The meters show levels after the panner.

Until the meters are moved before the panner, they will always show the left and right side levels regardless of the interleave setting.

If the line between the left and right channel is a problem, turn off segmented meters in preferences or create a custom theme with the desired images.

Of course, the meters will look the same regardless of the interleave setting and still show the levels after the panner.

Tried it before, didn't like it. Having these separate, will make certain mixing decision easier in locating mono tracks.

Things are extremely small on a 4K monitor from a far.

Changing the resolution: What was the use investing in one just to lose all that real-estate again.

    Not true.

Setting interleave to mono causes the meter to show Left and Right at the same level.

Setting interlevel to stereo causes the meter to show the Left and Right channels separately.

True! Single meter for mono would still be proper for visual purpose though.

When you set a track to interleave mono, you get only the left side of the meter playing on the track view instead of a single meter. I presume that's what OP wants.

    No! You get both simultaneously.

But - I still read it sometimes as stereo, even when I know I'm in Mono.

I've tried asio drivers for focusrite and asio4all and nothing fixes it.

Just delete Asio4All and you should be fine.

Uninstall it completely from your system.

Because, when I was asked to help debug the issue that I reported, it was pointed out to me by CBB support that if you are running Windows 10, that either WASAPI shared or WASAPI Exclusive might be/are better than ASIO, since they are the new Windows 10 driver modes.

    Got you!

I've seen a lot of users complaining about both WASAPI Exclusive and Shared drivers having issues. Recalling back when I ran only ASIO4ALL and X1LE (way before I had my first Interface.) I also couldn't watch YouTube videos.

Have you tried to download your motherboards manufacturer drivers from their website? This helps with drivers issue windows can't fix.

Upgraded my studio machine 2 since then and I only use original from the manufacturers websites for everything.

    Thank you Will!

Take it everything works fine now?

What you need to also do now is, set your Windows Sample Rate and Asio4All sample rate sync'd with your buffer size to 1024 in Asio4All panel.

You should be set for heavy projects.

Keep in mind! You will get the occasional dropout now and then, as you're using memory and cpu to drive your buffer refresh rate through digital format.

That old Platinum documentation is becoming less and less relevant

I'm doing this just to check where it was installed. 😒

As far as I can tell the current documentation is online.

It's available for download too. I remember with X1LE and Patinium you could remove it, place it in a directory path to view it without leaving Cakewalk. I need to find those discs and go through it's installation folder to look for this.

Seems to only happen on WASAPI shared.  Seems to play fine on ASIO and WASAPI Exclusive.

Why do you want to use WASAPI SHARED if it works fine on ASIO?

There is no static if the sample is moved/dragged from starting at Sample #1 and started from another spot.

Something I'd discovered a while back, having the same issue with samples  either clipping, or having that "static" information as you call it.

As you've said, it also just happened on measure 1 my side. When dragged even by a "TICK Value" it would disappeared. This bothered me so much that I had to drag all my projects by a 128Step forward to prevent this from entering into the exporting stage.

    Here's the thing:

Everytime you import a sample, it get's converted to the sample rate you're currently using in Cakewalk with the BPM it was rendered to. Most DAWs (good example would be FL STUDIO) allows you to stretch the BPM by a millisecond, where with cakewalk - it has a fix whole count.

Can you zoom fully into the sample and check both the Beginning and End of the sample, to check if it doesn't overlap slightly over into the next measure - or not fully snapped to the start of the measure? This does not apply to all samples.

So whenever you loop or the sample under this condition, it causes the clipping or a short burst of "Static" as it gets cut off suddenly during playback.

    Fix

A quick fix for me would be to "Drag the end that overlaps to be aligned with the measure OR stretch it by hitting ALT+A to open the snap panel.

    Hope this help.

This is a topic I brought up maybe a couple years ago? But back then things weren't nearly as bad as they are now. So I thought I'd go ahead and mention it again, just in case somebody might have a bright idea or two why this is happening.

First off, I think there's something about my computer that's causing this, but I don't have a good idea as to what the culprit is.

The problem has to do with audio output. If I watch streaming video or if I play wave or MP3 files exterior to CW, everything sounds great. But when I play tunes within CW, both audio tracks and midi tracks have chronic distortion -- Rice Crispies everywhere. The kinda weird thing is, it varies. Sometimes it can be really bad -- bad enough where audio dropouts occur and it's impossible to get any work done. Other times it's rather light -- annoying but I've learned to work through it. And other times -- more rare than the others -- it behaves perfectly normally.

