Is the free version worth the install? Windows tries to block it but I assume that is because it is a new programme

Free version is same as full version, only less presets & wt's. And it loads serum & other wt's. If still not to taste, just uninstall it.
But it's currently updated daily, so you may want to wait a few days to get the quirks out.

You are missing the presets. Something may have prevented the installer from installing them - maybe a permissions issue.
Reboot your system and rerun the installer (you may have to first run the rollback). You should see a few hundred presets there if it properly installs.

    Regarding Prochannel presets:
My local login does not have admin rights.
When I install latest version, still no presets. Tested twice.
After roll-back, I add admin rights to my account, and install latest version, now presets are there.

  3. This thread needs a bump.
For those of us still using Soundfonts, .sf2 files, there are some nice free 64bit alternatives:

BassMidi Vsti, https://www.kvraudio.com/product/bassmidi-vsti-by-falcosoft A multitimbral sf2 player, simple to use

Juicysfplugin, https://github.com/Birch-san/juicysfplugin Not multitimbral .sf2 player, also simple to use

TX16Wx, https://www.tx16wx.com reads .sf2 and many more formats. Rather complex to work with

Plogue Sforzando, https://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando.html convert .sf2 to .sfz

Sobanth, https://www.kvraudio.com/product/sobanth-by-benjamin-rosseaux Had some crashes with this, but maybe just me

  4. There is a UI zoom work-around for surge in Cakewalk.
Use any working zoom host (s.a. Savihost), zoom surge to what you like. Save as default zoom.
Now, when you open surge in cakewalk, it's zoomed correct to that zoom.

The lack of GUI issue was something that gave me an excuse to delve into Cakewalk's FX Chain Preset feature, which allowed me to take the plug-in I wanted to use, De-Ess, and create my own GUI wrapper for it with a full complement of knobs and buttons. It was really quite useful and worked well and was something I don't know if I could have done in any other DAW.

Yeah, no GUI have kept me away. Good idea using FX chains, they have a few I want to test, De-ess one of them.

Btw I think they are all 64-bit now.

  6. I reported this on the old forum, so just a reminder:

When saving a track template, outputs and sends to sidechain fx are not saved.
Old Sonar bug, same in v8.5.

Tested on buses and tracks, sidechain is lost.
Looking in the .cwx I see a plug->input 2 ref. so it may be a loading issue.

Is nobody using track templates with side chaining?

Still not fixed as of 2019.07/79

  7. Simple EDM all PC made. I play no instruments (have none), can't sing (have no mic), so this is all made ITB including PC generated voices for singing.
And as I have 24/7 tinnitus, much of the mix is done visually. But I'm having fun 9_9
