  1. I'm thinking of buying the currently $600/pair iLoud MTM's. This idea was triggered by the release of the ARC Studio. I use ARC 3 when mixing, it would be nice to run everything through ARC all the time which isn't really feasible with the plugin.

Then I realized my current amp has unbalanced inputs and I would have to figure out the correct (if possible)  connection of the ARC Studio to it.

I looked into active near fields and the MTM's look to be a very good choice.  I'm wondering if the built in ARC would be enough room correction? I've done about half the recommended acoustic treatment in the room (remaining recommendations by acoustic pro friend would involve radically changing room layout) so I have a bass bump at 100hz that ARC does a good job flattening.

Interested in any feedback on the standard MTM's (not Precision).

    Thanks

I don't believe that's so. I bought one of these a while back and recently transferred the license to a new computer build with no problems. And I had another that I have upgraded the computer with a new motherboard and transferred Windows to a new drive and again had no problems.

Good to hear, maybe Microsoft is being more generous with Win11 licensing.

  3. I've used Reaper for years but decided Cakewalk was better for a band/studio I'm working with. We've been very happy with the results. Reaper is good for accomplishing certain recording/mixing/editing maneuvers quickly though it's scripting ability. I'm hopeful Bandlab rolls out an  inexpensive perpetual license that you can elect to upgrade annually for an also reasonable price. I'm allergic to monthly subscriptions.

  4. These licenses work only for the hardware first activated on. If your motherboard dies you would need to purchase again (or any change to hardware significant enough to confuse the licensing server).  I've used these types of licenses before, you're activating against a volume license key.

  5. I'm working with a studio that moved from analog to digital this past year. I've been collecting freebies as we go along and we bought a few IK products on deep discount.

I've found some of the older Waves products are useful (like Renaissance plugins). It's annoying that the 2 additional free plugins are from a list that omits plugins we would like to get such as Vocal Rider or the live autotune.

I think in our position of not having bought many plugins that this bundle is well worth it. Interested in any comments on this decision.

    Thanks

  6. I went for Masala 1 this year. Last year Angelic. I'm a long time Lounge Lizard user - I think their instruments are innovative and they have some good sound designers. The Swatches collection is generous as are the yearly gifts.

  7. Since my music day job (not my actual day job ?) is playing bass I limit what I will spend on tools for music creation and recording. This forum has helped me build up a pro quality set of tools on a shoestring budget. It also helps in avoiding shiny objects that aren't all that useful. Finally, I use many of the freebies discovered here on a regular basis. I get the collector mentality, years ago when I had my Roland D10 and later Korg M1 I was always desperately looking for useful patches which were few and far between but very rewarding when found.

Just a nudge to check out the Audio Assault Air Rack  that I mentioned earlier in the thread?
Even though its now $9.99 (still on sale, but not the BF** $5 price I mentioned at the time) it looks like it ticks off all the boxes people have mentioned as desirable in an IR handler except for tone matching:

    • IR Mixer with Tweakable Mic Position
    • Serial/Parallel IR Processing
    • IR Export Function
    • Deconvolver
    • Unlimited Slots
    • FREE IR Library Included (can use your own as well)
    • Resizable GUI
    • EQ
    • phase delay
    • normalizer
    • panning
    • etc.

**web site says BF sale is still on but when I tried code just a couple of minutes ago it wasn't working for me.

I was able to buy aIR Rack for $5 - thanks for the tip. I think it's the right one for my usage.

Better buy >> aIR Impulse Rack on sale for $5 with code AA-BF-23
    https://audioassault.mx/collections/plugins/products/air-impulse-rack

    Features

    • IR Mixer with Tweakable Mic Position
    • Serial/Parallel IR Processing
    • IR Export Function
    • Deconvolver
    • Unlimited Slots
    • FREE IR Library Included
    • Resizable GUI

This one probably aligns better with what I'm hoping to accomplish. The Amp and EQ sections of the Nembrini product are probably very good but I would probably use an amp sim instead. The Nembrini IR Loader looks more like a tool to create a very custom unique amp replacement more than just an IR tool
