  1. Thank you for the feedback. I'll try when I get home and report back. If it dosent work, it there no full reinstall option any longer? I have all these projects I'll never be able to access if I can't get it back up and running. Appreciate your time and assistance.
  2. Hello. Hope someone can help. I've been using CbL without issue with the last update for some time, Running Win10. Today it tried to install a daw control surface, Presonus Faderport 8 as I saw it works with Cakewalk. I had Cakewalk running and was trying to get it connected with the faderport. At one point I got a error message about "FP8" (Fader port being an audio driver? I didn't get to copy the message! I'd also tried to set up the Mackie control surface in the preferences. It never did link with the Faderport as far as I can tell. Now after the error message, when I try to open Cakewalk it opens to the splash screen and closes. I'm now completely without a daw. I disconnected the FP8 from the USB. Uninstalled the "Universal controll" software etc. Nothing works.I can't get into CbL to try to correct the problem. Any idea how to get it to open? Is there a way to reinstall Cakewalk now that its not supported any longer. Is there a final version file I can download to reinstall or am I just out of luck? Appreciate any assistance anyone can offer.
  3. Thanks. I concur. Seems like a something on my end I guess. Never had an issue with an other update in the past. Those would have been running under Webview 2 x86 though? I uninstalled it, even though its not set as the default, do I need to have Edge installed and Webview 2? I have something else I can use that still functions after all these years on Win 7 in order to use the plugins but its not cross compatible with the Cakewalk on my Win 10 system I dont think? I still have a working copy of Cubase 7 I used before switching to Cakewalk all those years ago. I think I'd just have to process wave files in Cubase using the effects then import the rendered wave file into Cakewalk on the Win 10 side. Pretty much a pain but it may work? So my win 10 system it is running 2023.09. Will 2023.09 continue to function in its free state or will it deactivate some day? Again, appreciate all the support.
  4. Thank you, I'm glad Cakewalk is working hard to resolve your issue, which is the same as mine but it looks like Im not getting the same support. Maybe your using windows 10? They just sent me a suggestion to upgrade my OS, which I cant do on this machine. I need this Win 7 machine to function for a reason. I'm not asking for win 7 continued software support or anything other than the installer to work or provide an offline activation for 2023.09. Looks like that's not going to happen for me.   5. HI. 1. Mozilla is set as the default browser on win 7 machine. (I tried edge and chrome, same results) Mozilla is updated to latest revision. 2. I tried to install the x64 version from the link you provided. I get an "unknown installer error" when running Any x64 version, including the one you referenced. I tried all of the x64 109 versions. All get the unknown istaller error. Looks like others have reported this. I did run as administrator and cleared my cache etc. 3. The bootstraper worked where the Evergreen wouldn't but it automatically installed the x86 version only as far as I can tell? 4. When I let the evergreen try to install the x64 I get the 0xc000139 error shown. Why is the complete uninstall/reinstall a last resort? Would it be better to leave the registry alone then if it dosent interfere with the reinstall? Since the x64 gets an install error from the cakewalk installer, I dont know that it would make much difference in reinstalling anyway?
  6. Promidi Thanks for the suffestion! The stub did install the 109 update but its x86. I still get the same error msg about no internet connection. The runtime doesn't seem to effect it either way. What I'm not getting is the Bandlab log-in splash screen as shown in Marks screen grab. I assume Its either on my end (some odd setting) or the Cakewalk/bandlab servers side? Should i try a complete uninstall of 202.09 and try the installer again? Whats the best way to make it see it as a fresh install? I dont know if any registry clean up may be required?
  7. Ok. Thanks. I did install as admin but same error msg. I've tried everything everyone has suggested. Still the same error message and now I cant install the the webview2 so that makes it worse I guess. I guess unless cakewalk implements some kind of offline option I'm out of the cakewalk game on win7. Really a bummer day, but I am SO grateful to everyone who spent the time trying to help me (and hopefully anyone else who is experiencing these issues) Thank you all.... Your all very kind to try to help. If anyone has any other thoughts or suggestions I'm always open to trying. Best wishes to all.
  8. So I uninstalled the x86 version of webview 2 I had installed and tried the x64 version from the link above. Now I get the error message below during install. I tried is safe mode as well. Same result. I tried to reinstall the x86 version and now I get the same error message. I installed x86 yesterday or Friday evening. Not sure why it wont work now. I tried the fixes mentioned on the web for the error code but nothing worked. Any idea what this error is? I thought the x64 installer may have used a more recent version than 109 with is the last win 7 compatible version? I downloaded some of the older 109 version but they say unknown installer error and wont load. Now I have neither installed.... What is the difference in the 2, Evergreen Boostrapper and Evergreen Standalone installer?
