Now, my question: does anyone know of any cool android apps that work with midi controllers for making music. I've downloaded Caustic, but it's quite old. Anything cool and recent?

Bandlab. Best mobile music making app for Android. Haven't tried n-Track Studio but it's free. Caustic 3 and FM Synthesizer are free options too.

I ended up getting arturia minilab mk 2 for only $79 because of a sign mistake at guitar center. It came with analog lab intro.  I got offered an upgrade to full analog lab v for $39 so I basically got controller and lab v for less than price of controller. I am loving it. Does make me want v collection.

    $79?!?! What a steal!

(talking to myself) I finally found it! No wonder I liked it so much. It is a Large diaphragm tube condenser mike. It is a Mojave Audio MA300 Tube Condenser Microphone. It's not cheap but wow it really sounds great.

    So glad you found it!!

  4. (I see that this post is old but I'll post for others too)

I've never used the Komplete Audio 2 but I have and currently use the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen. The setup is super easy and it is also easy to find the Focusrite website for setup and for the awesome included software. The 2i2 does come with possibly one of the best software packages I've ever seen currently containing Addictive Keys, Addictive Drums, and AutoTune Access, all for free. The interface itself is very good and high quality, and I like the air feature.

  5. I recently came across the TONOR TC20. It is only $60!!

It comes with a sturdy boom arm, foam cover, popfilter, shock mount, XLR cable, and of course, the microphone itself. It is an absolute steal for the price! There are plenty of YouTube reviews that would agree with me and I believe that this kit should be much more expensive. Probably the best budget mic out there!

  6. I'm gonna give a few good microphones!

I've heard the Neumann TLM102 is good but too expensive for me to try. - $700 https://www.neumann.com/homestudio/en/tlm-102

Rode NT1 is a good microphone.

The cheapest good condenser XLR microphone I could find was the TONOR TC20 Microphone Kit. It comes in at around $60 I think and it also comes with a foam cover, boom arm, popfilter, cable, and shock mount! I bought this mic kit and it's an absolute steal for the price. Worth a shot.

  7. I literally just bought this keyboard. Am loving it so far! Analog Lab is AMAZING! UVI Grand Piano I haven't gotten it to work so far because there are already good pianos in my plugin library but Analog Lab coming with the MIDI controller is already a steal! I havent had any problems with the actual keyboard either

  8. I don't know too much about violins but there are a couple good violins.

    Sample Science French Violin: https://www.samplescience.info/2021/07/french-violin.html

Orchestral Tools SINEfactory and Layers have pretty good string and orchestra sounds: https://www.orchestraltools.com/store/collections/layers

I think Spitfire Audio LABS has good strings and violin https://labs.spitfireaudio.com/#type=strings&new=true

Finally, Spitfire has BBC Symphony Orchestra which costs $49 OR you can take a survey, wait less than a month, and have an amazing virtual orchestra delivered to you. https://www.spitfireaudio.com/shop/a-z/bbc-symphony-orchestra-discover/

Is it possible to import a video (mp4) in cakewalk for audio editing? Some parts are out of sync with the video which isn’t too big of a deal..

The main and most important thing I want to to do is clean up some distortion and eq old home Videos (vhs tapes). I have plugins that would easily fit the bill. Just not sure how to use them other than importing into cakewalk.

They are lengthy tapes, some around 5 hours long.

    Thanks ahead for time.

There is a great video editor tool called Davinci Resolve. It is very professional and completely free!! It is however a very large download so I don't know if you have space but it's only about a GB. It functions similar to Premiere Pro and it also has a great audio editor with a mixer. There are also tons of tutorials. It's like an audio editor built into a video editor. Maybe try it out?

  11. SKATOR, I most definitely recommend Vital. Although I do not really dabble with synthesizers, this is one of my favorites. It is very similar to Serum but COMPLETELY FREE! You can use Vital to learn sound design and create your own presets, or you can find plenty of free presets online. (Komplete Start also contains many free gems).
