  1. Nothing you are saying makes any sense. "Non-unreasonable" means reasonable. In English there is no such phrase as non unreasonable . We have stated how to hide the meters and how to display them. Creating a whole new topic about drag and drop has nothing to do with it. Also when dealing with a program (Cakewalk) there are only facts there are no such thing as "alternative" facts. Those of us that know this program understand this. Please refrain from posting nonsense.
  2. Not if your goal is simply to display the meters. The meters are there whether displayed or not. The shortcut is a quick way to display the meter options. Not the meters.
  3. You think you are the only one that uses floating windows with Cakewalk? Not only do I use them but I use them on duel monitors. Screen sets work.
  4. That shortcut is for accessing the meter options not for activating them. As I said you need to learn about screen sets and workspaces.
  5. You're talking ab out something else. Yes you need to expand the Inspector pane. I use a duel monitor setup and have the Console view on the second monitor. You can show the meters by increasing the width of the track pane. You can also setup a screen set that will show or not the meters by switching one to the other. It is very quick to do this. There are also workspaces. I would look these up in the manual. I forgot mention that you can have them horizontal or vertical.
  6. What is the reason for doing this? i.e. keyboard shortcut for playback meters? Any time you hit play you are seeing the playback meters.
  7. Yeah, try to put yourself in their shoes before offering them advice. To a place where, to them, "Old School" is Taylor Swift or Beyoncé... 🤯 That is a funny and insightful point. 😄 The knowledge and wisdom of this forum is precious and free to those willing to access it.
  8. I totally agree with John. Without the "old farts" I think any answers would be few and far between. Further I have been working with Sonar/Cakewalk forums from the very beginning of the Sonar forums. That has been a long time but I was never "young" while doing so. I felt a need to help members get the most out of their DAW of choice. One big reason was because I actually read the manual. LOL
  9. You do know that when you export a project you first have to indicate where you want it, in which directory or one you newly created?
  10. That is not a help file in the traditional sense. It is a link to the Cakewalk manual from the forum. A help file is downloaded with the program and accessible locally from within the program. It usually has an extension of hlp or dat.
  11. I have no idea what that is. If you could give an explanation as to what it is we may agree.
  12. How many tracks? What are the meters showing on each track? How are you routing the audio? And as Reginald asks what is your audio interface?
  13. There is no reason to feel shame. I posted this thread for the express purpose of letting the forum know it had been up dated. Also to thank CW. I come here every day and don't always notice every little change or notice that is up in the sticky section. Thus I post to alert people about it. What you have done is justify this thread and in that I truly thank you.
  14. If you like Sonar you will LOVE Cakewalk. It will cost you nothing. And the assets you have with Sonar Platinum will be used in Cakewalk.
  15. I am very aware of the online manual. I prefer a written manual. In leu of that a PDF version will do the trick. Why you may ask ? I like to browse and read it at times I'm not using a computer. Also I believe that Cakewalk didn't have to do this but they did. I appreciate it. And I wanted to highlight it for others who would like to have an up to date PDF of the manual. Also Scook I have been working with this program and the forums gong back to when it first appeared and before. You may forget just how long I have been around.
  16. How cool to have an up to date manual to include 2021.4. With all the additions Cakewalk a new manual was needed. As usual who writes them has done an outstanding job. One of the very best manuals for a DAW I have seen. Thank you. Edit to Add. A web based manual is very nice but it does not have the same aesthetics as a real book even if that book is a PDF
  17. Yes it is in DAW years. LOL It is before 2021.04 which is very different. Look at the menus for VSTs. Let me put it this way. Noel works at making all these videos obsolete. 😄
  18. Sorry that it is a little out of date but the important thing is how Cakewalk is a fantastic DAW and free! I like how enthusiastic he is in describing it. I think it is a well done video worth new users watching it if they are unsure about it.

  20. Ample Sounds are meant to be triggered by a hardware MIDI keyboard. They are good at being triggered by MIDI in a track too. How you get that MIDI into a track is up to you. I have more than one hardware MIDI instrument. All of which can trigger an Ample Sound instrument. If you have a MIDI guitar it should work too. Cakewalk has as its core one of the very best MIDI implementations around.
  21. Ample Sound is a good place to find high quality bass guitar MIDI instruments.
  22. I would get the new version. I have not had a problem with Cakewalk ever touching any of my settings. However, you may have to update your theme. I think you do need to get the new version.
