  1. How would I use these; is there a particular Cakewalk folder where I would place them? Or is there another method... (noob but learning! 🙂
  2. Ah, my noobieness is showing... OK, I think I understand... for example, I was trying to figure if the arp can output the modded midi to a track, so I can remove a few of the notes manually... couldn't seem to do this... So, when talking about patterns, is that what you mean... the underlying part of the software that are the rules that say what notes to add/where? I'm making an educated guess because coding I know... it's making music (other than an actual instrument) that I don't know much about. 😕 So, is that possible, output the results of the arp to a midi track... (audio seems to be a piece of cake) but much harder to edit... well, for me anyway. ZMC
  3. When I use the Arpeggiator with an existing Midi track, naturally it modifies the way the notes are played based on the Arpeggiator settings... but. I'm getting a few triplets. which is OK, but what I want to do is to send (record) the Arpeggiator modified Midi to a new track but I can't seem to record this to a new midi. I can send the modified output from the Arpeggiator to an audio track, and could modify that... but what I really want to do is create a midi track with the newly arpeggiated notes and variations so I can modify the midi. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? 1. Have existing midi track recorded at another time, messed around with the Arpeggiator, and it adds some notes and other changes to the output; I thought if I could record that as a midi output of some kind, I could then have a new track with the arpeggiated midi notes which I can add or remove notes from. 2. I created a new empty midi track and tried various input and output setting between the new track hoping the new track would record the midi; but it's not happening. 3. I first simply tried just setting the new midi track to record, and since the midi is using an instrument. I tried modifying the instrument track output but there's no setting for that to point it to the new midi track. I tried just using the existing midi track created when an instrument is added (see note below), and tried to record this, to get a midi track to the right of the instrument section... I've done this before; but I think I got lucky because I can't do it again... I'm struggling with learning how calkewalk midi sends can be routed to another track for recording. I seem to be missing some critical understanding. (IOW I presume a mid track can send midi out on some channel, and a new blank midi track could be set to record that midi out, to use it as midi in to record the modified midi track which is modified by the arpeggiator. I struggled at first to get audio tracks created from a midi track with associated instrument, but I'm started to get that part down.. So, far, I can only create an audio from midi with instrument for one midi/instrument at a time... (I'll learn as I go if it's possible to record, or if the computer can handle creating multiple audio tracks simultaneously; but I suspect this could really drag the system if it's even possible. So, the audio is being recorded from the master output, and this is great; but, what I can't figure is how to make a midi from a midi track. Copy and paste is great for duplications... but, I want to capture the arpeggiated notes as midi... is this possible... I figure I have to record it; but, how to set up the internal connections for inputs and outputs of the two tracks eludes me. Any help would be appreciated! Note: when I play my keyboard, or otherwise record a midi track... and want to use a different instrument for playback, I create an instrument track, and point the midi track input to all external, or none, and the midi track output to the instrument track. The instrument track input is "all external", and the output, in my case, is set to my Monitor so I can hear it. (No microphones or monitors are currently being used though I do have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Studio, Headphone but that is not currently hooked to this machine? 🙂
  4. I can't believe no one responded to this; I'm fairly new to Cakewalk; and so I just started playing with the Arpeggiator. I found it pretty simple, at least with the current version of cakewalk. What I did was play with settings until I got something I wanted to keep; then I clicked presets, and save... later, in another project I just went back into presets and the preset I saved was listed, loaded it and there ya go.. Bob's your uncle! It was the same settings that I saved. Seemed pretty straightforward to me, not sure what more I could say; but if you have a question, I'd try to answer. 😉
  5. My headset is USB (a combo headphone and microphone) I had selected headset; but, was using the Scarlett2i2 for input. Chose in Cakewalk the 2i2 for input (microphone), and USB headset for Output. Everything recorded fine; and played through the Monitor, if I chose that device; but would not play through the headphones... Read in this thread that perhaps the Windows bitrates were mismatched for USB (Cakewalk being 44100, and Windows default (48000) ; so after a bit of searching, I found and changed the bitrate setting and the USB headset worked! If you don't know where this in on your Windows 10 computer; follow these steps. 1. In your system tray (Bottom Right). Right Click the Speaker Icon 2. Left Click "Open Sound Settings" 3. Ensure your USB Device is listed as the default Device, if not select the device you're using and set as default. 4. Next, on the right side of the screen, click the option "System Control Panel" 3. A small pop-up window, titled "Sound" should appear (if you don't see it, minimize the larger windows until you see it; it may be behind another window that is open, and it did not automatically pop to the top when selected.) Every audio device your system recognized should appear here. 5. Select the USB device you're using as input or output (output USB Headset in my case), which should change color to indicate it is selected. 5. A new pop-up window opens, titled USB Headset properties, or whatever device you selected. 6. At the bottom right side of the window, Click "Properties". 6. Select the TAB, at the top, titled "Advanced". 7. Here you will find the default (or previously selected) bitrate that Windows is using for that device. If the problem is a mismatched bitrate; it will be set to 48000 which is Windows default. Click the drop down box and select 44100, the bitrate for Cakewalk. 8. Your headset should now work if selected in the track for playback; if it does not; there may be an issue with the device; or you may need to select this device in Cakewalk/Preferences/Devices/Output Drivers/your device. Although I'm a computer professional; even I forget where these settings are from time to time; I hope this helps. 🙂
