  1. I bought the lib last night. I had been looking at this before . It isn't a runaway steal but it's a good value for what it is. Much more than a simple sample library. You have an arpeggiator, the ability to put all music keys on the white keys making playing things easier. Multiple mic positions and playing positions. Lots of control over the sound itself and the classic soundiron fx area to mangle in any way you wish. I have several other harps and this is the the best of those. Highly recommended.
  2. Thanks CClarry. That's a nice harp. Tempting. Soundiron has delivered some great libraries for good prices.
  3. Thanks. This might be a way to get to Acid Pro for less in the future. Maybe.

Beagle Tom and John. Thanks so much for commenting. Yes I haven't had time to work that midi automation yet. Thank you for re affirming that. @soundregionThe strings are Amadeus. I might have thrown a few Soundiron strings in there too. I honestly forget TBH. Thanks for your comments.

I liked this. The guitar parts are what make it IMO.A very melancholic yet medium paced piece. Has a contemplative feel while on the move. I don't hear a vocal in this. I personally can't put a date on this like 70's. I think it sounds current . Thanks for sharing!
  6. A lot for a web surfing machine. Not a lot for a recording computer...well ok it's a lot but worth it.
  7. Thanks for your thoughts on this. I would rip the crotch out of my pants trying to reach that back row of pedals 🙄 Might cause other issues I won't go into here.😲 Never considered the portability issue as the driving factor. I keep all of my stuff in the studio and have another set of stuff I take out. Jim, thanks for bringing up the transformer issue. That's a big one for me. Decent pre amps generally rely on good heavy transformers. I guess I need a better reason to plop down over 500.00 for a box with a some sockets and a power supply. I don't mean to sound sarcastic or to downplay anyone who went that route. When I buy a pre amp though, it's going to be more about the sound than the size.
  8. There no longer appears to be hardware forum. I seen an "Instrument And Effects" area but I didn't feel this fit there. I'm looking at adding some better microphone pre amps in the future and looked at 500 series boxes which begin in the neighborhood of 300.00 for the most basic 500 series box. For that price all you get is A- A place to put your 500 series modules and B- a way to power those modules. Prices for the modules are close to standard rack gear prices, so I guess I'm wondering what the real advantage is other than a more compact foot print. If you bought 500 series stuff what attracted you to it? What are the advantages? The form factor looks like a nice way to line a few better than average pre amps up side by side using very little space. I don't really see any other advantages especially for the asking price of those boxes. Maybe someone knows why the mounting boxes are so expensive?

This one sounds like you had a lot of fun making it. Interesting combination of elements here. You already had the synth techniques down well...branching into sampled orchestral sound only made it better!
  10. Blown away by what you did here. Great work!
  11. The video really add a lot to this. Nice playing!
  12. Excellent retro tune Freddy! I enjoyed this!

Ugh. Not sure abut that link @Harry C.. I'll check it out and thanks for the comments. @SteveCThank you!
  14. Sorry for your loss. We both know it isn't the end, but that doesn't help the fact that we can't call em' up and chat anymore.
  15. I keep forgetting the Chinese new year is later. Happy new year! Can we celebrate again?
  16. Uh.....I think I need to get my headphones checked out.
  17. Great job on this man. Thanks for sharing!
  18. I guess it all depends on your main objectives Andy. I know you are very much an ITB kind of guy. I would do as you propose and look at hardware control of more parameters if I were working ITB. There is some very cool gear out there older and used with amazing midi control built in. More recent developments are some of the Softube stuff. I'll never forget my old CME 88 key controller. What was unique about it was it had a midi tempo dial. I could speed up/slow down midi mixes at will. CME went through some driver compatibility issues and fell out of favor with lots of musicians for that reason. Are you using hardware synths as well?
  19. I agree John. Just now reading this. I only wish I could have been there.
  20. @yapweiliang I like what you did with it and thanks! It hasn't been difficult for me to move the parts around. I simply drag them to the right place. Having the other track was helpful because I could line up the visual wave forms. I added my real violin to this alongside the flute. I'm not sure if I would keep it like that. The idea was to pan the flute slight left and the violin slight right. I like the treatment to the flute since it opens it up and lets that track breathe more. The only issue with the flute is I am hearing clicks in that part even after mix down. Not sure why. The file doesn't seem to be a low res file and I don't think the clicks were added during processing. Somehow that part seems to have picked up clicks that I can't explain. Initially I thought it was latency. I understand your intent is to use BL for those who have cell phones and I think it's good for that. I downloaded the app for my android yesterday. I was impressed that I could pull up our mix while sitting in my car and even edit tracks. Pretty cool stuff! The BL UI is well thought out for what it is and looks easy to use. I would never in a million years have thought to use my smart phone to mix, but now I can see a use there even if only basic. Not so sure about the recording end of it right now. Makes a great ideas thing. I could see myself putting in basic audio for ideas purposes on the smart phone. You may have noticed the last Cakewalk update includes the ability to both import and export tracks to and from Cakewalk. This should make things a lot easier when using both programs. One main advantage to this is the band can hear everything almost in real time. No need to wait for a track in dropbox. One member can have the same mix in Cakewalk or all can. Depending on the band environment this could be a huge advantage. I mean, it's a group of people who got together to make music and exchange ideas about that music. I think this is a great way to do that. I liked the piano track you sent. Well done. Pleasure working with you too.I'll leave it up to you what you want to do in the future. I might send a track out to the "band" in the near future. If you like what it is and want to add parts feel free. If someone else wants to add a part feel free on this. If you have an idea send it over. Tim,
  21. @yapweiliang , I added a sax part and an acoustic guitar. I did a little work on the existing flute and uploaded that track. The pne thing we haven't yet tried is midi . Probably isn't a bad idea to have those uploaded on non audio tracks. If I were making a serious mix I might go back and line things up a little better. Not bad though IMO so far. As you have suggested I'll open this up to everyone else and see what comes of it. Exactly. All of the noise seems to go away after the mix is saved.I haven't tried the stems download yet since I only needed one track I simply copy/pasted and then dragged the track back from Cakewalk to BL. Here is the link which is now public- https://www.bandlab.com/band/band6822440552126412/scarborough-fair-starise-2da66-2740a?revId=2eb7ee74-a722-e911-9f2a-00155d7803f0
  22. @Jesse Jost Thank you for this! @yapweiliang No worries, this is supposed to be fun. After the second listen I hear the cello which is pretty good for a phone recording. May I play with the flute part some? The first thing that comes to mind is that a mic or interface for the phone would be monumental for a portable situation. IK makes a lot of that kind of thing. The latency is a concern and it seems tracks will need to be moved to line up unless the phone has a faster interface, like maybe iPhone using core audio/midi drivers. I use an android phone. Not sure what's out there that could reduce latency. I think we should try something with just the cello and violin sometime since I play violin probably good enough for a decent try at it. In this track the cello is fighting the other tracks and should be brought up. Thank you for giving that a go. Difficult for a cello to do in this context. Since I don't rely on a smart phone entirely I haven't had the need to investigate this.
  23. I'm glad you found something that is working well for you.You have given me a bunch I ideas I can use. Thanks!
