  1. Hey, Blades, Nice job on this great cover!👍 Excellent playing and vocals, and I like how close to the original you were able to recreate the mix, staying true to the song. I did this with one of my cover bands a gazillion years ago, and it always packed the dance floor when we played it, good times!😀 I saw Cheap Trick live two times back in the 80's and early 90's, and they put on a killer show both times. Really nice work, Blades, good stuff, thanks for sharing! Have a good one, Bob
  2. Hi, Freddy, How are you, buddy? Hope you're doing great!🙂 I'm glad that restarting your PC did the job and got YT working again for you!👍 Thanks so much for checking out the video again for me, and for your kind words of encouragement! Greatly appreciated, Freddy. By the way, dynamite job on your new post "Humanity" really cool song and excellent guitar and vocals as always from you!😀 Thanks again, and have a great weekend, buddy! Bob

    Triesenberg

Hi, This is a fantastic, modern sounding instrumental!🙂 Excellent composition and arrangement, and the choice of instruments and playing fits perfectly into the clean and wide, nicely textured, fresh sounding mix. I could easily imagine hearing this in a soundtrack for a cinematic film. Very nice work, great piece of music!👍 Best Wishes, Bob
  4. Hey, Bjorn and Lynn, Very cool collaboration, guys!👍 Great "storytelling" style writing, clever lyrics and a nice clean, modern sounding mix! Excellent instrumental performances, and Lynn's vocals were fantastic and perfect for the song! I think you guys invented a whole new musical genre, "Country-Electronica"!😀 Top notch work, guys, really good stuff!🙂 Have a great weekend! Bob
  5. Hi, Paul, This is a really nice melancholic pop ballad, with great lyrics and vocals, and a nice clean mix!🙂 I really like how the arrangement built up throughout the song, and when the strings came in they were a tasty icing on the cake! Excellent work, Paul, great song!🙂 Have a good one, my friend! Bob

