  1. NI changed the licensing for KONTAKT Player several years ago and they did reduce the costs for a developer to release free Player instruments (I can't recall the specifics, but I'm pretty sure NI negotiates prices with developers anyhow). Their revenue model employs a cut of the sales for instruments that use the Player, so if a developer decides to dramatically reduce the list price of a library, they'll want to renegotiate with NI.
  2. Ah, if they were made since that thread, then that would make sense. Drew was just referring to what was released at the time, which I believe was only two expansion kits. But Drew had stated that the libraries made for BFD Player had more detail than the ones created for BFD3 more than a decade ago. EDIT: I just went to the site and saw that InMusic has been repurposing the old BFD3 kits to make BFD Expansion Packs. FTR, I'm not sure how they're getting around things like the BFD3 kits not having round robins (I realize they use programming to grab different velocity hits in BFD3 -- perhaps that's what they're doing with the Player too; I thought Drew had stated that BFD Player used round robins). I really like the demo for BFD3 Jazz Noir a lot, but the demos for the BFD Player Expansion Jazz Sticks expansion didn't sound anything like the demos for Jazz Noir and frankly, I was very turned off by the demos. I'd be interested in hearing the raw Expansion kit raw. @Drew Vernon If this is the same kit as featured on the Jazz Noir page? https://www.bfddrums.com/expansions/jazz-noir.html
  3. Drew, a developer who works on the BFD team for InMusic, explained on this forum several months ago that the libraries for BFD Player are newly recorded and not compatible with BFD3. So, they're new and different, and not reduced versions. Drew had also shared that the new BFD Player libraries have more detail than the BFD3 libraries, which were recorded more than a decade ago.
  4. I was just listening on my phone and I love the tone on those drums. Session Drummer? Isn't that the plugin from Cakewalk? I remember Platinum Samples making libraries for BFD 3. I didn't get them because I don't have BFD 3, but the demos sounded excellent and they were made by some legends. I'm intrigued.
  5. It's cheap enough, but I find this entire line disappointing. And I really like Drew, one of the developers, who's posted here and on the BFD forum. He seems like a sincerely nice person. For those who can't afford paid options, I think BFD Player is worth picking up. But the drums aren't even close to the quality of ezDrummer, AD2, or NI's various acoustic drum kit libraries. It just seems like InMusic didn't allocate the appropriate resources make this product competitive. That said, at $12.59, there aren't a lot of alternatives. My hope is that they improve this line.
  6. Looks great, Larry! So glad to see you enjoying yourself. I love California and Vancouver is one of my favorite places in the world.
  7. Report this individual, folks. Two policy violations. A political/bigoted post and then an inflammatory post against another member. We are responsible for ensuring this remains a friendly, civil forum. This individual serially does not represent those values.
  8. This isn't the place to voice political / anti LGBTQ views. Also, you got the whole thing wrong. Henson has a child who is transgender and tweeted a myth that re assignment surgery is happening to young children. That's factually untrue. The term "woke" is a long time African-American slang term referring to people being aware and empathetic to the injustices of others. A mob never formed against Henson. Leaders in the LGBTQ community asked for a discussion. Henson refused and quit. Spitfire has LGBTQ employees and that was clearly an issue. There's no woke mob. Leave your politics and intolerance off this forum, please. There are forum members of all races, ethnicities, nationalities, political views, genders and sexual orientations and all deserve to be treated with respect, not intolerance. You might not like people who are different from you, but you don't have the right to make this forum hostile to those people.
  9. Welcome back, Larry! We missed you, of course, but it's far more important -- and good to know -- that you're enjoying life! Looking forward to the pix and the stories.
  10. Hmm... Capitol Chambers for $49 US.... Tempting. The demos sound beautiful to my ears.
  11. I'm very confident that you're not alone. It's pretty clear from posts that a great deal of us hoard plugins and sample libraries, especially when they're free.
  12. I generally avoid Waves for the same reason. But I do love their Abbey Road plugins and I'll absolutely take another free plugin (I already have this one, since it just means a newer plugin with no need for WUP). But I've never had a Waves plugin stop working on me to date, so, I've never had to buy WUP.
  13. Fortunately, talent has never been a factor.
  14. Come on, what kind of self respecting hoarders would we be if we took the time to figure out what a FREE limited time plug does before we download it??? No way. Download, then figure out what it does!!!! There are only 200 licenses. Wait. We've become the equivalent of Pavlov's Dog but instead of a belll, we're triggered by the word "Free!" and especially when it's followed by "limited time" and/or "quantity. All these devs have our number. They have my number and I'm supposedly an expert marketer and understand how the formula works (it doesn't stop me from succumbing to it).
