@Tony p The double crop tool appears when there are abutting clips in the same track. If you move the pointer slightly in from the clip edge, you will be able to crop only the selected clip. You can also hold down the SHIFT modifier to temporarily bypass the double crop tool.

I can't get the pointer on the edge to change. BUT, the SHIFT button works as well. Ayayay, I dont know why I thought it was CTRL. Tried combining it with other buttons too.

    Thank you!

  2. Hi,

When working with lanes, and I try to hover the smart tool over the end of a clip so I can change its size, the smart tool changes to the one where it'll change the size of the selected clip, but will also change the size of other clips, in inverse manner. Sorry I dont know the name of the tool, but it looks like a double flag. So I have to move the clip to another track, make the size change, then return to original track. Is there a setting I can change?

Thank you very much for your help

  3. Hi CW,

I am running Melodyne 4 essential and using it as Region FX. When I go into Note Assignment Mode, the screen that shows the notes jumps to a different part of the song. So for example I am trying to edit a note in bar 1, when I go to Note assignment mode, the melodyne screen switches to bar 4. However on Cakewalk I see bar 1 and when I hit play I also hear bar 1, but Melodyne shows it is on bar 4. So it is impossible for me to cut the note at the right spot if I cannot see it on the screen as it is playing. This happens with none of the notes are selected btw. Please help!

    Thank you as always!

Assuming you mean Melodyne running from the Region FX menu, it is the VST3 plug-in.

Re-run the newest Melodyne installer and make sure the VST3 plug-in gets installed.

I uninstalled Melodyne from Windows uninstaller, and before I re-installed I opened up Cakewalk and it's still there (Although program detected 3 less plugins on startup and rebuilt plugin menu). I tried using that one and whole Cakewalk crashes. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

As a plugin as well. Let me try this out. Thank you as always

When I tried these keyboards the GX61 had bad Key action compared with LX. But Nectar says they are the same. There are some variations aswell due to bad quality control from these manufactures. Its always a good option to demo and buy. But more often you will notice most things only after you set it up and start using it for a day or two.

I really thought that it was bad manufacturing as well. But I also saw a video review with the same issue on the LX49. So it probably comes from a flaw in the design. Its a shame because otherwise I'm pretty happy with it.

Note that GX61 has no DAW controls except transport buttons.

You're underselling it a little bit. Take a look at page 21 here. You can do a lot more and customize a good bit. My favorite is the two led lights underneath the knob above the controls. When you switch tracks one of the led lights will light up red to let you know which way to turn before the knob is in sync with the software.

Hey Tony, I asked a similar question recently and you can view that thread and the advice I got here:

If your projects are backed up then basically you're good to go with the uninstall/reinstall and no, don't uninstall whatever plugs you have installed; they'll re-associate themselves with Cakewalk upon reinstallation and pretty much all your CbB settings will be intact too - all this was the case for me anyway for my recent uninstall/reinstall of CbB.

    Thank you Christian!

  9. Hey all,

So in having some issues with Melodyne and Cakewalk, Melodyne tech suggested I uninstall and re-install Cakewalk. I have all my projects backed up on a separate drive. Is there anything else that I should do before? I'm hoping that all my plugins are still there, and I wonder if I should just go for the whole thing and uninstall all the plugins as well.

    Thank you!

Hey Tony , how would you rate the GX 61 keybed compared with Arturia keylab essential keybed.

@azslow3  & others, is it possible to to get the preset navigation buttons (Left, Right, Up, Down, Select) working using ACT or any of these methods? These days many controllers come with these buttons but I am unable to map these controls in my M audio keystation. Currently looking for a new controller and I cant stop thinking how useful these controls can be. The need to reach for the mouse to select patches while playing is something I always hate doing.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the keybed on the Arturia. I don't think anyone should complain about that. Solid keys on the GX61 as well with one big caveat: there's the smallest amount of movement at the top of the action. It almost feels like they are slighttttly loose. There's an audible sound you hear before you actually press the key, sort of a click. Hard to describe, if you can test it out in a store I highly suggest you do. If you're a keyboard player it's going to bother you. I almost returned it. However at this price range and with the seamless integration to sonar I think it's good value. You get used to it.

    @Tony p and @Jasongs,

May I suggest you open a support request.  You can use the link in my signature.  Also the chief developer, Noel Borthwick, started a thread with details about crash dumps and how to provide them to the developers.  Here is a link to the thread:

The more information you can provide them the better chance the issue can get resolved.  This not only helps you but also helps all CbB users.

Hey fogle. I contacted Melodyne again after I made this post and the next thing they suggested was to uninstall and reinstall Cakewalk. Actually just logged in to the forums to seek advice on that. You think I should contact Noel instead? It's going to be a drag to uninstall.

Were the original projects created with a much earlier version of Melodyne? This could be the problem.

You could try renaming the Melodyne subdirectory within your project's folder. This may prevent Cakewalk trying to load it.

Hey Mcleod. They were projects that I just recently created to test out Melodyne.

After everything is installed, the Command Center is not necessary unless something gets messed up and needs to be reinstalled. Removing the Command Center does not free up much space (<100MB).

If you have not archived the installers from the Command Center cache, this is something to do that will free up quite a bit of disk space. The default for the download cache is a hidden folder - "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads"

    Sweet. Thank you

All of these have plug-ins not bundled with CbB. All the plug-ins bundled with 64bit SONAR may be used in CbB. Some of the later plug-ins bundled with Professional and Platinum require those products be installed for their installers to run.

I figured since they're already installed I wouldn't need Command Center anymore. I might just uninstall it and test it out.

  15. Hello all,

Just wondering if there's any benefit to keep Cakewalk Command Center around. I don't think I've noticed any updates since Bandlab took over. I am having some issues with Melodyne and I'm wondering if it has to do with Command Center. It's showing as having version 1.0001.something meanwhile I've downloaded the latest version which says 4.2.

On a related note, any reason to keep Sonar Professional?

    Thank you

  16. Just an update for anyone looking at this old thread:

I gave up on the Arturia Controller. With the limited way I was able to set it up it didn't feel like I was speeding up my workflow at all. Did not feel intuitive or like I was going to get the hang of it eventually. Also the controller doesn't have a on/off switch which is pretty disappointing, considering it has a bunch of lights going off when its idle. So the alternative is plugging and unplugging from the usb cable which is cumbersome and I'm sure not good over time.

However I must say, the Arturia sound catalog is amazing. I was able to re-sell the controller and keep the synths (Analog Lab 4). I purchased a Nektak Impact GX61 that seamlessly integrates with Cakewalk, and a NanoKontrol 2 for the physical faders and knobs. Nice little piece of equipment that works with Cakewalk as well.

  17. Hi all,

I was having some issues activating Melodyne so the company suggested I uninstall it and delete the file named  Celemony.license in C://User/USERNAME/Appdata*/Roaming/Celemony Software GmbH/Licenses. The program is now registered and I can use it and make edits as a standalone. However when I try to use it inside Cakewalk by creating Region Fx, Cakewalk just suddenly crashes with no warning. Also I tried setting up as a Re-wire track and as a plugin with same result.  Any ideas?

    Notes:

*Before I uninstalled Melodyne I opened up 2 projects in Sonar Professional to see if maybe Melodyne was activated there and not in Cakewalk but it wasn't. However those two projects are corrupt now and crash as soon as you try to open them.

    Thanks in advance!
