  1. I've noticed a pattern in Modartt's previous sales. There are usually two per year: one with smaller discounts, where instrument packs/add-ons are also on sale; and one with a larger discount, but where the add-ons are not discounted. With the latter, I can't remember whether it's only upgrades that are on sale, or the full versions as well.

  2. Don't forget that the following are also on sale

    • Morphestra 2 for Kontakt Retail
    • Cinematic Guitars Infinity for Kontakt Retail
    • Modern Animated Percussion
    • CinemorphX for Kontakt Retail

If you want to buy all five (i.e. including Motion Keys) there's an additional discount for the bundle; no way to 'upgrade' to the bundle though.

Even the idea that gold itself has any value is nothing but a fiction.

Value is a measurement of something's importance, worth, or usefulness. In some contexts, what you say is true. However, people tend to frown if you give them a tin or plastic piece of jewellery. In a more practical context, gold is a very good conductor, which is why you'll find it on audio connectors and in electronic circuitry (even if only in small amounts).

If you have any gold plated audio connectors or electronic devices (including mobile/cell phones, studio equipment, medical equipment) that you find important or useful, then gold's value is at least a little more than just fiction.

Money itself is all fake if you really think about it.

True; especially when you consider that there isn't enough gold to actually back the total amount of USD out there.

That said, I prefer my currency to be stable enough such that if I decide to put off buying e.g. the FabFilter Total bundle for one month, I'll still be able to afford it with the same amount in the following month. Of course the flip side is that I might be able to buy the PA perpetual bundle instead.

I also like the fact that if I pay for something that doesn't get delivered, I can start a procedure with the third party that is my bank to get a refund.

  5. Just something to be aware of: as far as I understand, your plugins will continue to work after your one year of WUP ends, but you will not get any further plugin updates or any help from support. This is probably not much of an issue on Windows, but Macs seem to have a tendency to break all software on every OS update.

With all the mentions of GAS in this forum, I thought of this product.

Seriously though, if someone was unaware of how we use the term or if English is a second language, these GAS references could be quite strange.

  7. This looks nice. How are the notes split between the different parts? Would it be that e.g. if I play a note that violins, violas, and cellos can play, then all three of the string sections play that note? Or is there some kind of algorithm that says something like highest note goes to violins, second highest note goes to violas, etc.?

Before going ahead with the install I saw this in the agreement and wonder what it entails. Anyone knows?

Pretty much what it says - that when you use the product, it will transmit usage data for TECHIVATION to analyse how people use their products. Not sure about how it's used in apps, but people often use Google Analytics on web pages, etc. to see e.g. how often a button is clicked; it helps the developers  understand what people do/use, and help point out things that could potentially do with redesigning and improving. I've seen somewhere else that it's apparently not that rare for plugins to use GA though (i.e. it's fairly common).

Personally I don't think it's a problem but ultimately, it's for you to decide whether you're ok with letting TECHIVATION see how their products are used,  possibly what hardware (in general) it's being run on, and how they can improve.

1176-alikes have bit me on the booty in years bygone due to inducement of yucky distortion noise when using those very fast attack settings.

As far as I understand, 1176s are used when very fast attack times and the distortion they add are desirable, e.g. on rock drums where you might want an added edge/aggressive tone. For bass, you might want to try an LA/3A.

I use my T-Racks 670 for things other people would probably use an LA/2A for (glue and bus leveling)

Either will sound good. LA/2A can sound good on vocals too.