  9. Hi. Thanks. That is where Downloaded it from I believe. I do have the last valid version 109 for win 7. But I will uninstall and try again. I think I did x64 but I've tried so many things I could have picked the x86? I'll try it and advise. Thanks again.
  10. John/Mark/everyone, Thanks for all the tips. I tried the following based on the suggestions. 1. I've only ever used 1 monitor on this Win 7 system. I checked, there isn't another one launched. 2. I uninstalled malware bytes. Turned off windows defender. 3. Firewall has been off. I double checked my firewall rules, see attachments. To me they appear to allow inbound and outbound traffic. (I have no idea what "IPsec" settings are or if they are important?) Please let me know if anyone sees anything odd in the rules. 4. Turned of windows defender, didn't even remember it was there after all these years. Didn't make a difference. 5. I tried Johns suggestion of leaving the start up on for an extended time. I left cakewalk open overnight after the No internet message was displayed at start up. Nothing happened. it never connected. 6. The " Not activated" message keeps popping up every few minutes, even if I close it. Not sure if that means its continuing to ping the system? Unless someone has any other connection suggestions I don't know what else to try other than a reinstall? Maybe it would set up something it missed or is relevant to the authorization? I', showing 2023.09 installed so maybe this isn't necessary? *** Should I just run the 2023.09 installer again over the current install or uninstall completely and run again? What is the best way to uninstall to assure its completely clear. (How to clear the registry etc)? - Would appreciate anyone's advise that's done this before. I really want to get this working again. I tried out Reaper and don't really like the sound and feel of it, though it was some nice features. I really miss how great Cakewalk really is... was. Appreciate everyone's patience and assistance.

  12. Mark Thank you for taking the time and effort to make the screen capture. Very helpful. I cant do a motion screen capture but I can tell you how it works for me and where it is different with screen shots included attached. Until this version we've all used Bandlab assistant with no issue. This new update is now without Bandlab assistant so I don't use it. 1. I'm using Windows 7, with the most up to date version of Firefox set as my default browser (tried it with Chrome and Edge as defaults with the same results). My fire wall is set to off. I have no issues opening or downloading anything from the internet. 2. I launch Cakewalk from my desktop shortcut. 3. Cakewalk opens and starts loading plugins. 4. The start screen pops up and then a message box pos up: "Cant reach Internet - The requested service requires an internet connection. Please check you internet connection, or firewall settings, and try again" - I have solid internet connection that functions without issue. 5. I don't get the Bandlab splash screen you show in your screen grab. Thats the difference. - I do get the pop box stating: "Not Activated - Please sign into your Bandlab account to activate cakewalk" As long as the Cakewalk program is open this box either stays on the screen or if I close the popup, it will reappear in the corner of my screen from time to time as long as Cakewalk is open. Seems to be some issue with the ping process with Bandlab, as you've described it. Any other thoughts an something that may need to be enabled or disabled on my end? I've done the TLS 1.2 as described. I did uninstall Webview 2 and Edge as the whole machine ran worse after that. Once i uninstalled them, things went back to working smoothly. As long as I need neither of those I don't think that has anything to do with my issue. I'll try anything anyone thinks will help. I'm now not going to update Cakewalk on my windows 10 machine for fear of loosing Cakewalk completely. Hoping a fix can be found for this issue. I wanted to be making music, not fighting activation issues. Really appreciate everyone trying to help.
  13. Mark thank you for the detailed information. I did/do have Mozilla set as my default browser as the instructions show. And I did have a default browser at the time of install this morning. I did the registry update for TLS 1.2 as described. Firewall is off. The hang up seems to be as you describe, when I "Sign in to Bandlab from the help menu in cakewalk, the no internet connection error msg is being returned. I've tried 3 different browsers today as default and none work. I've always updated with mozilla or chrome in the past without this issue until today. That was via Bandlab assistant so the new authorization method seems to be the issue for some. I did uninstall MS edge and Webview 2 as the whole system seemed to get unstable when installed today. And worked fine again once removed. If MS Edge isn't the "Required" browser to install updates, not sure why the Cakewalk installer forced it on me this time? What about reinstalling the update over the one currently installed? Does that make any sense? Or do I have to uninstall cakewalk completely and run the installer again, or is that just a waste of time? 223.09 is installed, just need to figure out the authorization issue. Hopefully it may help others if a solution can be found. I know i'm not the only one with this issue. At the same it seems to have worked well for others so not sure how to proceed. Thank you
  14. Mark Thank you. I typicly use Chrome and Firefox for browsers. I've Never had edge n this machine until today when I ran the 2023.09 update. It automatically installed it this morning so I imagined it needed Edge/MS Edge Webview 2 to process the activation? When I'm in the help tab in Cakewalk it says "Sign into Bandlab" (which I'm already signed into) When I use "sign into bandlab" I don't know what browser its viewing when it says "No internet connection? I show logged into both band lab and cakewalk. Another message pops up saying "sign into your bandlab account and then gives me the same No internet connection message which is not correct. I'll try logging out of bandlab & cakewalk and logging in with Firefox to those sits but I cant seem to point Cakewalk to any browser. Am I missing something? Appreciate the suggestion.

