That's surprising! I see Native Access 2 only using 375MB here. I frequently see my C drive disk usage increase by several GBs after a new install (in excess of the expected actual files installed). I have discovered that Windows usually makes a system restore point when you run an installer, if you have System Restore protection enabled on your system drive. That can easily eat up at least several GBs. 🙄 You can see how much drive space System Restore is currently occupying by opening System Protection from Windows Settings. Alternatively you can confirm this by using a disk space analyzer like the excellent TreeSize Free run as Administrator, and looking at the System Volume Information folder. They are the large files in braces with long names in hex. One of the many mysteries of Windows! You can delete the restore points if you don't need them by clicking on "Configure" in System Protection, which shows the space used, and then clicking on "Delete". I just scanned with TreeSize and they were using 3GB here, so I deleted all. Then created a manual restore point that only used 1.1 GB. They do begin to add up, even though you can set a max usage of 1% of the drive, but in my case that equals 4.64GB (on a 500GB M.2 SSD). Bottom line is that I suspect Native Access is not using 3GB of drive space by itself.

That there seems to be a mystery to all. As far as I can gather, it is "officially" Native Access 2, v3.3.0. It seems that the devs went a bit crazy with the versioning... 🤣 Not sure why you are seeing higher CPU usage, but I may have an idea for the disk space. Check your "Preferences > File Management > Content Location" if you usually install your content on another drive like I do. I had to switch mine back to my D drive after the upgrade. Otherwise, pay a visit to the NI forum and add your voice. Better chance of finding someone with your issue over there, and it's the best way to contribute to product improvement...

Great point, but I no longer use 32-bit plugins, and I would suggest others to migrate away from them for stability reasons. If they still work, fine, but they are not likely to be getting any updates. Like any other EOL software, you takes your chances!

Or until you get a new computer! I have been using plugins for twenty+ years, and have lived on both sides of that issue. Every time that I upgrade my computer, it's like "life is great now, I can run anything". Then 5 years later it's "that new plugin is a CPU hog". Then after another upgrade, "life is great, I can run anything". The circle of life!

I believe NA1 has fallen behind. It failed to show me the the recent Massive X update. All was good after I upgraded to NA2. So it looks like time to make the move forward has arrived...

I'm with you regarding inMusic. IMO that is the only company worse than Waves. I've never used BFD, but based on the track record of other software that inMusic have acquired (and I have a shedload of it), I'd be less likely to get involved with them again. I hope they do right with BFD for all of the existing users out there.

All well and good. But a user would still need to own the actual defined instrument in order to make use of the definition files. The OP asked if he could use "instruments outside Cakewalk", so it wasn't initially clear what he was asking about. A program that has support for Cakewalk .ins files can make use of them, as Gig Performer does.

Now go back and plug it into those unfinished songs and let the magic speak!

It's been free for a while, since the dev closed the web store last year. But yeah, great app!!! Easy to use host for patching together chains of your virtual instruments and effects plugins independently of a DAW. All MIDI and audio I/O ports are clearly exposed and can be connected together.

On the slim chance that the power failure corrupted something other than the drive or folder, you could check Windows for corrupted software. From an elevated command prompt: SFC /Scannow ... if that shows some corruption, you might also run... DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Other than that, maybe roll back to your most recent system image backup prior to the outage.

I wasn't specifically calling out Amplitube. IKM do this with most of their software products. Quite annoying, and I would prefer to know if they fixed something that affected me. Usually just ignore updates presented without specifics. I much prefer the way that some of the other leading manufacturers, such as Arturia, provide change info for updates.

The *.ins files are intended for use in Cakewalk. They are basically a list in text file format of the banks and patches included in a defined MIDI instrument. "Instrument definitions are a powerful feature that make it easier for you to find the banks, patches, and controllers of your MIDI instruments. An instrument definition is a file that contains the names of the banks, patches, note names, bank select method, and controllers of an instrument. Instrument definitions for many popular MIDI instruments are included with Cakewalk software."
