  1. I read a review of this some time ago - it said that it's a good library, but it would be more like a layering/strings special FX library, to complement other string libraries.
  2. Hmm... in a few years, deathbed may mean the pinnacle of something
  3. Water Polo - the water with the hole
  4. I've lost track of PA's voucher terms and conditions - are you allowed to use more than one monthly voucher (i.e. if someone lets you use theirs in addition to your own)? I thought it didn't use to be the case, but then they introduced a minimum spend.
  5. Are there any uses that SPL Iron and the Alpha are particularly well suited for? e.g. is one better on the master bus, and one better on channel buses? Or any genre that one is better suited for? I hear that both are really good compressors - I'm just trying to figure out when it's better to use one over the other.
  6. From their website: Expect to find 85 meticulously designed presets for Serum including clear synth sounds to complete filth basses, crushing impacts and drums, massive bursting risers, atmosheric pads, deep ethereal drones, hybrid organic textures, groundbreaking FXs and Braams, complex rythmic sequences and more… All inspired by numerous soundtracks from well-known composers and sound designers like Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Howard Shore, Ramin Djawadi… Each preset comes with macros assigned, and combines cutting edge sound design techniques, custom wavetables and noises, rich and detailed modulations and ultra high-quality sound. They’re also great for educational purposes if you want to learn advanced synthesis and sound design techniques to create your very own sounds while getting the most out of Serum. Check out the demo and judge for yourself: It’s straight out of Serum with only very few processing. And best part is, for a limited time only, this soundset is completely free to download and available only on www.tunecraft-sounds.com so don’t miss out ! https://www.tunecraft-sounds.com/product/cinematic-synths-for-serum/
  7. This looks interesting so I watched some videos on it. From what I saw, it looks like a library with ambience pads and a selection of phrases in Am and Em. Does anyone know if this means that any project I use it on needs to be in one of those keys, with the usual caveats of using phrase based libraries?

    Front DAW 60% off

Are these console emulator plugins supposed to go as the first or last in the chain? I know this one's called Front DAW (and maybe that's a hint), but I've seen arguments for this type of plugin to go at either end of the chain.
  9. Got to love highlighters - they have a way of just brightening stuff up
  10. Anyone having trouble getting this? I know it says S3 can take a while to get warmed up, and to give a few goes; I tried about 10 times spread over a few minutes now Edit: tried again and it works now

    PA AMEK 200

I wondered out loud on the other thread whether this would be more expensive than their most expensive plugin at the time ($349, Brainworx bx_console Focusrite SC). Ding, ding, ding!!! We have a winner!!!
  12. Thing is, I've heard they have a penchant for hitting people... ouch...
  13. Still, far better than what Gwyneth Paltrow called her candle (the one with the name that starts This Smells Like My...)
  14. That's (most probably) right - unless you want to do something wacky with it. I've got this library and full Kontakt, but (for my use of Riff Generation) it wouldn't make a difference if I just had the player. (Full Kontakt does open a whole new world of sounds and freebies though - but then that just leads to needing higher capacity disks 😜)
  15. Reminds me of a video I was watching about orchestral instruments a while ago - this particular one was about the celeste; the guy just kept calling it a 'chelest'.
  16. I bought the Samplitude Suite a few years ago as I wanted Sound Forge (v11 at the time) and the cost of the bundle was less than that of Sound Forge. I've seen the deal pop up a few times since then - do the newer versions of Sound Forge have any compelling features/reasons to upgrade?
  17. Question is: will the full price exceed their currently most expensive plugin (bx_console Focusrite SC, $349)? Makes no difference to me: I have enough EQs, and I don't think I can hear a clear difference between them; but then that's just me.
  18. Completely agree - especially as they let you deactivate the pre-Windows-update activations.
  19. Also, how big is the factory library? I can only find RAM requirements on their website.
  20. Is the licencing as flakey as AD2? It's not really a biggy - just mildly annoying.
  21. I really do admire how there can be a company that breaks software compatibility with every new release, break hardware compatibility with every few releases, and yet still manages to get so many people to buy new $1000+ phones.
  22. Flip between them repeatedly and you get Everyday I Love You Less and Less by Kaiser Chiefs
  23. Make that Amin to Emin, and you've got Losing my Religion by REM
