Does anyone have any opinions on this one? Looks like a parallel compression effect, albeit with a friendly/simple-to-use UI.

You can still use PayPal to pay, but back it with your credit card and choose to pay in a foreign currency. That way, the seller only knows about your PayPal account, but your credit card company does the currency conversion (which for me is slightly cheaper than PayPal's).

I had 4 Shreddage V2 guitars, with 20$ upgrade coupons in my account for each one. When I put them in the cart, I had an extra discount for the number of items in my cart. Then I applied each upgrade coupons one after another, with a total of 60$ showing in cart. I bought an 50$ Impact Soundworks gift card for 30$ at APD and applied the code in cart. So 10$ remaining + 30$ for the gift card: 40$ for the 4 upgrades instead of 80$!
Thanks for letting us know that such an order is possible Bryan: the majority of sites only allow a maximum of one coupon code per order, which I find to be annoying. It's good to hear that ISW allows more than one; they had great customer support on the previous occasions where I've needed help as well.

I've always found the PayPal exchange rate to be more expensive than that for my credit card, and usually end up choosing to pay in a foreign currency.

I had to get rid of my Waves Plug-ins, I'm though with them, and used and bought some new plug-ins from elsewhere
I'm genuinely confused: I see some posts where people say they absolutely love Waves plugins and seem really excited when a sale comes round; and I also get the feeling that some people can't wait to abandon their Waves plugin collection. Could someone explain to me why if their plugins are as good as their reputation suggests, why do some people seem to want to get rid of them?

That would be quite contrary!

The only problem with that setup is... how do you get in/out?

Please don't tell me Wally/Waldo decided to change more than just his name...

Depends... You might get a frown if you try to buy a car using a pinch of salt; your meal might not taste better if you add a bucket of gold.

Could someone explain to me how WUP works? If I understand correctly, it's conceptually a 'subscription' allowing you to update every plugin you have to the latest version. Is this for minor releases (e.g. 9.0 to 9.1), or just for major releases (e.g. 9.0 to 10.0)? Does Waves release a new version of every plugin every year?

I've got this, and like it very much.
Also don't forget you can get an additional discount if you own any of the other GEM plugins.

Maybe they could try using imported instruments, instead of homemade ones?

Downloading a demo now... Just in case anyone's using Edge as their browser, I'm having trouble getting the content file to download; it's fine in Chrome though.

Anyone have any opinions about how this compares with other 'big' synths, e.g. Pigments/Massive X/Serum? It looks like it has more sound sources (oscillators/wavetables, etc) and chainable effects, but do these contribute towards making 'better' sounds?

Checked my account and it would be $199 to upgrade to FX2 Elite,
or $200 to get the Elite combo, but I already have Amp 2 Elite, so
I save a buck by just buying FX Elite 2, and still get the Metal pack...go
figure...not that I could do either...but kinda wonky!Same here for me to upgrade to FX2 Elite. However, make sure you check the price of BIAS Studio Platinum; that contains FX2 Elite.
Too bad I have nothing to spare for this month...

I have Shevannai and it's very, very, very good
I agree, but I do wonder what the lyrics of my songs end up meaning (it's in Elvish); probably no more gibberish than the modern pop song though ?
Cantus and Mystica are very good too.

Some of the plugins do look interesting, but I have so many already that sound great to my ears. I always end up feeling guilty when I buy new plugins as I end up thinking at the back of my mind that there's something I'm not using.

I stand corrected on the re-buy your licenses statement. Still seems slight off to me that you need to pay a ZDT 'insurance' for a potential hardware failure that could be beyond anyone's control (though I suppose it's the same with a e.g. fridge/car/washing machine).

I just don`t like subscriptions with computer software. I like to buy and know that I can keep using it forever! I don`t really like online activation either, but I do understand from the developers point of view with so much piracy going on.
I used to hate iLok at one point, but since having one for a few months now, its actually very good, it fits in the back of my PC not causing any issue and I know if my PC goes down I don`t have to worry about my licenses. I actually wish all software developers at least had the option of iLok licensing, would save a lot of hassle, for me anyway in case of a reinstall, sorry ranting now!
It's not really fair to compare iLok with a subscription scheme.
I personally hate both. It's true that if your PC goes down or you want to use another one, you can relocate the iLok; if your iLok goes down, that's when you have to buy all of your software/plugins again. Not only that, you end up installing a few background services to use an iLok: if you're lucky they play nicely, and they probably do play nicely in most cases. I myself am perfectly happy that not every developer uses iLok.

Soundiron are a great company with some really good libraries.
I remember a while back I bought a bundle consisting of loads of libraries for an almost unbelievably low price on a NI promotion. If I had any cash to spare, I'd give this current offer some serious thought.
