Yeah I'm feeling that actually. I almost feel like I have to buy it at that price. Would you ever use any of the sounds in the final production?

I only just picked it up today so haven't really had time to go through it. My initial impressions are that they sound nice, but if the instruments are going to be upfront in the mix, I'll probably swap them out for other libraries; if they're more background 'padding', I might leave them in. My opinion might change once I play with the library a bit more though.

I just don't like the idea of buying a library that's only good enough for sketching purposes but idk, I'll check it out on YouTube but the consensus last year on VI control et al was that it's only good enough for writing with and not for using in the final product, though not everyone felt that way.

If you have many orchestral section libraries that each take minute/s to load, it's very useful to have and use a 'simple', quick-loading, and all-encompassing library when initially putting down ideas.

    Is that bundle actually useful?

It really depends on whether or not the instruments in that bundle work with the type of music you write, e.g. someone writing mostly synth based EDM probably wouldn't find it as useful as someone who includes more orchestral (though not necessarily 'classical') elements in their music.

Personally I didn't go for the bundle, but I already have Mars from the VSTBuzz deal

Now that the subject of having one's email pwned has come up, I'll repeat my public service announcement:

If you haven't already done so, create a separate email address for registering plug-ins, getting free offers, etc. Separate from the one you use for banking and personal communication and so forth.

The reason for this is not that plug-in companies are likely to abuse your address, it's that they are more likely to have "softer" security than financial institutions, etc. This is just because the stakes are lower and the banks have staffs of thousands of people working on it that your 2-person plug-in house doesn't.

Having said this, I have never had a plug-in (or any other) company get compromised and release my email address and password (of which I make a different one for every site I use), But it makes for greater peace of mind. Especially if one is a freeware 'ho like me. It's "best practice," if you will.

It goes the other way, too, if you're using your personal address to register plug-ins, and it gets compromised by Uncle Ferd's AOL address book being hacked, you'd have to go around and change your address with 2 dozen plug-in manufacturers and other stores.

    Good advice.

    Also: turn on 2FA

I'm debating on the Riffendium Bundle or the SoundIron Insane Bundle,
which is the better deal, but still costs more.

A wise man once told me

    Quote

Budget wisely!  Don't buy "just because it's cheap"!  Plan
on things that you really "need" and not "want" ( OK...a few wants maybe,
preferably AFTER the MAIN "needs" have been met)

so it probably should depend on whether you have a greater need for some guitar and bass loops; or a male choir, piano, tuned percussion, organ, metallic impact percussion & effects and beatbox samples. Also, once you have Mars, you can email Soundiron for an upgrade to Olympus Symphonic Choir (which effectively gets you Venus); if you do it within the sale period, you'll get a discounted upgrade price too.

  6. It's an online mastering service - you upload your mixes, and there's some AI wizardry (I think, unless I'm thinking of another service) that will 'master' it for you. A lifetime license will be for a lifetime - either that of the user, or of the company whichever comes first.

A lot of people seem to complain about lifetime licenses; I personally see them as a better deal than subscriptions (companies will find another way to survive, e.g. selling add-ons, new users, etc). Even if it lasts a year, think of it as a one year subscription; if it lasts longer, all the more value. Also don't forget that with Windows 10 being the 'final' version, your non-OEM license is effectively a lifetime license (you can link your license with your Microsoft Account, meaning that you'll be able to transfer a non-OEM Windows license to another computer).

No...the sale is over...they are back to regular prices...

Ah, I see... so it's a way of 'extending' the sale, but to also give it a sense of urgency. Their stuff sounds great, but their prices are just too high for me to justify.

I had a similar problem with Jrr and my old Hotmail account. I couldn't open an account with it, but when I switched to Outlook, no problems.

Anyhow, I got the email and downloaded the plugin without a hitch....using my Hotmail address...so there you go. 🤷‍♂️

Isn't Hotmail part of Outlook now? I've got a Hotmail email I opened ages ago and I've never had any problems using it with any account

You might be right here. I seem to recall that in past years they would do a half price upgrade sale sometime near years end. If they don’t, I’m not going to upgrade from 4-5. Ditto for Melodyne Studio 4-5. I’m increasingly tired of the business model that gives great deals to newbies, and just assumes that long time users will cough up big bucks every year or 2, for updates that often are incremental in nature.

When you don't think the upgrade feature-gap is worth the money, simply redirect the funds towards another deal 😁

looks great but each time i consider those , i buy something else lol

    I do too 😁

I've noticed that Time+Space also sell at a similar price, but have a scheme where existing Dronar users get 20% off - a strategy might be to buy one title first, and then get a bigger discount on subsequent titles in the series.

  11. I'm such a console noob - I'd seen and been using the S-Type/N-Type/A-Type Console Emulation buttons, and E-Type/G-Type EQ buttons for ages, but hadn't made the connection 🤣

Thanks for the advice - I'll still need to properly try out the PA modules (as suggested), but at least I have a better idea of what I'm looking at now.

  12. I picked this one up with one of their $29.99-for-any-plugin vouchers previously, and am thinking about maybe picking up some of the other consoles at some point in the future. Sorry for the naïve question, but is there a general rule of thumb for when it's best to use the Neve (bx_console N), SSL 4000 E, SSL 4000 G, or even the newer SSL 9000 J? Are any of them better suited to any particular genre?
