I've watched multiple tutorials from @Creative Sauce and they're all awesome. This one is no exception. I like and subscribe and ring the bell. I do have one problem with the video, and that is how to correctly pronounce capo. I thought I was correct in pronouncing it "capo" but after the video, now I'm not sure if I should be pronouncing it "capo". If anyone can articulate the correct pronunciation, I can regain my will to live!

All good input (no pin intended). I have an ART tube dual preamp that sounds really good. I use that for guitar that I'm only going to effect with plugins. I have a Mesa DC3 combo that I mic when I want that overdriven warm sound that I can't get with Guitar Rig or L6 Pod plugins. I know how my playing changes based on the sound coming out, so maybe I'll just use the mic'd amp for my input and have a headphone mix with plugin fx in it for the feel. Thanks!

So, if I understand correctly, the DI signal isn't being routed through your guitar amp? I prefer the sound of a mic'd amp over DI. I bought an amp just for that purpose. I suppose I could use the amp head output, but if my input is routed through a stomp box, then the direct out on the amp would have the effect in it. Hmm?

How do you set that up?

Hey Group Years ago I had a couple stomp boxes stolen, and I never replaced them because I'm 99% recording in the box. I just started missing them and wondered, of those here that mic their amps when they record guitar, how many of you record with a stomp box effect applied? I know there's no going back or dialing in like with software, but I guess my old school is showing!!

Hey Group I've been producing my own material for decades now and most of that time has been with Cakewalk. I've been a member of Taxi on and off for 7 years and feel like I've moved onto the next phase of my musical journey. It wasn't until recently, that I came to the realization that one of my favorite things about producing music is the actual production process. I love going into my studio, firing up the DAW and just everything about it (except technical problems, but that's a topic for another day). When I was a member of Taxi, they enforced the approach of building your catalog as quickly as possible. I believe the montra was, 'write, submit, repeat' or something like that. Since I'm my only client, I find that approach of producing ASAP to be more like chowing down a lobster tail to get it done. Where I don't fault those that can whip out a track in one day, and I certainly respect those that can while maintaining a high quality, I'm realizing I don't enjoy that as much. I like to savor the process. Am I unique? Does anyone else take their time creating and producing tracks because they enjoy the process? Again, I don't have or want any clients--that's a whole different thing. Just wondering...

I always buy keyboard controllers with too many keys for the type of music I do. Had an Oxygen 61 key and now a Radium 49 key. With being able to select octive ranges, still too many keys!

Don't let the free price confuse you into thinking it's not just as good or better than other DAWs running $300 - $500 US. 😉

Hello Group For some reason, I can't seem to figure out how to stop all take lanes within the same track from following when I try to slip edit one take lane. They are not selected and the main track wave form is not selected, but when I try to slip edit one take lane, they all follow. Thanks!

Wouldn't install for me either, so I just went the website and downloaded it from there. Every few versions won't install and I have to do this. Easy workaround.

Hey All I was watching a tutorial on using Melodyne on backing vocals, and saw there was a Project View in Melodyne where the person could show the melody blobs of two separate tracks in one Melodyne view in for comparison. The topic wasn't how to set that up, so I don't know how. I have Melodyne 4 editor edition, so maybe it's a different version thing, but can someone tell me how to reference more than one track at once in Melodyne? 😀

I do my own mastering in Wavelab. I tried the BL mastering options before and was underwhelmed with the end results. I can do better.

There are a bazillion ideas you're going to get from this group, but let me add a couple ideas that are just my opinion. First, I don't know what kind of sound you're looking for other than distorted guitar, and that's very generic. I've tried both DI with modeling software and micing an amp, and I very much prefer the overdrive sound of my little Boogie combo amp hands down. I don't know what kind of amp you have, but if you can dial in a sound you like, just make sure you're not adding too much gain at the interface or CbB stage. That's what comes to mind when you say your headphone mix sounds good. Another trick I came up with long ago was with a cable splitter, or a Y adapter where all 3 sides are 1/4 inch females. With two of them and enough guitar cables, you can split your guitar signal where only half goes through a distortion box and the other goes into your signal unprocessed. Sounds a little like a Franken-setup, but it gave me a cool parallel sounding distortion without being too much.
