  1. I understand your point, but the "it's been done before" argument could also be applied to pianos, strings, guitars, drums, vibraphones, etc... I'm sure each library offers a slightly different tone, or articulation set, or something.
  2. For £419, I hope this is a really good reverb. I think for now, I'll stick with the reverbs I already have...
  3. I picked this up yesterday. I was initially going to go with a less pricey basket, but then realised that you can use a max of one coupon code per checkout, meaning I would have missed out on some other savings. As these bulk MIDI packs never go on sale (unlike the individual MIDI packs), I thought this would be a good use for the coupon.
  4. Go one further: tell her that if she has no use for it, she can always re-gift it back to you 😜
  5. I'm guessing cryptocurrency mining had a lot to do with that
  6. X-Boxes still need updates - every now and then when you turn it on you have the choice to either update, or stay offline. Never had a PlayStation, but I guess they're the same.
  7. I had a toss-up between Knifonium and Streamliner for my $75 voucher last month; I opted for Streamliner. This month, I get to choose between Knifonium and Big AL (both $99). Any advice?
  8. I think they're having a Sound Paint...
  9. Generally speaking, I would agree about video game subscription. However, $29.99 per year for a (standard) EA play subscription is actually really good value.
  10. I don't think so - it's one part of a trilogy of 2.5D games based in the AC universe.
  11. The filter graph is hurting my eyes... On a slightly more serious note (though the graph colour scheme does actually disturb me a little), do the different colours represent something? If it's a spectrum analyser, I think I might prefer an FFT graph.
  12. For that your best bet is probably to use an SSD (or M2 if you're rich enough) as your samples drive.
  13. The only problem with watching anything that @Simeon Amburgey reviews is that each product ends up looking like so much fun that it turns the GAS up to 11 By any chance Simeon, have you used any of United Plugins' FireSonic plugins?
  14. You won't load the samples any faster, but you'll be able to load more into memory at the same time: the performance gain will be that you can run projects with many/large instruments more smoothly. With less RAM, there would be constant swapping between the physical RAM and the virtual RAM on disk, probably leading to stuttering. Think of it like having three Buffet plates to yourself instead of just one at an all-you-can-eat. You can't get the food any faster and it won't help you eat more than your fill, but you'll be able to get three plates of food and bring it to your table in one go, rather than going back multiple times.
  15. Another possibility could be a language thing? or maybe even attempted humour.
  16. They probably want to indicate the hardware that they're modelling, but can't use the real names because of issues around licensing. As ugly as the names are, they probably offer more of a clue (to people more in the know about guitar equipment than me) as to what's being modelled, rather than something like 'Vintage Crunchy Amp'.
  17. Is it worth getting the Everything Bundle if I already have Arturia V Collection 7 (and also quite a few other synths)? Just wondering whether I should opt for this, or the slightly cheaper All The Drums bundle.
  18. Patch libraries? Maybe not - just a guess.
  19. As Ed mentioned, people should use whatever suits them best. Personally, only seeing the midi of the selected clip (instead of for the whole track) would really annoy me. Then again, that may be because Cakewalk was my first DAW.
  20. I've definitely seen the option to deactivate buried in each plugin's settings (or at least the ones I checked).

    PA Voucher Problem

Don't know if it was a one-off, or they changed their rules, but my $75 voucher was a min-$99 spend; I picked up Streamliner which was $99 (because I had Metric AB).
  22. From their FAQ: If you use the installer you get linked to when you purchase, you should find you don't need to paste any serials.
  23. I don't think it will die; it might go on life support. That said, I think it would still be the leading sampler for a while (in terms of features and content) as the competition isn't quite there yet (as far as I know). It's important to remember though that Kontakt isn't the only product that NI makes - there are synths like Battery, Massive, etc. as well as their hardware controllers. I have no idea what will happen to them; I'm just mentioning this because much of this thread seems to be related to Kontakt.
  24. Stripe is fine - they're a credit card processing company. I think what you're referring to is that some service that allows you to sell your music (possibly it was BandLab Tip Jar/Albums?) only supported Stripe (and not e.g. PayPal), and people were slightly unhappy that Stripe were slightly less generous regarding fees that they charge. Nothing wrong with buying things through Stripe.
