  1. Hi. I only have SSD's used actively in my studio pc (6) for both software and samples.

I started the transition 5 or so years ago, and have replaced my HD's for SSD's, and have had no issues with them.

I have a few external HD's that I use for storage of downloads and stuff (incl music software, libraries etc.).

    All the best.

What a resolutiOn lol !! Un resizable pluginsmust be a pain in your screen lol.

not sure if it is updated ,

I've more or less stopped using un-rezisable plugins, running a resolution of 3440x1440 (34.5" with 21x9 layout).

But it seems clearer on my monitor, with more contrast than previous.

  3. I noticed that all my Softube plugins (Volume 5), with the exception of Trident A Range had an update ready for me.

I have not gotten any email regarding this (yet).

    Run Softube Central to update.

    All the best.

  4. Hi. I would also take a look at Softube's Console emulations:
    https://www.softube.com/products

I love the British Class A (Neve) for vocals, bass and guitar.

It has a broad strokes Eq, but a musical one, and a great compressor.

The American Class A (API) is also very good.

The Summit has a gentle tone to it, but with some vibe.

The Tube Tech is based on its original Danish design, and has a little bit "modern" and "glossy" sound to it.

The Chandler also sounds very good.

None of these are cheap, but they offer Demo's for all their products, so I would check them out, if you find it interesting.

    All the best.

  5. Yes. I went to the Oslo Opera in April, watching/hearing Rigoletto by Verdi. It was a great experience.

I'm off to see Carmen by Bizet on June the 24th. in the same place.

I found out that Tool was playing an hour away from my house the same day they played 2 weeks or so ago, but had no tickets.

Wayyyy Cool!!  I'm not big on Metal either but this could make me like it a bit more.  The effect on the vocal is ear catching, like a buzz saw.

    Thanks, John!

The thing you're hearing is probably my low vocal, singing an octave below the lead voice. There's no special effect on that vocal, besides reverb and delay.

I usually double track verse vocals, and triple track choruses and bridges.

    All the best.

  7. Hi. When I had my RME UCX, I connected my POD HD 500 via spdif, using half of an old school Hi-Fi cable (red and white for connecting devices to amp/receiver).

I had no issues with degradation of the sound using simple cables as that.

My RME UFX doesn't have spdif, so need to find an spdif to AES cable to connect it digitally. For now, 2 jacks...

    All the best.

@Zargg I have come back for another listen to this revised mix, I am not sure what the differences are as I have had so much happening here my mind is furrier than normal.

Consequently what I am not about to say might be a a whole bunch of fetid dingo's kidneys.

The vocal sounds a more pulled back in the mix but with more definition/clarity, the top end slap of the Kick is more obvious, which will help to those listening on buds and the like.

Thanks for another listen, and feedback John.

I will check to see if the vocals are where they should be. The slap on the kick is as you say, for listeners with phones etc.

I was also told the verse guitar needs a little 1 kHz, so will do those things together.

    All the best.

No, not all. Not even in the same ballpark as Bapu!!

But I do have a lot. I also now own an UA Apollo that has some really great sounding plugins.

Most of the time I use the UAD stuff, Waves, Plugin Alliance, and of course,  IK stuff.

Don't have all the UAD stuff, but I got all I want. Got a lot of PA and IK stuff!! Almost all the Waves stuff too.

But I have no Slate, McDSP, Softube, and others like those.

There is a lot I don't have. I am just happy with what I do have.

I am in the same situation mate.

The UAD plugins I want/need (minus the SSL Bus Compressor, which I don't REALLY need).

I do have all the Softube plugins I want for my Console 1, and Izotope, Waves, PA, etc. plugins.

After last years IK group buy, I filled my cup for a long time.

It has to be something special for it to peak my interest.

I still come here every day though.

Cool song with a bit of an edge.  The guitar riff panned center and vocals (well the soft parts) remind me a wee bit of Bowie.

Good performance and the mix keeps every thing well separated!

Thanks for listening, and the positive feedback, Freddy. Never wrong to be mentioned in the same sentence ;)

    All the best.

Interesting piece of metal? (is it metal or a sub genre) to start the day. Mix works well here on the Event's.

Thanks for listening and positive feedback, John.

I'm not really sure which genre it is, to be honest.

    All the best.
