  1. Thanks for this. This will help when trying pinpoint what plugin is stopping a project from opening. Should cut down the time it takes clicking through yes and no to each plugin.

  3. I'm getting some crashes on the latest release. The program is just hard quitting when I'm doing things like changing routing, adding aux tracks, and trying to play back a project. This is occuring with zero plugins in the project. It's mostly happening when trying to send multiple (+4) tracks to the same aux or when playing a back a project i'm just setting up. It is limited to this new project, and the only thing different about this project is the new tracks I added to my template 5 minutes prior. I'm going to zip this project to cakewalk support, but has anyone experienced anything similar? 2023-01-10 14-36-10.mkv
  4. Yeah, that be the quickest solution. I think it also makes sense to insert aux tracks the same way as a bus. I guess this is a wider issue about how the menus are implemented, breaking it down into a few flyouts could help save time. Another one is the 'delete send' button being at the very bottom of the send menu. It would make more sense to place it at the top.
  5. I like to go EQ > Comp > EQ again if needed. All time-based effects at the end. Also, great point by @Lord Tim, you can normally get away with cutting up to 200/300hz on your reverb/fx send.
  6. Thanks both. I will try rolling back first and see if that fixes it. Just to re-iterate, this only happens when projects get heavy, and normally when opening during playback (attached example of project size) Upon second testing, NI Replika opens fine, it's the others that have problems, and all these plugins have very responsive GUI's (waveforms, live input display etc), so I'm wondering if the commonalities here mean something. I'm due to start freezing things soon too, my system might be acting up as it's pretty close to the edge.   7. Great update, love all of the new features. Since updating, some plugins are intermittently opening as a blank white screen. If I open one of the offending plugins when a mix is playing back, it can lock up the project and it instantly closes with no error message. Offending plugins, I can tell are Sonnox Drum Gate Oeksound Soothe Izotope Neoverb Soundtheory Gulfoss Softube American Class A Native Instruments Replika I have tested the same plugins in Reaper, and I don't get the same problem. I have also updated all of my drivers and W10 is on the current build. This is intermittent, and only seems to happen when a project gets heavier. I'm also getting an intermittent error message during auto-saving which says 'Cannot find or open file' And two intermittent error messages when trying to export When trying to export and MP3 - ''An unknown error occurred during processing, possibly caused by an invalid parameter'' When trying to export a WAV - ''Catastrophic failure'' These issues might not be related to this build exactly, but they have only cropped up since updating. I am using no new plugins.
  8. I think it's as much for visual feedback as it for speed. Even if it stayed one by one, it would be easier to keep track of what you've already checked if you had a global overview of what plugins are in the project. Something like a .txt file that lists all used plugins would be very helpful. Numerous times I have clicked past the plugins I am trying to omit, or accepted plugins I have already checked, and I've had to start again. Normally I duplicate the project file when trying to fix these kinds of things, as I'm worried I'll end up totally messing up the project file.
  9. Boz plugins are some of the most underrated going. The Hoser is still one of the best EQ's I've ever used.
  10. Just encountered this on an older project and it took forever to fix. Confusingly, the project opened fine in Sonar Platinum that I still have installed. I tried a Save As from there, but it still wouldn't open in CbB. However, that at least gave me a good idea on what plugin was potentially causing the crash (I just looked for plugins I don't frequent) Would love to see something more sophisticated here, if possible. It's genuinely the only real issue I run into with Cakewalk at this point.
  11. Both. Ultrasone Pro 1480i headphones that I know inside out, and small Genelecs that I switch to periodically. Both sources don't necessarily have to be great. One 'good' monitoring source, and just something for a different perspective can be enough. Personally, too many monitoring options confuses me. I'm comfortable with two sources that can I learn well, along with Izotope Tonal Balance Control (or similar) on the master to keep me in check. The more I switched/added monitoring options, the more I ended up fighting the mix.

  13. You're better doing this manually, clip gain works well instead of splitting and removing, as you can control how much you want to tame the noise. Sometimes things can sound strange if you get rid of everything. Waves NS-1 works OK for it too. It will no doubt be on sale, as Waves plugins seem to be on sale 24/7. Untitled design.mp4
  14. You can turn on clips as landmark in the snap settings. It won't stop the clip you're moving, but you'll feel it snap onto the top of the other clip. Edit>Preferences>Snap to Grid And of course, make sure Snap to grid is turned on (N is the shortcut)
  15. One example would be putting rhythm guitars and/or keys 100% wide once a track hits the chorus to open things up. It's a bit tough to envisage if you don't use grouping, but once you see the benefits control groups brings, you quickly encounter the irritation of automation not following the group Back to the original question, nested folders and enhanced export feature were two of my main asks and they have been implemented which is great. The only other bigger ask is an update to external insert functionality, I'm aware this isn't easy though. Other nice to haves would be bounce in place function a consolidated way of enabling/disabling/removing plugins when opening a project, especially in safe mode.
  16. Press F10 until the erase tool changes to 'M' and then click the note you want to mute. The colour will be stripped from the note once muted.

Aux tracks and busses are an option, but not ideal, sometimes I like to send my channels and FX returns to different places, so routing them to the same aux/bus doesn't work for me unfortunately. For example, I like to have a single fader controlling my snare bus, snare verbs and snare parallel compression, this way I can make sure that reverb levels and compression levels stay consistent as I dip and raise the snare level throughout a mix. However, sometimes I'll route my drum FX returns to a drum FX bus, and channels to a standard drum bus. This lets me compress/saturate the drum submix without affecting the reverb. VCA's give you control without altering the routing. I agree with @Base 57, if Cakewalk groups followed automation, everything would be sorted.
  18. Hi folks, I have already filed this with support, but I'm yet to hear back, so I thought I'd check if anyone here has encountered this issue. I have been working off a new template, and have noticed 5 mixes into a new album, that no audio is saving to the respective audio folder, after saving a standard CWP. I have replicated the issue on both my laptop and desktop PC. I have also tried saving the original template as CWP, saving to a new location, and saving as a CWP before importing audio. The problem still persists. Furthermore, any time I open the template, the 'Find missing audio' box appears, even though there is no missing audio to be found. I can't get rid of this box. I'm thinking this might be something to do with the issue? The clean audio folder option is greyed out in utilities. Any help would be great, as I don't fancy starting these 5 mixes from scratch unless I can help it. Cheers
  19. I personally prefer low contrast, flatter UI's. They are easier on my eyes for longer mixing sessions. Would be nice to have it switchable though!

  21. A great update to an already great product. Cakewalk is fully integrated with the Console One ecosystem and it's a dream to mix with, looking forward to giving this a shot.
  22. Perhaps I am misunderstanding you. However, like I stated, you can totally ignore the use of busses and only use aux tracks for submixing. This for one solves the issue of the busses being in a different section of the mixer panel. Aux tracks can be placed wherever you want. If you choose to only use aux tracks, the process would be the video below. All selected tracks feed to the aux track, and the aux track feeds to the master channel. Are you looking for essentially this, but instead of the aux automatically routing to the master, the new aux track routes to where the tracks where originally pointing? So, for example, if you have three tracks routing to a 'Drum Submix', you can route these channels to a new aux track, and this aux track automatically routes to the original 'Drum Submix'?
