  1. Most of my work nowadays is remixing old projects, some going back more than 20 years to guitar tracks pro. A template is great for new projects but I can't decide if it's better to import the old projects into a new template, or just try to work with them as they are. If I import into the template it's still involves a lot of reassigning outputs and adding sends since every project has a different number and different types of tracks. Keeping it in the original form isn't that great either. Anyone have any tips for workflow to save time when you go back to old projects? Thanks

Be aware that you can delete the dead space inside Melodyne (along with any unwanted noises).

I used to clean up the clips before applying Melodyne, but nowadays I find it redundant, as all editing can be done within Melodyne.

My workflow for vocals is basically: record (using comp) - create the master comp track - duplicate this composite track (for safety reasons) - apply melodyne to the whole track - edit, edit, edit.... - render the edited track.

But this is a workflow that suits my needs. I'm sure everyone develop a prefered workflow that serves them well.

For complex recordings, you can even apply melodyne to assorted clips inside the comp track to adjust timing, etc, before commiting to a master track.

Andres, a very late response... I've been looking in melodyne and I don't see where you can delete dead space or unwanted noises? I only have melodyne assistant, maybe it takes a more advanced version?

  3. late response: My file structure is C/Cakewalk Projects & Cakewalk Content. The files are very small but no idea what they are. I can't open them. They're so small it may be more trouble to delete than it's worth since they're scattered into different folders.

  4. Sorry if this is a dumb question but are melodyne files stored somewhere else besides as well as being rendered into cakewalk? Just trying to know if there are files I can delete to free up space. Thanks

  5. Can I use the same side chain input from a vocal bus to two different vsts on an instrument bus - an equalizer for unmasking and a compressor for ducking? These seem like two different functions to me but are they redundant? I'd be interested in other people's experience. Thanks

  6. Do most of you split the clips into smaller portions, or remove the dead space in between phrases before creating region effects for melodyne? I used to just create region effects for the entire vocal, but now I'm wondering if it's more efficient or more accurate to do it one clip at a time. It seems like more work but just wondering what other people do. Thanks.
