All of a sudden I'm having issues with reverb.  I have it on a bus, and I use Sends on each track that I want to add reverb to.  But today when I was recording vocals, reverb is on even when I turn it off on the track.  I turned reverb off on my vocal track, and I still hear it through my headphones when I sing.  I finally found that it was coming from the Reverb bus.  I muted that, and there was no reverb.

But that shouldn't happen.  If I have reverb off on my vocal track, I shouldn't hear it.  Added to that, when I record vocals, everything sounds very harsh.  This is out of the blue.   I have the reverb plugin maxed out in my Reverb bus.  But when I turn the reverb knob up in my vocal track, I barely hear it, even when it's up 100%.  And when I turn the reverb knob off on my vocal track, I still hear it through my headphones when recording vocals.

Echo is not on in the vocal track (or anywhere else).  So I don't know what's causing the reverb to be on all the time, even if the knob is off.  And I don't know why vocals are all of a sudden harsh when I record them.

Check if your "Dim Solo" option is enabled.

+1 on Andy's comments. Either a large diaphragm condenser mic or good dynamic mic through an audio interface is ideal. The Blue Yeti is locked to 16-bit, 48KHz, so another thing to try is make sure the DAW project reflects that before recording, and probably WASAPI shared for drivers settings. You may be seeing mismatch in bit depth/sample rate, but even if this improves you are not going to do your audio recordings proper justice. Andy's recommendations are spot on.

The yeti is a condenser microphone.

It's a USB mic - not designed for recording with a DAW

Not entirely true. Its designed for recording as well.

    "Higher than 16bit?" Shouldn't it be 16bit?

You can record at 16bit/44100kHz or at 24bit, 48kHz or even changed it up 16bit/48kHz or 24bit/44100kHz, but your have to set the rate in windows appropriate to what is in your daw. Same in your Asio drivers whether it be Asio4All or WASAPI.

My 14year old uses the Yeti with no issues with Asio4All on his laptop. He records his vocals on Cakewalk for his gaming videos on twitch. He also records his own songs using the Yeti and Asio4All with no issues at all.

so i have a blue yeti microphone and its perfect. when i use it anywhere its completely fine, except cakewalk. It sounds super muffled, you can still hear me but its bad quality compared to when i use it in bandlab.  so if anybody has a answer or way to fix it, please tell me cause all i wanna do is make music 😭

With USB mics, you need to make sure that the sample rate in windows are the same as that in Cakewalk. Secondly: change your recording rate within Cakewalk higher than 16bit.

Sorry, should have shared more info:

Brand new Jackson Warrior into a old DOD FX86 into a brand new 100w Katana then line out on back to a Tascam US-2x2HR into a Dell Laptop.

It does this every time I try to record a clip....about 8 measures into it no matter what track I use.  I've added a bigger screen grab of what it seems to do every time.  Again, constant strumming in time.

The irritating thing is I never had this issue with the exact same set-up going into a different PC....so I guess thats the wild card.  Could it be a bad install?

    You have Automation Write enabled.

The delay in the next update is mostly out of the Cakewalk team's control. There are other things at play delaying the release.

So this mean that an Introduction video into the 2023 update on the Cakewalk Youtube Channel would also not be possible?

A one and a half minute teaser would be exciting.

I was recently able to record a live guitar track, but I can't remember what the settings were, so I'm not able to reproduce it again. I  have opened a new project hoping to have default, un-altered settings. I have carefully followed forum suggestions (thank you, Lord Tim), and googled a number of terms to learn what they are doing. I deleted all ASIO and ASIO4ALL, and have selected WASAPI SHARED at 41,000. Cakewalk is confirmed up to date. I've been all through the EDIT>PREFERENCES looking for something  to complete the signal path.

I can hear my incoming instrument (acoustic guitar with  Fishman  pickup) with headphones  using the DIRECT switch on the Behringer UM2. But I don't see the level on the channel VU meters and it does not record. I want to hear track  1 played back while I record track 2.  (Not too much to ask, right?)

What I am missing? Thank you,  forum members.

Asio4All should work just fine with the Behringer UM2. My 14 year old son run the same setup daily and has no issues with Asio4all have you armed the track in Cakewalk? Is the track selected/highlighted? Click on the number to bring the track to focus and make sure that your echo input is selected. Once you arm your track for recordring, you should than see your meter information.

audiosnap has been a feature that has never worked properly for me even with the latest version of Cakewalk.

Audio snap is not intended to work on lengthy wav files. Shorter clips/takes = better results and a more natural sound it will give. This is the same for EVERY other daws as well.

If you have a 4 Measure/Bar recording, cut it up by Bar/Measure - then edit it per clip. Also make sure to bounce these clips individually on their track before you export it. Even in Logic and Protools theres a communication issue between Audiosnap and export with certain tracks even if the desired track is freezed.

Always duplicate and mute the clone track as well before you do an export.

  10. Comping works just as expected - unless things have changed while ive been gone. I see we're on the same build still though.

Comping works in conjunction with your loop points and I always use it with punch in and works great - well, the last time i still used it. Dont think it has changed. It overwrites the region you want to replace as it should.

Hi, I'm transcribing a song on Staff View but as I've been cutting it in sections, one part was divided on 2 take lanes. However I'm trying to export it to one single clip but one take lane always get excluded!
I found out that the project was on Comping mode, so one take lane will be saved and the other will be lost. I tried to change the recording mode but it didn't help on exporting the clip.

Is there a way to disable the comping take lane or maybe I'm missing something?
    Thanks in advance!

Bounce the clip. It should combine all lanes to one clip withing the track.

    You can split it yourself.

What if you dont want the stereo track to be split on import to save some track space | OR | because it doesnt need extra work done on it?

    I gaved gou advice here.

Do you understand what "posibility" means ?.  Of course you dont.

Posibility is the option of, It is not the obligation of.

Having options in a software is always something positive and for users it is a plus.

Then you go and insult me here, but I get a warning?

Nice to know this can be done easily. However, improvements can be made.

    1. Original levels aren't maintained. The split files come in hotter than the original.

    - Peak dBs:

       Stereo file = -0.5 dB

Left split file = 1.1 dB

Right split file = 2.5 dB

       Combined split = 3.6 dB

Curious why either one of the split files is hotter than the stereo file.

    2. Pan must be set manually.

    3. Option to split should be added to  drag&drop function and selectable in Preferences.

If a file was recorded with two of the same mics, both L&R channels will be balanced. Using two completely different brands - Rode or Telefunken: The sensitivities of thes are different, so the dB of each channel in the stereo field will vary.

Yes, although composing, mixing, playing an instrument or singing is a form of meditation for some - it still puts a strain on your health.

I always take an hour break if im more than 2 hours in the studio.
