  1. thanks jack!! these files that stream from soundcloud, were uploaded as 24 bit/48khz files, mastered for about -14 LUFS. the actual cd files were mastered a bit hotter.
  2. hi barry! glad you dig this tune... drums are superior drummer 3.0. heavily edited. low fi, it's super hi fi here, that is probably just the stupid downgrading of the wonderful 24 bit 48khz files i uploaded to soundcloud, playing them at 128 kpbs! the track needs the weight of the low end, IMHO, and needs to be played back on a full range system to really enjoy what's going on.
  3. thanks tom... leslie west, now THERE is a name drop! maybe not so much with the wah work, but yea i get that appreciate the thoughts there T
  4. https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/track/neon-blues Neon Blues: this is the only song on the new album that was directly influenced by the Covid Pandemic. The name of the album is Elemental; Neon is the 10th element on the periodic table of elements; Neon blues is the 10th song of the album. The 1st half of the song, is to represent the lockdowns, the social pull back, the fear of the future, the heartbreak of the relentless wave of bad news… the 2nd half represents the pushback of science, the battle against the virus, the struggle to get back to a fully functioning society. The Battle is not won yet. Hence the vibe of the song is both sad and hopeful at the same time. album here: Bandcamp: https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/
  5. hi michael! hey, thanks for the comments, yea, the entire album was special... it's all instrumentals, 1st one in 5 albums. if you can get through THIS one, you would dig them all, i think.
  6. i guess folks are busy but you werent! thanks man..
  7. it wasn't zep, i was thinking kashmir, and that's 6/8...
  8. "Our first award goes to the vampires for most blood drained in a single evening." 😁
  9. heheh, you say 'many', but only 3 people have listened! 🙉 oh well, i know it's a fun song, and i think many others here would totally dig it! 7/8 is fun to play in, because there are so many options for syncopation, you can go with the straight time thru the whole thing, or live off of the 3/4 sections, i think zep had a song that was 7/8...
  10. Alright wookiee! So glad you got to hear this one, The meter Actually feels quite natural to me You get to straight dance and waltz in one measure!
  11. hey john! so glad you dig this one... yea, soundcloud has that element to it... makes it not so attractive. no, haven't heard KALEIDOSCOPE before...tho i have heard a lot of david lindley.. thanks for the heads up!
  12. https://soundcloud.com/bats-brew/the-day-they-robbed-the-bank-of-england The Day They Robbed the Bank of England: this is a proper cops and robbers story put to a progressive rock structure written in 7/8 time, to create edgy tension. The song title, is from a late 50’s movie about, you guessed it, the robbing of the bank of England. The fact that the siren blows by them at the end, implies that either they got away, or the spectator of the whole thing is quietly watching from a dark alley. done entirely with a Strymon Iridium for all guitar and bass parts. this is from the new Bats Brew album "Elemental" available here: Bandcamp: https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/
  13. hey david! yes, different, this one... but it has a clear path, to a vibe or feeling... it was a nice change. i have more of these...
  14. hello noynekker! thanks man, that's real nice of you to say... no 12 string, just a pair of acoustic 6 string tracks, playing some different voicings, to make it sorta sound like a 12 string. soft fingers, i hear you... i have 'tenderfoot' all the time now!! heheh, don't get to play enough. here's a pic of the guitar trio used on this tune:
  15. howdy wookiee, man, that's so nice of you to say, i appreciate those kudos, i really do. thanks.
  16. hey jack! it's nice to go day trippin'!! heheh, i appreciate the comments
  17. does anybody else hear what they think is an 'accordian' on this mix? asking for a friend. heheh
  18. i think the slide made this tune... even tho it was written on piano!
  19. thanks ruralrocker! appreciate the comment
  20. hey rocker! it SHOULD sound authentic! it is!! heheh... i don't do anything midi, except the drum programming on the rock tunes. this is all played in front of a mic. the electrics, like i said before, are all capture direct from a Strymon Iridium pedal. bass too.
  21. alright lynn! this softer acoustic based stuff, is a great chill mode for me... i didn't really think the slide parts thru, i had the acoustics done, and didn't know what to do with them.. then the melody for the slide parts just popped in my head, that was one session to do all the slide parts, so it WAS kinda unpredictable, even for me!! thanks man
