  1. My bet is as long as your current computer works. Why would they continue to offer a program that offers everything for free? There would be no incentive to lay your money down, unless there was something better behind the $$$$$$. Anyway, I don't want this to become another thread about the future of Cakewalk. I'm only hoping things will be finalized soon so we'll all know the story. 🙂John B
  2. Yes, but for how long after the change is made? I do intend to move to something new in the future. Maybe Cakewalk, maybe not. I DO have Reason 12 which I upgraded from 7 last year but it doesn't have Auto Punch in/Out so I rarely use that. Had I known it didn't have that very important feature I would not have upgraded. But too late for that now. John B
  3. Thanks @InstrEd. I also read somewhere on that thread that they will offer a short trial period so I will be able to see how it really works for me before I lay my non refundable money down. I've been checking out FL Studio 20 and Prosonus Studio One for possible alternatives. I'm really hoping Cakewalk will work for me (price and performance wise) because I really don't want another learning curve. It took me 9 years to learn what I know so far about Cakewalk and I still don't know everything but I know enough to do what I do with it. 🙂John B
  4. I just looked at the tech requirements for the upcoming Cakewalk Sonar (& Next). They both require (or suggest) an 8 Core CPU. My sig below tells of my current system as an i5 11400 2.60@ GHz 2.59GHz. (Windows 10). I recently doubled my RAM from 16 gigs to 32. I'm not overly versed on these variables but is this telling me that I have sufficient computing power to run Cakewalk Sonar (the new one) or not? If not, I may be forced to change DAWs whether I want to or not. My PC is only 2 years old and I will not buy a new one. Thanks John B
  5. @noynekker, @bjornpdx & @Supa Reels Thanks for your interest. I pulled the song. 😀John B.
  6. @FreeEarCandyThanks for listening, FEC! 🙂John B
  7. I know what you mean. I'm going through some financial trials myself right now. Takes the fun out of life sometimes. Hopefully will be settled soon. 😀John B
  8. @Bajan BlueThanks so much, Nigel. 😀John B
  9. You obviously weren't around when most of the guys here paid $500.00 for Sonar Platinum before 2018. Yes, some got a freebie over the years but I can assure you most on this thread "paid their dues" and have the right to post their equipment on their sigs. 🙂John B
  10. @daryl1968Thank you so much, Daryl! 😀John B
  11. Last night I went onto the Sweetwater site to buy a T-Shirt. Five minutes after I hit the "purchase" button I got a call from Mark Bruhn, who is the sales engineer I usually deal with to thank me for my purchase and how it will be coming. I said to him "Did you hear the latest about Cakewalk?" He said he did not. I said "It looks like you guys will be selling Cakewalk again at some time in the future. They're going from free to a pay model again." He said, "Well, if they make a deal with us and it's acceptable I guess we will". 🙂John B
  12. I think I heard from somewhere that there isn't going to be much choice in the UI at least initially. I take that to mean there will be one non changeable UI. 🙂JB
  13. Yeah. They're a riot! The way I'll go as far as any plan is: if I pay 2 3 or $400.00 for something the first year I'll expect to be able to use it to that point indefinitely without paying more. If I want more the second year or beyond I will pay for it but I'd better be able to use forever what I have at that point. 😀jb
  14. LT- I was typing as your last post came in. You might want to check out my revisions.😀
  15. Let's put it this way. I'll never say never. If I see something I want and it's affordable for me I'll consider buying it. If the following year offers something I want I'll probably upgrade but a monthly sub is out of the question entirely for me. 😀 Oh, answering you first question: No, I never got anything past x3. When the CbB freebie came out I didn't want to upgrade because I thought there would eventually be a catch to it so I used the extra things that came with it very cautiously. Now I'm glad I did.
  16. I didn't pay for a new version every year. I bought x3 studio in 2014 and stayed with that until CbB was offered. I'll pay a fair price to do what I have been doing. I don't need a lot of fancy bells and whistles. I have and use most of my own plugins. I don't use any of the Cakewalk instruments. Not knocking them. I just have no need for them. I made do with what I had and did without what I couldn't afford because I didn't have a ton of money to spend. I still don't. 😀JOHN B
  17. @jack c.Thanks for your feedback, Jack. 😀John B
  18. Let this be a lesson to all. Gibson screwed all of you who bought into the "Lifetime License" lie. What should you learn from that? How about don't trust anybody who takes your money promising you anything "free for a lifetime". Now you must hope that out of the goodness of their hearts Bandlab will compensate you for that. They don't have to because you made that deal with the Gibson crooks. They took your money and ran. Something always smelled fishy to me with that deal. Glad I didn't fall for it. 😀John B
  19. There's only one thing I have to say on this. I will NOT pay MONTHLY to do the same thing I've been doing all these years I've been using Cakewalk (Sonar X3 or by Bandlab). It has to be one price and done or it's quittin' time for me. Nuff said. 😀John B
  20. You are a very skilled guitarist. Long but holds interest with all of the different sounds going on. 🙂John B
  21. I just had to revisit this again. It's like I can't stop listening to this. It's like the protagonist is singing about voices in his head in between a nightmarish maze of disturbing sight and sound. He can no longer control himself and goes out and commits a horrific crime. Kinda like a Hitchcock type theme. No. I just figured it out. It's the hairy Wookie beast striking on a full moon. Fascinating composition, seriously. 😀John B

I like this "mellow" sound of JackC. I don't think I heard you do a ballad before. Your voice is your voice. 😀John B
  23. Nice. You are going to expand this, aren't you? (please). 😀John B
  24. @KSbandThanks for listening and your feedback. I'm sorry I have to most respectfully disagree with you. As both an alto and tenor sax player of many years, the alto does sound real to my ears. I think it's the flute that falls a bit short on this song.🙂 I still have my horn but can't play it now because of my asthma. 😀John B
  25. The Fizzy Pics do a cover?! Wow! I like covers when they are different from the originals You've made this your own. Nice! 😀John B