    Our Humanity

Hi, Freddy, Another really cool, and as our buddy, Lynn said, timely blues rocker with clever lyrics, great guitar work and excellent vocals!🙂 You did a fantastic job on the mix, Freddy, and as our friend, Jesse mentioned, I also really liked how the horns added a bit of a cool Vintage Motown feel to the overall production.👍 Great stuff, Freddy, have a good weekend, buddy! Bob
  7. Chuck E Baby: Hey, Charlie, How are you, brother? It's really great to hear from you, hope you're doing great!😊 Big thanks for checking this video out again for me, and for the very kind comments! I always look forward to and greatly appreciate your input and observations on my stuff, especially because your stuff is always dynamite, and I think we've always been on the same wavelength style wise.👍 It's really great to see another member of the old forum crew active over here at the new place, and I'm looking forward to catching up with everybody and hearing what they've been up to. Thanks again for the warm welcome on my first post, greatly appreciated, Charlie! Keep in touch! Have a Rockin' weekend! Bob
  8. Hi, Kenny & Everybody in The Good Old Coffee House Crew!😀 I'm looking forward to checking out Hired Gun, thanks for the recommendation!👍 Here's a bunch from Netflix that piqued my interest, I've only seen a few of them so far, but the descriptions looked interesting! As mentioned above, The History of the Eagles was fantastic, as well as the Tom Petty - Damn the Torpedoes at the bottom of this list. I've seen many really good ones were already removed from Netflix. Muscle Shoals about the famous studio, and "Artifact", about the current state of the big label music industry were both really good, and as Paulo mentioned above, Eagle Rock Entertainment's Classic Album Series is fantastic, and I think some of them are available to watch for free on Vudu. I'm still bumming that I missed Sound City before Netflix removed it! Here goes: Currently Available on Netflix (at least in my geographic location): Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child Rush - Beyond the Lighted Stage Foo Fighters - Back & Forth How the Beatles Changed the World The Doors - When You're Strange Metallica - Some Kind of Monster Now More Than Ever - The History of Chicago Rolling Stones - Crossfire Hurricane Bowie - The Man Who Changed the World George Harrison - Living in the Material World Joe Cocker- Mad Dog With Soul John Mellencamp - Plain Spoken Keith Richards - Under the Influence We Are Twisted F---ing Sister Oasis - Supersonic Springsteen And I Danny Says The Other One (Bob Weir/Grateful Dead) Kurt and Courtney Anvil -The Story of Anvil 27 Gone Too Soon SHOT Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Runnin' Down a Dream - Was on Netflix, but now on Youtube: Have a good one guys! Bob
  9. Hey, Tom, It’s really great to hear from you, buddy!😊 Thanks for checking this out for me and for the kind words! Oh, yeah, 10k would be nice!😁 I actually pulled out my studio log from way back when to check out the details on the drums on this. As usual, it looks like I plodded my way through on my Yamaha Pads for the basic kick, snare and hi-hats until I got something fairly steady, (LOL, quantized to all heck because I’m not a drummer, just a guitar player trying to drum!😀) and then used my M-Audio KeyRig midi controller to add the fills and cymbals. It’s kind of sad to admit, but my timing is actually much better using my fingers to drum on the midi controller than all four limbs on the e-kit! I used a custom drum kit that I built in Steven Slate Drums that’s based on the “Dream Theater” kit with a few pieces that I swapped out from other kits. As everybody from the old forum knows, the drums on my stuff are always my Kryptonite, and I always struggle to get them to sound something close to what I’m hearing in my head. Thankfully, you and all the other helpful guys from the forum usually chime in with some great input, advice and tips to help me get the drum tracks sounding much better!👍 Thanks again, Tom, I’m hoping to get some new stuff ready to post very soon! Have a good one, brother! Bob
  10. Hi, Guys, I was a member of the old Cakewalk Forum for 11 years, and I'm thrilled to see many of the great guys from the old forum have made it over here to this fresh, exciting new place! I'm hoping that it develops into the same type of constructive, helpful community that flourished for so long on the old forum!👍 I unfortunately had to take about a year and a half of from writing, recording and mixing, and just got slowly back into things right before the old forum closed, so I'm posting an older one of my videos while I'm working on a couple new songs and videos that I'm hoping to be able to post soon. Many of the crew from the old forum will probably remember this, and probably helped me out with mix advice for it a few years back, but I figured that after commenting on a few songs here, that it was time for me to finally jump into the fray!😀 Anyway, just joining in and looking forward to posting some new test mixes for input and advice very soon! Thanks, Bob "Made Of Glass" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2I2ZGQ0xYo&list=PLf_Av5bEK4Z49soksq32cX678o5NhZyBb
  11. Hi, Steve, I must have missed this one on the old forum, but this is an absolutely fantastic sounding ballad!🙂 Well written and arranged, with heartfelt lyrics and excellent emotional vocals. The instrumental performances are stellar and I love the range of dynamics spread throughout the crystal clear, wide sounding mix. Great work, Steve, this is outstanding!👍 Have a great weekend! Bob
  12. Hi, Gary, Really good song! Well performed and arranged, nicely recorded and the mix sounds great!🙂 Really cool, that's the first time I've ever heard "Scandinavian Country-Western", but the pleasant melodies, harmonies and excellent mix would fit in very nicely on the Classic Country radio stations here in the states! Of course, I couldn't understand the lyrics,(Something? in My Heart?), but it sure sounded great!👍 Fantastic work, Gary, have a wonderful weekend! Bob
  13. Hey, Reece, This new mix sounds much, much better!👍 Hope you don't hate me for my nitpicking, Beegs, it's only my subjective opinion, but I'd still like to hear the vocals up one or two dBs, and the right side strummed guitar is just a little bit too loud. (YIKES! That's coming from a fellow guitar player! 😀 LOL, I'll have to turn in my union card!) Either way, Reece, it's definitely sounding way better, and is really getting close. Great work on this!🙂 Have a fantastic day, buddy! Bob
  14. Hey, Ed, Great to see you posting on the new forum, buddy!😀 I'm not sure if this is still the version of the mix that people were commenting on earlier, but I tried volume matching and comparing both tracks, and I think the SC version seems to sound much fuller and have more low end than the BL file. I'm not familiar with the BL upload and rendering process, so maybe Lynn and Tom are on to something with the sampling/conversion process. Either way, really cool cover, and I can't believe that after all these years I finally came across a Beatles song that I wasn't familiar with. You got me, Bapsi!😀 Everybody did a great job performing their parts, as always with you, James, Daryl and Ron, but for some reason the mix seems to be kind of cluttered in the high mids. I never heard the original, but you might also want to try either cutting some highs or adding a little thickening to James' electric parts and the tasty solo, unless maybe you were actually trying for a vintage style mix. Your last three or four mixes on the old forum were fantastic, so I'm sure with a few minor tweaks, you'll get this exactly where you want it to be! By the way, you and Daryl did an excellent job on the vocals and harmonies, and the bass, keys, guitars and drums were all really well played.👍 I just had a crazy thought, Ed, I had a mix a while back with a similar type of weirdness in the mids, and it turned out that I had accidentally rendered the mix without turning ARC 2 off! Probably not the case here, but it wouldn't hurt to check and re-render the wav just for the heck of it. Anyway, great job guys, I know you'll get it straightened out! Have a good one! Bob
  15. Hi, Rex, This is a beautiful ballad, well written and arranged, great instrumental performances, and excellent vocals and harmonies!😀 The mix is fantastic. Wide, clear and fresh sounding, totally pro and it sounds radio-ready to me. Excellent work, Rex, great song!👍 Have a good one! Bob
  16. Hey, Tim, Spectacular kick-butt, molten metal, as always from you and your band!😀 Great writing, dynamite playing, shredding, and vocals, and a really cool video, too! Fantastic production and mix on the music, and the video editing and production were absolutely outstanding.👍 Totally pro all the way, Tim, fantastic work, brother!🙂 Have a good one, Bob
  17. Hi, I never heard the original version of this, but this is absolutely FANTASTIC!😀 The intimate acoustic beginning section reminded me of early Neil Young, and then when everything kicked in the entire song blew me away! The instrumental performances were excellent, you have an absolutely amazing voice, the vocals and harmonies were stellar, and the mix was totally pro and radio-ready. I also listened to your cover of "Wild Horses" on your YT channel, and that was also excellent.👍 Dynamite work on this, really great stuff!🙂 Best Wishes, Bob
  18. Hey Freddy, Great to see you over here at the new forum!😀 You've got a really nice old school rock 'n roller here! Reminds me of sort of a cross between Rockabilly and 60's Surf Rock. Great playing and singing, as always, Freddy, and the vintage mix sounds clear and right on the money for the style! I enjoyed the tasty clean solo, too, perfect for the energetic flow of the song.👍 Excellent job, good stuff, Freddy!🙂 Bob

