  1. Struggling here.

I can see that when the SI hi hat starts off at 75bpm as per the backing track, first 2 beats are fine and then it gets slightly ahead of the click track after a few bars. But the temp map says it is 75bpm and surely the midi hi hat must follow the 75bpm project tempo? So why is it going out of sync? One of the tracks must be wrong.

  2. A question; is there a quick reliable way of replacing Karaoke version click tracks with a midi hi hat? Obviously its what triggered my request for help, but whilst I now seem to have the groove clip looing thing working, I still struggle to get it to match the Karaoke version click track. It starts off in time then creeps out of synch, I wonder is the downloaded click track out a little?

so, using the smart tool you're seeing this icon on the edge of the clip you're trying to extend?

in this example, it was a single measure using Step Sequencer to create the MIDI and then groove loop it then stretch using smart tool. so far, i have not be able to reproduce this issue - in existing or new projects.

    Hi Glenn,

Just did this again with the smart tool and yes the cursor changes as per your screenshot. Now I know this seems unlikely but I guarantee last time I did exactly this the cursor didnt change at all, I tried several times.Maybe its me but CW seems to do things then decide not too. But so far it works now thanks.

If the clip was created in Step Sequencer, it's already a Groove Clip, and there is no need to right-click for anything. Just hovering over the edge of the clip will display the slip-edit cursor as Glenn's screenshot shows and left-click will grab the edge to roll it out.

I know you want to figure this out for yourself, and I'm all for 'teaching a man to fish', but did you try the Groove Clip I shared?

I did, but embarrassingly, didn't know what to do with it! Remember you are dealing with someone with the ability of a small Hamster when it comes to CW!

  5. And now, just to add to my stress, I opened another ( different) track and tried to extend the drum track. ( i don't want anyone to think I am not trying to suss things out myself instead of relying on the forum all the time) and this time the groove clip looping worked fine. It didn't line up though so I deleted it and did it again. This time guess what? it didn't work. No change of cursor not able to drag, and yes the right hand corner of the clip has changed to indicate looping is on.

I am now pulling what little hair I have out. CW is SO inconsistent, I literally did not change one setting, and it decided not to work.

  6. I'm still looking to see if I can do this fix myself; I opened a standard template, and created an SI drum kit track. Then I went to the step sequencer and programmed 4 measures on the hi hat. I right clicked for groove clip looping and this time the cursor changes shape and I can drag the clip along to create a complete track . I always used to do this with no problems, dozens of times in the past, but with my latest track it stopped working. Either there's a gremlin in CW out to get just me, or ( more likely) I've inadvertently changed a setting.

  7. Hi all,

Okay I'm trying to add a hi hat track to my backing track as the karaoke version click track sounds awful. ( its a quiet ballad and i don't want it coming through the monitors and being heard by the audience)

So I am trying to add a hi hat track using the CW SI drums. I can do 4 bars pressing alt 2 and hitting f sharp( hi hat) but i want to repeat this all the way through the song; but groove clip looping just doesn't work; I tried bounce to clip but still no joy. I know I'm doing something daft, clues please?

  8. Hi all,

I hope this is the right place to add my comment, its an extension of the above so I guess so.

Okay, so I'm progressing with using YouLean to adjust the LUFS on my backing tracks, with varying degrees of success. But my problem is , on some tracks, they are very quiet to start with, they downloaded like that I reckon, and need to be louder; so using the master gain I lift the volume, aiming for round -14 LUFS integrated. trouble is, this sometimes ends up on full gain, all the way to the right, and it starts distorting with clipping in the VUs.

Is there a solution to this/ Am I doing something wrong?

  9. Hi all

Still a bit confused about this. I've got my backing tracks edited, LUFS sorted ( thanks all for that advice!) etc. Click track panned to the right, main track to left, splitter cable from my iPad  can send click track to monitors, main track to front of house. But i still cant grasp the significance of exporting in stereo or mono? I exported in stereo ( CW default option) and it seems to work. Am I missing something or is this ok? Or is it ok either way?

  10. Hi all,

I'm using backing tracks downloaded from karaoke version, abd i am replacing the click track intro with hi hat as it sounds nicer. How do I match the bpm of the backing track and its click track to the SI hi hat? I can do this manually by moving the event but it takes a while. Does the bpm of the backing track need to be matched to the CW track or is there an easier way?
