  1. The Yamaha (and your playing) sounds really good Kurt. It transports me to some idyllic place far away from the world.   😁

  2. I had trouble understanding the lyrics so wasn't sure what the story is about. But the song has an ominous tone to it which maybe explains the singer in the lake.
    Very strong vocal performance.

That wouldn't be the Recreation Park in Long Beach, CA would it?

Nice job on the cover. I like the guitar work and the extra expression you put in the vocals.

  4. Hey Nigel, I'm not seeing any reason why YT would ban the video  Pretty sure you can appeal the ban and an actual human will look into it. Anyway, I like the video and song. The production has a different look to it than what I'm used to seeing from you, so maybe that's a result of your newer camera person.

  5. I like covers that don't sound exactly like the original so I'm liking your made-it-your-own version.
I thought the voc could use some (or more) treatment like reverb or double tracking (or bit of delay - not sure)
    Anyway, very well done.

  6. Very good. Couple of suggestions (just my 2 cents):

Need to change it up or maybe use less of that same refrain at the beginning and elsewhere.
Or make some cuts to bring out the quieter sections which have a very nice airy feel to them.
    Flute is a bit thin.
I thought I heard a human voice in there? I was expecting it to make another appearance but don't think it did.

  7. Definitely not elevator music.
Hard to comment on genres that I'm not really into, but have to admire the musicianship and arrangement that went into this. So very good.

  8. Your music always has a lot going on in the background which works quite well, especially with your unique voice on top. I always discover more layers with each listen. Clever lyrics too make for an all around great song.

  9. Yeah, D is okay but Dm - wow!.  😀
I like the exploration feel to this - try something, see where it goes, that went well, continue on.
    Always enjoy your songs Wookie

  10. Jesse goes Beastie Boys or thereabouts.
Nice! I found myself tapping my foot like a dog wagging its tail.

  11. Where is this club? I want to go there some Sat night!
    Very cool production.
Did you add in the tap dancing sound or was that from the video? Whatever, nicely done.

  12. Sounds very promising Steve. You mentioned putting it on stage so I'm assuming you're making a musical?
I'm liking the music so far, esp the song ~4:20.  Had some trouble understanding the narrative so not sure what's going on but I get the gist.
Best of luck with this my friend but I'm sure you'll succeed. Can't wait to hear what you come up with.

  14. Down and Out
Short video. A work in progress I think.

I had written the music a few years ago with the idea that I'd make a video showing early Sunday morning in Portland, OR. I had envisioned a nice peaceful story of people drinking coffee while strolling along the river. But times have changed.

I walked around downtown Portland early this morning and took some videos and pictures. There are still remnants from last year's riots here and there but at least the stores aren't all boarded up now. I should say the whole downtown area is not like the images I took, just a small section in the mostly older part of town. But it's sad to see the deterioration and the homelessness.

The music features the lya Efimov Duduk, one of my favorite VSTi but I don't use it that much.

    Thanks for watching/commenting.