Or as John is stating, perhaps its a server issue on their end? If not, hope to have the offline activation option. I cant do anything but play the songs currently. No saving allowed. So frustrating from a software that has never had 1 issue in all the updates. This it possible to find and install a recent previous version? If so how do I find it? Or is that just impossible now that I've updated to 2023.09?

  17. John, Thanks. Do you mean this post from 11:40 yesterday? I have rebooted a few times, just did it again. You think its just a server issue on there end? I get the error message right after the plugins load and again when I try to activate from the help menu. The splash screen displays and I can select a project but I can click anything, it jsut locks up, But, it will play the project song with the spacebar but I have to alt close delete to close the program. Never had any issues until today. I'll keep trying the reboot process. Hoping that works. Is activate offline no linger an option?
  18. Mark, Thanks, Yes installing last update for cakewalk on windows 7 this morning is the problem I'm struggling with at the moment, with the activation issue. The version updated but Cakewalk is not recognizing the internet to authorize the program? Since Bandlab assistant is no longer working as far as I understand that's of no use. Seems another user in Japan noted the same issue with 2023.09 on Monday. Hoping for some direction. Wondering if there is still an "offline" option if the internet isn't recognized? Possibly others are having this issue with 2023.09. I've tried everything i know to do on my end. Hoping someone will have additional insight into a fix so I can use it again soon.
  19. I use Chrome and edge is installed as well. Hello. Having the same issue today. It wont register. Message says there is no internet detected, which is not correct. Have you heard anything back from support? I turned in a ticket today.
  20. Hello All. I installed 2023.09 from the installer. At start up, after plugin scan, one error message says "Not Activated Please sign in to your Bandlab account to activate Cakewalk" - "The requested service requires an internet connection When I try the "Sign into bandlab from the cakewalk help menu I get the following message: "Cannot reach internet" - "The requested service requires an internet connection. Please check your internet connection, or firewall settings and try again." Hoping someone can help as now I can no longer run cakewalk on my win 7 machine. Well, i have an internet connection, I'm logged into Bandlab from my browser so my internet is working as usual. Never had a firewall issue in the past but it is off so that should'nt be an issue. Is there a work around for the activation or this internet not found issue? Is there still an offline activation option? Appreciate anything anyone can do to help. If not, is there Any way to reinstall the last working version? All was working this morning before the update attempt.
  21. Thank you everyone for your feedback and assistance. I'll give the latest installer a try on Win7 and see what I get. Hopefully all goes well for this final update. I'll be back with more questions if I run into any isuues. I guess some of us learned something, I'm also sorry to hear no Sonar available on Win 7 but I can use it on my Win 10 machine. Hoping this final update doesn't authorize its self out of service so I wont have to try Reaper on the Win7 machine just to keep the plugins alive.   22. Thanks again. So Is HIBI correct in stating to run the latest update, that I've downloaded (CakewalkSetup.exe) from the Bandlab.com site and it will update my version 2020.01 to 2023.09? Or Do I have to uninstall 2020.01 then install what i'm assuming is 2023.09? It dosent specify the version number of the set up file. I don't want to run it and mess up the working version I have unless it will actually perform the update to the latest. Thank you all for your patience in assisting me. I hope its helpful to others with similar issues/questions.
  23. John, Hi. Thank you. I'll let go away from Bandlab assistant from now on. When you say from the "Help menu", you mean the help menu inside cakewalk I assume? When I try that I get the attached message: "Connection Error - Could not check for updates. Please try again later" Is this the correct help menu for the update, from inside calkwalk? Could be a serve issue if I'm in the right place. I've never had any issue with updates in the past. Hopefully its a serve issue on there end that gets corrected. HIBI advsied above to install the installer from Calkwalk. Does that require me to uninstall the current version and do a complete reinstall? Does uninstall of my current version delete all the project files and settings? Is there a way to not uninstall project files? Appreciate everyone assistance.
