  1. Pre fader will affect the meter on the Track Inspector. The meter on the Track Header will not be affected.
  2. The level when recording is not controlled by the faders. In fact changing the fader on a track while recording will result in false readings. Keep those meters as is and adjust level at the source.
  3. Then ProChannel is ideal for that. I'm assuming you have a recent computer with a good CPU. You don't need the greatest and latest computer. It is also possible to freeze tracks you have processed and won't process any more. This will free up resources to do more processing. LOL
  4. I never said you didn't. I was just adding how I look at the forum. BTW welcome to this forum.
  5. Very cool. It took some figuring out how to get it to show up but it has. Yah!
  6. I don't think the PC EQ is a resource hog. It should not show up much in Performance Module.
  7. ProChannel was meant to use very little resources when it was introduced. I can't say if it does now or not. Though it was meant to be used on all tracks. I haven't used it on all tracks yet. Also with the ability to use any VST in PC I would now say no. It would greatly depend on what is in your ProChannel.
  8. Well I wouldn't check all MIDI ports. Just the ones you want. I don't think he would want the MS synth. 😉
  9. You need at least three MIDI inputs if I counted your gear right. You may need to add one more.
  10. It is by far a better forum. Things just work. It also has features I have not seen before. I like it.
  11. I see. Not a bad idea. I would put in a feature request.
  12. I don't know but why would you want to?
  13. Use a place on a HD other than your C drive to store any programs add ons and anything you want to keep so if your C drive goes south you have all your stuff safe. For example, I use my download directory on the C drive for programs and stuff I don't need to keep. On another which is 4 TB I use that for downloads for all the stuff I want to keep. This also includes serial numbers in txt documents. However, most developers have a copy of your documents. Just remember your passwords. LOL You also use a external USB 3 drive for this.
  14. I think you hit on a very important point. I believe that CW brought Skylight out to make it possible to add all the features we have seen plus I think they had developed the old UI and its underlying code and core as far as they could. That is why Skylight came along. They sort of hinted at it at the time.
  15. You are welcome and in a way it was fun because it was a mystery that was begging to be solved.
  16. One thing that should be mentioned is I know without a manual its hard to have the nomenclature (name) of all the things in Cakewalk. However, there is Help and it will layout the terms used in Cakewalk. Also download the manual for Sonar Platinum. It is out of date but is still very useful. Knowing the names of things makes it so much easier to find answers.
  17. That is the Insert on button per track. For me it is set to on as the default. There is also a Global FX Insert button on your Control Bar in the Mix Module. It is labeled FX. If you turn it on all your inserts will be off.
  18. I guess you noticed I have no idea what he is talking about. Thus the pictures. 😊
  19. To Garyed; Sonar X1 came out early in 2012. It is a very old version with very limited features. Its major reason for being introduced was to implement the Skylight UI. All the versions since then have been refinements of that UI and adding new and very useful features. The new Cakewalk by Bandlab is an improved Sonar Platinum. It is very much in your favor to upgrade to Cakewalk. (It is free by the way.) You can still use X1 but I believe once you try Cakewalk you wont want to. I wish I could list all the improvements in Cakewalk but there are simply too many from X1 to attempt it.
  20. Please tell me what red button are you talking about? The first picture is the default for an audio track header. The second is with automation write engaged. The third is with the track being record enabled. To my understanding those are the only red buttons on the track header. They are off be default.
  21. Nice to hear that. I have to agree. 😊
