentioned above, and I'm not sure those are necessarily related to this 2020.1 version. Otherwise, it's been totally fine.
  2. Customizable SmartGrid resolutions! Currently SmartGrid dynamically determines resolution depending on zoom level. I'd like to be able to edit/customize at which point SmartGrid dynamically changes its resolution AND/OR to be able to set a minimum grid resolution if going all the way down to 1 sample (for example) is not really necessary but being zoomed far in is. We can do this with manual snap to grid settings, of course. It would just make SmartGrid a little smarter!
  3. More GUI weirdness Similar to my above mentioned Saturation module issue, I've now found these two ProChannel console compressor modules to display oddly: What gives??
  4. Next is a problem regarding VST loading. When opening projects that functioned normally previously, I will variously get plugin loading errors before the project loads, such as: in which case the mentioned plugins, despite being present and perfectly functional when loading new instances, or when loading other projects saved with the same plugins, they do not load. And when replacing the "Missing" plugins with new instances of themselves, this does not restore the saved "plug-in state" mentioned in the above notice. Where is this saved state and can it be manually restored to the same plugin? In some cases this will occur for every instance of every plugin used in a project. In other similar cases I get the following after the project successfully loads : in which case I simply click OK and the plugin in mentioned loads and functions successfully with its saved state. Saving the project anew will not make this "error" disappear when next opening the project. But a simple click of OK makes everything fine every time. Still tho. Rather strange!
  5. I have noticed a couple things lately. I am not sure if they are 2020.1 related or older: First, the "Tube Saturation" module in ProChannel doesn't display its UI anymore This is the only ProChannel module to have this odd behavior (for me, so far).
  6. Yes! Colored markers and/or marker "Layers" for different definable types of markers.
  7. And with an unsupported format the video will play fine if no Trim settings are altered? This is the case with me. Only if I add Trim will I have playback issues.
  8. Ah. THanks. that answers my question on the other post. Sorry for cross-posting.
  9. I too would love to see the video aspect functioning better. I can't even get the default engine change outlined here - https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Troubleshooting.08.html to take hold (changing to Direct Show) in order to deal with Trim In-Out changes. Thanks for thinking about it!
  10. I too am having (have always has) issues with changing the Trim in and out functions for editing with video. I have edited the Config file exactly as outlined in the above linked article, adding "[Video] VideoEngine=0" (without quotes) in my text editor, saving the edited Aud.ini file, reloading the config settings, hitting Apply, even re-saving the project and closing and re-opening CW. And still the video remains with the default Media Foundation engine and my playback issues remain problematic. I can confirm the edited Aud.ini file opening in a text editor again, but there is no indication in the Preferences/Audio/Configuration File window's Properties area of any video settings, either before or after adding the above lines. I'm not sure if anything should appear there or not. Is there a specific location within that text file where these lines should be placed? I have placed mine at the end, at the beginning, and within the body of the text between other [bracketed] sections, as well as including and alternately non including the line-break between the lines as shown in the documentation - all to no effect.
  11. For sure there is something I'm not understanding in the Multi Timbral/Multi outputs enhancement Yes! Agreed! Why can we not choose the "Split instrument Track" along with the "Track per output" option with the Add Track button nor "Track per output" along with "MIDI source" in the Insert Soft Synth Options window giving us an appropriate number of split and paired MIDI/audio outs? Why when we do choose "Split Instrument Track" or "MIDI Source" it provides multiple audio tracks but only one MIDI track! The multiple pairs option is how some of us like to work in addition to sometimes having the "Simple Instrument" combo track (especially when dealing with synths with only a single stereo out). I, for one, like to have split tracks for my multi audio synths' instruments with MIDI tracks only visible (with the Track Manager) in the Track view to edit MIDI (envelopes, etc.), and the Audio tracks only visible in the Console view to mix and engineer audio. (I struck out above because I found that working with the "Simple Instrument" tracks allows for this type of workflow. Duh! Sorry.) But I still find that... Templates are still the way to go here!
  12. So, if it helps on the new multi outputs for synth tracks folder situation: For me the issue with all the tracks not being placed in the folder (when asked for) happens only when using the Add Track button in the Tracks pane. Otherwise, when I choose "Insert synth" from the Synth Rack (with the "Ask this every time" pop-up), it adds all synth tracks into the folder (when asked for) as expected. I potentially love this function! However, despite adding multiple audio tracks for all the outs that a synth presents, there is only ever one MIDI track added. Perhaps I am missing something, or this is by design? I had imagined multiple MIDI tracks each sending to each of the individual audio tracks with consecutive channel numbers. Otherwise, is there a way to have just one MIDI track with multiple lanes each sending to consecutive channels/instruments?? The answer there I'm pretty sure is "no" as I've tried and tried this with lanes. I still find it much more efficient to create Synth Track/Folder Templates with multiple MIDI/Audio tracks all appropriately connected and named and adding everything all setup in one fell swoop, as there still seems to be a lot of workflow necessary even after the new Add Track multi-outs function. Not complaining! Just saying. I deeply, deeply appreciate you all so very much!!
  13. I guess I'll add this here because it's a weird display thing. ( I haven't had the "ghost" line yet, btw) This has been happening for a while (since well before changing Windows visual preferences just today). Whenever I open my console window, notice how the Gain, Send, and Pan dials are all weird until I shrink and reopen the window.... 2019-09-06-18-03-16.mp4
  14. Right on, David! Have done this as well, and we'll see if it happens again...
  15. There is, for me, ALWAYS more to learn about the nuts and bolts of MIDI. Thank you all again!
  16. THANK YOU ! That is what I was looking for! I obviously mis-remembered. I feel so wonderfully less ignorant now. It's amazing how we just settle for things at times without diving into it to find the right way! Boom!
  17. @scook Very sorry. I saw his And in any case could not get simply those instructions to work. I was lead to the answer by @David Baay above. Thanks for the help!
  18. Ahhhh! Yes, that's it! Setting the MIDI channel to "None" in the track strip (or header) does the trick! Bloody hell, it's been years of not knowing that! I remember reading in the reference manual somewhere that these track strip MIDI settings where just the initial settings for the track, taking precedence only when RTZ or if not changed throughout track. NOW I know. Thanks!
  19. I will try that next time it happens. It has cleared now. Thanks!
  20. Unfortunately the advice in the above mentioned post did not work for me - in addition to it not working for the person in the post.
  21. Latest version of CW - 2019.07 build 79
  22. I have been unable to figure out how to do this on CW. Is it possible to change the MIDI channel of a track throughout the course of playback, or does every separate channel require its own separate track?? For an example of my issue: I am writing orchestral music to be played thru Kontakt with various string patches (Violin legato, pizzicato, tremelo, etc.) loaded and accessed thru different MIDI channels within the Kontakt instrument. I would like my music for the Violin I, say, to be all contained on one single track with certain notes calling on specific differing loaded patches on different channels. This requires a MIDI channel change at various times on a single track. I can not find how to do this successfully in CW. The desired function is similar to what in other instruments would be a "Program/bank change" within the track, but a channel change seems not possible. Going into Event inspector or context menu of the notes in question and changing the MIDI channel there has no effect, oddly. The notes continue to only play back on the initial MIDI channel as set in the track strip for that track. How can this be done?
