  1. Is there a hidden way to insert multiple markers at predetermined locations? For example: by selecting all the many clips on a track and calling for markers to be placed at all the clips' start locations? Or better yet at both the start and end boundaries! This would be a function like "auto regions" in other programs. But at least at the start boundaries... At the moment it seems markers can only being added one at time, making the case in the above example a very time consuming operation.
  2. This is precisely what I thought of doing, re-installing X3 to defaults and re-installing CbB, but I find that I no longer have the X3 installation files! Over the years since my original install, and about 4 since this latest machine and the last install there, as well as cross country moves between studios with backup drives in both, I seem to have lost track of the old Sonar files! Never should have followed that "separate drive" advice! It felt somehow wrong...
  3. I have asked this elsewhere coming off of an issue with VST scanning, but I am thinking it may be the cause of several little glitchy things for me: How reliant on the Sonar install (content, folder locations, etc.) is CbB? What is needed from the Sonar install if Sonar itself is no longer used? Or should we get rid of it if no longer needed. My installation of Sonar was onto a separate, internal SSD drive (drive E:) which was meant to be a dedicated drive for programs. This was advice that I followed at a certain time and installed a few things there. I later thought better of it and started letting programs install where they "wanted" to on the C drive. CbB was installed on the default C drive. I have odd issues with VSTs being flagged as not installed or not installed properly (these are also installed on a separate drive and have always been) despite actually being scanned (custom location is set to be scanned) and actually working. And I sometimes have issues when using the old Cakewalk instruments (TTS, Dimension, Rapture, PSYN II, etc.) and sometimes not. I believe if I want to continue to use these older instruments (Rapture, Dimension, etc.) I would not want to uninstall Sonar. Correct? So, un-install Sonar? or... Is there a way I could move (or copy) pertinent elements from that Sonar (X3 Producer) install to appropriate places on the C drive in order to function better with CbB while no longer needing to use Sonar? Or is all this, as I assume it might be, inviting disaster?? Should I revert (move) all VSTs to the Cakewalk default folder on the C drive??
  4. Ah yes! My previous Sonar installation is in fact on a separate internal SSD drive. When originally setting up this machine I had followed, perhaps mistakenly, some advice about a separate drive for programs and I did that with a few. CbB is on the default C drive. How reliant on the Sonar install is CbB? I know if I want to continue to use those older instruments (Rapture, Dimension, etc.) I would want to keep it, yes? Is there a way I could move pertinent elements from that Sonar (X3 Producer) install to better places on the C drive? Or is that, as I assume it is, inviting disaster and a Registry nightmere??
  5. Hmmm, my Reference Guide only has 1712 pages, with Staff View described starting on page 1078...
  6. ...perhaps we all (who love working in Staff View) chime in over here ....?
  7. Staff View, Staff View, Staff View!!!!! New and better functioning, all around!
  8. Yes, the Staff View DESPERATELY needs an overhaul! It is such an important part of workflow for some of us! I don't mind the PRV for many things, But I am a composer and accustomed to writing "dot and line" for harmonies, multiple parts, whatever. It's just how it is done with some of us when writing music. Of course I mostly use Sibelius for serious work in this regard, but still Cakewalk was one the the first (if not the first) to offer music notation with MIDI in a DAW, it would be nice to maintain the legacy!
  9. This works for me. But it is awkward. But Select - Shift dragging to move or Ctrl dragging to copy works for multiple notes with Select tool. You must press Shift or Ctrl before clicking. It is, however, a bit of a mystery where the notes are being moved to exactly. I just get randomly flickers rectangles that seem to want to indicate where the notes will be placed, but they disappear in the blink of an eye!