    Metamorphosis

Hey, Wook, Very cool track with lots of cool little melodies and clever twists and turns!🙂 The first section with the orchestral synths was a bit different than your usual stuff , but I really liked it. The experimental sound effects at around 3:30 threw me off for a minute, but when that tasty guitar part came in I was back in business and then loved the choice of synths and melodies that came afterwards. Lots of interesting textures and elements and a really fresh sounding mix!👍 Overall, a very cool ride, John, good stuff!😀 Have a great weekend, Wook! Bob
  20. Hey, Reece, How are you, buddy? It's really great to see you over here at the new place!😀 This is a great worship song with a really nice message, and the performances are all excellent! Your vocals and the harmonies sound fantastic, and the mix is loud, clear and punchy. My only possible suggestion on the mix would be to try lowering the drum bus volume a couple of dBs so the drums aren't out front quite so much. The excellent vocals, which to me contain the message of the song, are plenty loud enough, but to me, the drums are competing too much with the vocals and other instruments, and sort of distracting from the overall message. As always, just my subjective opinion, the song sounds great, and I'm sure when you get done tweaking the mix a bit you'll get it where you want it to be. You, Mike and Sean always do a dynamite job on all your SG stuff!🙂 Anyway, great work by the three of you, really good stuff! Have a great weekend, Reece! Bob
  21. Hi, Bob, Very sorry for your loss, and also great tribute to your Dad! Coincidentally, my Dad also died on February 4th, back in 1992, which also just happened to be his 73rd birthday. Sincere condolences, and sending good thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Best Wishes, Bob
  22. Very nice, John! Great tribute to the Jazz heroes of years gone by!😀 Excellent composition and playing, and clever work weaving the names in nicely with the lyrics, arrangement and the classic vintage video! Very cool song and video with a lot of legends mentioned! PS. Very sorry to hear about your pup in your Coffee House thread, I also know how pets can be like a real member of the family. I think I mentioned to Wookiee in one of his posts on the old forum when his dog died, that my first dog, that was a Christmas gift when I was eight years old, lived to the ripe old age of 17 1/2, and my next dog made it to over 13 years old. It's really nice that you still have her in your forum avatar! Anyway, great job on this song, and have a great day!🙂 Bob
  23. Hi, Bjorn, This is a really beautiful cinematic sounding piece with excellent composition and really nice synth work, and I think the spoken word vocals work perfectly with it for a great planetarium show soundtrack!👍 It brought back fond memories of my 6th grade class trip to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, which has one of the best planetariums on the east coast, and how amazing the show was. It really got me interested in Astronomy, and a couple years later my uncle bought a very expensive professional scientific telescope with Earth rotational auto-tracking. After that, I really looked forward to the three hour family trips to visit and check out Saturn's rings and other planets and constellations.😀 Anyway, this is really well done and pretty much perfect for your intended use! Great work, Bjorn! Have a good one! Bob
  24. Hi, Sean, Absolutely beautiful song! Well written and arranged with great instrumental performances and excellent vocals. The fiddle, organ and piano sounded fantastic and were really tasty icing on the cake!🙂 The mix sounded clean and wide with everything nicely in it's own space, and right on the money for the genre.👍 Really good stuff! Have a good one! Bob
  25. Hey, James, WOW! Way to kick things off on the new forum with a really cool, monster instrumental rocker!😀 Spectacular guitar work, as always from you, I love the rich tones and the fiery playing. Lots of really cool melodies, the keyboards are the perfect pad for the tasty guitar work, and Preston's playing and drums sound amazing, much like with our good old DT buddies. The mix is clean, warm and fully textured with a perfect style for quality progressive rock like this. Fantastic stuff, James, it's always great to hear a new one from you, and I'm looking forward to enjoying many more! PS: (same note I left for our friend Yoyo), The night the old forum froze, I logged in one last time at 11:19pm to try to thank you, Yoyo, Daryl, Leadfoot and Bobby for the very kind shout outs and comments that you guys made earlier in the week, but LOL,😀 I guess I was 19 minutes late and a dollar short, because apparently it had already flipped to read-only at 11pm! Anyway, sincere thanks again for the kind words and bump, and I'm looking forward to hearing much more new music from you over here! I also just wanted to mention that you and Strummy were the very first two that were kind enough to welcome me to the old forum more than eleven years ago, and I truly still appreciate that, my friend!🙂 Have a great weekend, James! Bob
