  1. Phew! So, your CW projects load quickly. What other DAW related tasks do you see benefiting from the m.2's?
  2. I have SATA SSD's and I'll never go back to HDD. I was just wondering about the comparison of SATA SSD's to NVMe's in a DAW context.
  3. Awesome! I work for a company that makes the NVMe's and that's where I got the idea. BTW - How many cores/threads is Cakewalk showing there for your CPU? I can't quite count them (24?). I thought my 12 was a lot!
  4. Hey All-- NVMe is all the rage in gaming PC's and it got me thinking to ask this forum is anyone has made the jump in their DAW? Any noticeable improvements in any aspects of your workflow speed, load time, etc? Curious at this point...
  5. Pressing W will rewind all the way back to zero, regardless of when your tracks/project starts. You can configure the transport to rewind to the Now time when you press stop (space bar) if you want. You can set the Now time to anywhere in your project.
  6. You've gotten much farther than I ever got. I tried years ago when I still had external hardware and never got it to sync. It sort of forced me to do everything in the box, and now I don't have any external HW except for a mic pre. Maybe someone else can comment, but I wanted to share that your inconsistent results with the latency are not unique.
  7. RAM is pretty cheap these days. If your wallet, and your rig can handle it, I recommend going to 16 GBs. You might not need it, but the headroom I've had has been very nice with some of the sample libraries I use. Just my opinion. I'm sure someone here has just as many examples of why 16 GBs of RAM isn't necessary--but I've been very happy with 16.
  8. Hmm--something's wrong. I voted to get things started, and my one vote counted in each category. 😞 Where's the delete post button!
  9. @synkrotron I have to agree. I don't quite get a headache, but definitely get bored. I respect their individual musicianship and tightness as a band, but I don't get into that genre of music at all. In fact, when I watched their live video, I found myself forwarding all the parts where their singer comes in. I think he sits backstage and watches the concert on CC TV or something, and then when his parts are coming up, he leaves the green room, hits the stage for his part, and then goes backstage again. Works for me since it's easy to see when he's on and off stage while in FF mode. Again--no disrespect. Just a matter of taste. ( I do like several of those Music Man guitars though! Wouldn't mind having one of those one bit!)
  10. Rode NT1000. Coming up on having it 15 years. I used to work in the pro audio department of GC and had the freedom to a/b a bunch of mics in their studio. I put the Rode up against Shure and Blue and found it just as responsive and 'colorless' as the others, but a slight bit quieter. The lower price made the deal for me. Since then, I've had an opportunity to work with their customer service department and they are awesome! They sent me a free hoodie for a mix up that wasn't even their fault! That goes a long way with me!
  11. When you address a post to someone, just start it with the "at" symbol, and then start typing their name (with no space after the 'at' sign) You will see their name resolve, then just press enter and complete your post like normal. The purpose is that they are alerted that their name was used, and it (hopefully) brings them to the post sooner. I 'at mentioned' you in my reply. You can see your name at the bottom like a tag. It's a social media feature.
  12. I think the 'at mention' function works in this forum--if you want to try it in your post. @jono grant
  13. My DAW is actually a really good one and I'm not seeing any dropouts at this point. It was more of a general knowledge question. In my current project, the PC works great because I can copy the EQ settings to another track(s) when all I need to do is reverse a Q carve-out etc. Since I was moving along nicely with that method, it crossed my mind about the resource comparison. I've got some tracks I can freeze if I start to run out of juice! 😎
  14. Thanks for the buss suggestions. The settings are different in my case. I do have a buss comp for the 'glue' but I'm taming track transients and carving out EQ for balance, so I also need a per track solution.
  15. Yeah, I'm asking because I need to use EQ and comp on most if not all tracks. The PC would just have EQ and comp.
  16. Yeah, thought about that after I posted. Bad example. I'll update my post.
  17. Hey Group-- I'm trying to see if the EQ (glossy) and compressor from the CW Pro Channel typically use more or less computer resources than say, a comparable 3rd-party plug-in? Anyone tested that? Thanks, Stephen
  18. @James Argo Love your avatar! I remember that was the emergency stuck midi button in ancient Cakewalk, right?!
  19. Nope. I went from being a drummer, to loops, to drum sampled midi grooves, ala kontakt sampler. I do assign each drum to a separate track for control. Never used maps though.
  20. Let's see. Is Vegas Pro abandonware? Acid? Sound Forge? First owned by Sonic Foundry, then Sony. Now Magix. Does that make it abandonware any more than Cakewalk? Nuff said...

  22. What record mode are you in? See if you're in comping. Not normal behavior, but you should rule that out.
