Well, since I lost that cruise I was just able to book another cruise on MSC out of New York in January...
which doesn't thrill me, but it's an 11 night instead of an 8 night, and it only cost me $589 TOTAL!!!

Sounds like a great deal - hope it works out this time 🤞

    Isn't that Dithering?

Yes, but this (apparently) does more. The following is quoted from the text on the website:

Think of a common, non–harmonic, sub–audible signal all good engineers use to linearize digital audio; dither. The FiDef system also generates an anharmonic, sub–audible broadband signal. The difference is that FiDef does not modify the music itself in any way but instead is added to the music. Also unlike dither, it is correlated to the source audio. This is not noise for noise’s sake. This is a dynamic, correlated and spectrally shaped signal. The signal, based on FideliQuest research into the human auditory system, is customized to directly stimulate the brain, bypassing cognitive processing. The manifold results include less brain activity required to process incoming stimuli, with a resulting increase in perceived nuance and tactility from music, speech and effects. FiDef informs your brain of the subtle potentials within a recording.

I asked chatgpt to summarize this one for me.. bc of the length of the description. Still not completely sure what it does to the audio signal? Interested if  any pros have verified this one as not snake oil.

As I understand it, it generates noise and quietly layers it with the input audio to make the overall sound 'better'. Looks like there's a demo for you to try it out yourself.

I've bought a number of plugins right before sales and some on sale right before they were a better sale.

If it makes you feel any better, I've got one of those stories too.

In all of Komplete's discount-sale history, I've only known for upgrades to ever be discounted during NI's Summer of Sound. One year, I received an NI voucher for a fairly small amount - something like $10, but it could have been a bit more generous (I can't remember). I thought "I've always wanted to get Komplete (mostly for Kontakt), and this is going to be the best discount I'll ever get; why not?", and went ahead with the purchase. Then on the next day, and for the first; last; and only time I can remember, NI included first-time purchases of Komplete in their sale alongside the upgrades.

I just accept it as you win some; you lose some...

  5. Hi @Eduard Telik

Thanks for sharing your hard work so openly. If this project was recorded using your university's equipment (and as such you're forbidden from profiting from it), does it also mean that this library cannot be used for commercial purposes by others?

In my case, this is a hypothetical question (as nobody would be wanting to buy my music), even if I got around to finishing my projects.

It was long enough ago that looking for receipts would take deep digging, and really, it's of zero consequence. Those licenses have been superseded by my MComplete license. I only posted about it because it was a curiosity.

If you're certain you didn't buy from them, you could always email them about it. On the off chance that it's a system glitch, I'm sure they'll be happy it's reported.

Mimi Page Light and Shadow in particular, but the entire Voices of Wind collection is pretty pretty good.

Completely agree with you. I like Strawberry from Voices Of Gaia too.

Then, the even more recent Hyperion orchestral series, on which I hope they will continue to build.

Are these worth it if you already have some big name libraries already? e.g. CSS, Musical Sampling, etc.

  8. I'm not sure I know what to make of that video. On one hand, it's good marketing material and it shows what the plugin can do. One the other, I find it eerily reminiscent of the Unison MIDI Chord Pack video.

Still prefer "Full Kontakt" version(s), 'cos they allow offline and manual installation (as far as you have already Kontakt installed)!

After you've registered your serial (a one-time operation), you can treat your Player libraries like your Full libraries. You can copy the folder to back them up, and you can go into Native Access to re-link a copy to re-install; no need to re-download if you've already got the files somewhere.