    Style Dial question

Thanks. I chimed in over at that post about my experience with those....
  11. I enabled these excluded plug-ins and find that every time I start CW now, I get this message for each of them: I simply click "OK" and the messages go away, CW starts up, and I can use the plug-ins without a problem, save the project, but then when re-opening CW after an exit, the messages appear again. The same process every time. I sometimes have this issue with some other VSTs as well. I don't understand how/why CW sees incorrect CLSIDs for plugins I have not touched, not to mentioned not changed, in years, especially these ones that have been "excluded" all this time until yesterday! Weird?
  12. Try it now - https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/messenger/572/&tab=comments#comment-3283 (I started discussing the Key Binding issue on the Aug. 30 posts) Not sure if any of it will help. I just remember going through it all and clearing double assigned shortcuts - I have added many of my own custom shortcuts over the years, not noticing that I had doubled some up with defaults (I guess) Anyway, good luck!
  13. It's definitely possible to have more than one function bound to the same keystroke shortcut! I have dealt with this hair-splitting issue for quite a while before figuring it out! Page 1067-1069 of the Reference manual deal with some of the details about bindings, like meanings of the asterisks (although not why they are black or red) and bold text indications. Besides the confusion of having/not having the key bindings associated with "Lenses"(or "Workspaces"), I have found that Key Bindings can be confusingly doubled up as discussed with Morten here (in it helps in any way) - https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/messenger/572/&tab=comments#comment-3283 Can't help with the cat, 'tho. I suggest you download and do a fresh, clean install there ! 😉

    Style Dial question

What are the actual effects that are being used beneath the hood of all the Style Dial modules? Is this mentioned somewhere? Nowhere here, for example: https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=NewFeatures.044.html ta!
  15. Yup. Ok then. I guess I'll just take this one on the chin. For this little broken thing, I will avoid fixing everything else that is not broken with a clean install. It is too much of a risk. Despite what your wiser heads may know logically, for us in the field it always is a sphincter tightening proposition to pull up all the roots established over long-term use to apply a blank slate approach to a minor problem only to find many other things that functioned fine before to be now not working! This has, unfortunately, been my experience on more than one occasion. Not to be done in the middle of a project and a deadline! 🙂 I continue to remind myself that this is superior free software and the bakers continue to help as and when they can, gourd bless ye human angels! Thanks!
  16. Interesting. So, does this indicate my folder is not compressed?
  17. @scook Any chance that dll's for these modules are available for download so that I may re-install mine and correct my situation rather than a clean install of the whole she-bang??
  18. Good idea @msmcleod ! I will give it a try... Wait, sorry. I read "decompress" as "defrag". I don't compress my drives, not willingly anyway.
  19. I like all these suggestions! We don't wanna overload the bakers, but damn good ideas!
  20. ...Reset and rescanned. Same issues with the three modules mentioned. I will wait and buck up for a clean install at a later date, as this is not affecting current project. (Though I do like those compressors!) Is there, by any chance, a way to download more recent module dll files for these modules and replace the ones (from 2016) in my current "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal" folder??
  21. ....Sorry - Before I do, what exactly is meant by "custom configurations"?
  22. Thanks. I'll give that a go for now...
  23. Got it. That Reset button was just sitting there the whole time staring me in the face! I was just about to click it, BUT - would it erase or fudge up all my carefully organized Layouts?? If so, I would want to wait on this until downtime later on as well, as it has taken time to get them to be how I want them...
  24. Got it. I too realize that this is not a 2020.1 issue. But it is interesting that the three modules are the same as the the ones totally missing with user @abacab ! In my "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal" folder the appropriate .dll files mentioned are all there, but with 2016 file dates. Is there a way to just download fresh versions of these dll's and re-scan? And, speaking of that, I have been re-scanning my VSTs quite a lot lately in attempts to troubleshoot my other VST issues mentioned above on my Monday post. What do you mean, however, about a "reset" for plugins? How is this done? I want to avoid any re-install at the moment as I am in the middle of a large, professional project with a looming deadline, but will do later if that is the only option. And -sorry- if there is another thread where this should more appropriately be carried out, please direct me...
  25. Interesting. To be clear, though, the GUI issue is there with all three mentioned modules when installed individually as well.