This is an older system running Win7. I've tried to update it to Win10 but it errors out almost at the end of the installation process. So I continue to use Win7. I have a sound card that I really like -- it's always done a good job for me. But more recently I bought an audio interface, suspecting that the sound card might be the culprit. It wasn't. The problem exists with the audio interface as well.

The problem first showed up a couple years ago, right about when I changed monitors to a LG 34" screen. Problem with this monitor is it is HDMI only, and my motherboard is old enough where it doesn't have an HDMI port. So I disabled the motherboard's video and installed a bare-bones card that has an HDMI port. I've always wondered if the card's audio might be corrupting CW's audio, so I did what I could to try and neutralize the problem. I went into Device Manager and disabled the card's audio. Unfortunately, this had no effect.

About a month or so ago I bought a license for a cleaner sort of program called Restoro and ran it. It did what appeared to be a deep cleanse of my system and after it finished, I noticed that the distortion in CW was much less than it had previously been. Prior to running Restoro, the distortion was so heavy, CW had become unusable. So it helped some with whatever it did. One thing I did notice was that it seemed that, with each successive update my machine got from Micro$oft, the audio got worse. I'm not positive of this, but there's no question that things got worse over the past two years.

With the current tune I'm working on, most of the tracks are MIDI -- there are only two audio tracks. The machine produces bursts of static every second or two. In CW, the little bars that correspond to the number of cores in my processor always jump whenever the distortion hits.

It's worth noting that another piece of DAW software I use a lot -- Band in a Box -- has a similar problem. But it responds differently. If I've loaded a tune that is straight MIDI usually I don't get any distortion. But if I load a tune that has more than one audio track, I get distortion. Some tunes of mine are mostly audio tracks and they are heavily distorted. But usually within 8 bars or so the distortion disappears, and stays gone until I have to restart the tune. Then the cycle repeats. I'm convinced this same problem is affecting both DAWs, just each handles the problem differently.

So anyway, there you have it. Excuse the length, but at least it's complete -- more or less. So, any ideas what might be the cause and a solution? Yeah, I know, buy a current motherboard and upgrade to Win10. That is definitely something that will happen in the near future. But until then, I'd sure like to solve this mystery.

    Try this: Click me

Once you are done with those steps - go to control panel and uninstall Asio4All.

    Re-install your M-Audio Interface Drivers.

Go to your DAW, preferences>devices and set your interface drivers sample rate to match that of your windows sample rate.

  11. Where was Cakewalks Documentation installed in the directory again? And can I install the Reference Guide in the Same place?

Cant remember where it was with Sonar.

Yup. The sign up button successfully redirects me to a browser to create an account. I already have an account though so it just brings me to the BandLab

Bandlab has a strict browser download usage.

Try to update chrome and edge.

I guess I’m not explaining well. The template is saved with unchecked. It all works up to a certain point, when suddenly this checkmark is involuntarily removed.

It should work 100% with the advice given on default. Have you tried to re-install and refresh activation for your Sign In?

If you're not signed in properly, certain settings don't work in CbB. Maybe try that and let us know.

  16. Stupid question about PanLawCompactMode.

What was the deal in Cakewalk 8.5 with panlaw? How did it act in that version. I did read up in the Documentation about it, but still have this question harassing me and want to understand the "Backwards Compatibility thing."

I'm reading up on different Pan Law and Pan Rules of different DAWs to write an Article for a school that approached me to do a seminar on it.

I have 2 weeks to go before this seminar thing.

Hello again :) Tell me how to make this checkmark not turn on by itself when she pleases? In my templates, it is constantly removed, but when working in projects, it can spontaneously turn on when it wants. Thank you.

    Sorry for google translation :)1556812057_.thumb.PNG.ac464e14ae01bb201d506e54566e18e3.PNG

Saving this in a project wont save as default in your template.

What you need to do, is open an empty project switch it ON or OFF, Click APPLY then OK. Go to FILE and save a SAVE as Template (By replacing it.)

Close CbB and Open again to confirm this. Open the project you worked with go to the setting check if its OFF. If not: Switch it ON/OFF and save the project as  SAVE AS and replace it.

    Should work then.
