  1. I am like last year not wanting anything special, nor can afford it if I saw it come up. I have gotten my bass (electrical issue, which is fixed and back) and Les Paul (needed the lot) fixed, so emptied my pockets quite a bit more than I hoped...

Not complaining, as I feel I have what I need (even if not all I want) this year.

    All the best.

Not a genre I feel I'm qualified to comment about,  but I like the guitar tone.  I can't help but sense the fusion of heavy metal in this rap effort. Kudos for taking a stab at it.

Thanks for listening and feedback. Sorry for the late reply. I don't get any emails from Cakewalk anymore, and forgot to check this one.

It is indeed metal with me trying to "rap" to it. (I used "" as this is my very 1st attempt on doing it, so didn't wanna call what I did rap.)

    All the best.

  3. I have definitely cut back due to finances.

I'm also at a point that if it isn't Console1 compatible (so mostly down to Softube and UAD, and I have most of the C1 compatible plugins), I'm not that interested anymore.

They are not on the cheap end of the scale most of the time either.

I did upgrade to Softube Volume 6, and is the only plugin purchase the past year (I believe).

I don't feel like I'm lacking anything plugin wise either, so don't feel I'm missing out when new and good deals are presented.

    All the best.

Hi Zargg. Listened to original version as well. Great choice of song to reinvent. Both versions sound great. Your vocals are extraordinary. I think the original has the overall clarity and mass accessibility  that allows the listener to hear everything quite clear. So, right after I listened to the original I played yours.

My ears at first couldn't hear much clarity as it seemed that more carving of the audio spectrum was needed to give each instrument a clear and present place to be clearly heard. I then listened to yours a few more times and my ears slowly picked up on your mixes completely different audio palette. So now I'm like.... both versions are excellently realized in completely different ways. Cheers!!🎶🎶🎶🎶

Thanks for listening and positive feedback, Larry.

I just (5 mins ago) replaced the mix with one with a little more vocals, and a few other minor tweaks.

    All the best.

To be honest not my kind of music.
The mix separation is great on the guitars.
The rap you've got it 🙂

We all pain different pictures..  but compression on the voice could be used a little more to make the vocal come forward and a little more understandable.

Thanks for listening and feedback, Gary.  (If we all liked the same music, it would be boring 🤘)

The vocals are already pretty compressed (several times), but I'll take a look and perhaps up them a little.

    All the best.

The one thing that stands out is the the lack of weight in the drums, especially the kick. is it because the vocals are to forward with the rest of the mix.

The backing sounds balanced but the vox is a bit forward.

Perhaps just these furry ears mix not quite to your normal standard sir sorry.

Thanks for listening and feedback, Wooks.
I'm gonna try to get some more oomph in the drums.
I'll also try to remedy the vocals.

    All the best.

  7. Hi. I thought I'd try something I've never tried before, which is to "rap".

I think the original song is cool (Remember the name by Fort Minor), so thought, why not give it a go, so here it is.

    Feedback is appreciated.

    All the best.
To add: I've tried to remedy some masking issues that were pointed out to me by Charlie Roy (from the old forum) on his Mixing and Mastering tips forum on FB.

I just went through this last week. I noticed there was an update to Replika, a plugin I'd completely forgotten I even had. But when I tried to update it, it said the installation failed because the installer couldn't delete the previous version. I verified there weren't any permissions issues and ran the installer as Admin, even went so far as to delete Replika myself to save it the trouble. I went to the FAQ which explained that a registry key needed to be deleted. Welcome to 1980, NI. This reminded me of installing UNIX applications back in the day.

After all that I had to try Replika to see if it was worth the effort.

    It wasn't.

I will say this about Native Whatever They Call it Now - I do like being able to get a list of everything NI that I've got, just as a reminder of how much $$$ I've blown on stuff that never got used. It'll be worth a chuckle if it now starts reminding me to update Trash.

I've had the same issue at times, and what you need is the NI Uninstall Tool found here:
    https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003509269-Fixing-Software-Update-Installation-Issues-Windows-

You need to search for the plugin (can skip/search with "R" for Replika).

  9. Hi peeps. Long time etc..

I got a "new" cat from the animal shelter this past Sunday, after having to put down my old cat (She was over 17 years old) last month.

It's a 5 year old female indoor cat that doesn't get along with other cats, or small kids, so it's been hard to get someone to adopt her.

Her name was originally "Missy", but I could change the name when I adopted her. Her name is now Reidun, which is an old Norwegian name, and always reminds me of old cranky ladies ;)

She's a bit of a weirdo (which I love), but she's loving it here already.

Yep. I only learned that last night.  Clearly, I need to learn more about Cakewalk's Pro Channel.  Do you think it's any good?

Hi. I am in a bit of the same situation as antler, but the Pro-Channel plugins are actually very good.

I still think the CA2A is one of the best LA2A plugins I've tried and got. And I've got quite a few. UAD's LA2A's comes above the CA2A though, IMO.

    All the best.
