Jack , I really liked the song. Very much a Talking Heads vibe. I liked the guitar tone but was missing hearing some highs on it. Maybe copy and blend it with a cleaner toned track. I didn't feel or understand the dead silent stops , but I know what you were going for. Maybe they just weren't the right length or maybe needed a drum hit somewhere in it ?? As usual Great job on the vocals.. mark

    Warp 3

That was so immersive and captivating. Great use of space. I'm on a new laptop and not used to the groove player so I'm sure not going to make any suggestions. It sounded Great here. Loved the way you let everything drop out and down near the end. Very much enjoyed it .. mark
  3. "Congrats" on the release. Well done ! I always have mixed emotions about finishing a project and start immediately on a new one. Best of luck to you .. mark
  4. Great use of the wah ! All the winter rye grass around here is thick and bright green. The song fits the Wizard of Oz looking scenes in the farm fields and pastures around me. I sure would know how you get those great ringing tones on the acoustic tracks. Enjoyed the song .. mark
  5. https://soundcloud.com/user-810058643/yairi Drums are now down 2 db lower. I brought the bass down a little as well. I also brought the main mix up some before treating it with Ozone. That seemed to help with not having to compress the kick and lows (as much) to bring the level up. Special thanks to Mrs. Deering. Thanks ... mark
  6. "Thanks" for the comments and your suggestions that I used. I've made quite a few changes and the top link now reflects them. The drums and bass had lots of problems. I Re EQ'd the intro guitar , kick and bass. Retuning the kick also helped with the separation. (thanks treesha) I also panned the guitars further away from center. Tom , I've come to the conclusion I can't mix with headphones of any kind. Thank You ! to everyone. Unless something really stands out I'm calling this one done ... mark
  7. I just read in your 90 out of phase post , that you recorded the bass in "stereo" . That's not usually done if you want to keep a track narrow. I also saw the imager plugin there . Sorry I missed your earlier post before repeating here. ms
  8. Ozone imager is a good one for widening or narrowing a track. It's got good graphics that will "show" you the width of a track. I don't know if it's available as a single plugin or not. mark
  9. Another Great one! Great playing and lyrics. I liked the gravel in your voice. Enjoyed it . mark
  10. @timboalogo Thanks for the quick response. I really like someone to get Picky! I just worked on the kick drum and piano per Gary's suggestions. It sounded a Lot better. The intro bothered me as well after listening a few times thru. It seemed like a different guitar was doing the intro. I may have to automate an EQ for that part. Never done it before but I'll figure it out. As far as the snare , I'll do what I can . I'll Never load up these SI drums again without having Full access to each drum. Something else to learn . Thanks .. mark
  11. Thanks Gary , I Always respect and listen to your opinions. I'm also having a problem with the kick And the bass. I'm on it. Except for the intro , the panning is constant , but the L/R rhythm guitar tracks are somewhat syncopated and may be causing a problem near the end. The lead guitar lives between the two. I'll look at it. Years ago I traded this guitar to my best friend for a cello. He recently passed away and willed it back to me. This is more than just another song to me , I really appreciate the help. I'm open to any suggestions from any of the great forum members here. Thanks .. mark
  12. P.S. I loved the photo of the young girl flipping me off. I was hoping it was a stock photo but couldn't find it on line.

    Yairi

Here's one I'm trying to finish up and could use some help on. First time recording with my DY-77 Yairi , first time trying to use cb-1 headphones for mixing. I keep going back and forth between phones and monitors and no longer trust my ears. It's pretty minimal , drums/bass , 3 acoustic tracks and SI elec. piano thru arp. Thanks for the listen . mark New link further down. Sorry ..
  14. Well done and Very creative. That was quite a trip you took me on . I believe this was a lot more than just a little different... mark
  15. Fantastic ! That was so calming with just the right amount of tension with the minor chord phrases. Great performance and mix. mark
  16. Lee , I believe the break from writing worked out . This was great and full of energy. Fine job on the vocals and harmony. Enjoyed everything about it . mark
  17. That was Very well written and performed. I really like the deep crispness in your voice and loved the tone of the backing guitars. Nearly a 6 min song it didn't seem long at all. Great job mark
  18. Thanks for the wonderful reply's and comments. I guess I need do do some more short ones .. @DeeringAmps did you take your Justin Bieber poster down yet ? @Barry Seymour The full mix is on a flash drive somewhere. I'm neck deep in a new song now , I'll probably get back to it soon. The low fi hiss was probably swamp gas . This was actually written about the BP oil spill while I was on the coast. My younger brother sang it like Forrest Gump. I'll have to rework it. Thanks .. mark

    road No. 1922

Very nice Surf music. I enjoyed it all the way thru. I wish I had a guitar with a tremolo bar , it sure adds a lot. The video was nice and kept my attention as well. Enjoyed it .. mark
  23. It's amazing what comes out of your head .. I liked it , but not sure if I enjoyed it.
  24. Treesha , I Liked it ! Couple of timing glitches that got my attn. mainly on some drum parts. I'd mute the vocals and bring the drums up until' my head started bobbing , then bring the vocals Up. Both seem to be way too low . Around the 2 min. mark , it sounded like you doubled the vocals. That sounded Good. Maybe more doubling in the verses. Great to hear you singing . I have No problem boosting another singers vocals , but when it comes to mine , I'm always way too conservative. Boost the vocals .. If the get too hot believe me , someone will tell you. Great song I Really enjoyed it .. mark
