It doesn't sound as tight at this tempo!   It breathes like it's supposed to.  Nice job.  I   didn't get the timestamp, but towards the end you have some articulations that use the close mic and sound a little incongruous.  You might want to do a quick run through of mic use.  It's really noticeable in contrast with the the more resonant instruments.  The harpsichord sounds like you might want to add a little of the room mic as well.

Yes... I agree about the harpsichord...  I did add some room mic to it..
Also its seems a little bit buggy this patch for the harpsichord.
I wanted more of a warmer tone for it...  just cant get the midle into it... without effecting the other parts of the mix.
    Its very muddy.

Once again... thanks for the tips...  will take a look tomorrow as my ears are shot!!   🙂

This is beautifully done.  It's a little too perfect.  At least, I've never heard anyone this tight. :D  Harpsichord sounds a little fake at points which library did you get the harpsichord from?  Dynamics are gorgeous.

Thanks David...  its too fast... should be 107bpm.
    Gonna try again.
    I used Spitfire Harpsichord...

  3. Its been quite a bt of a nightmare getting my new computer up and running etc. etc.
Any way.. seems like I need a new power pack...

I have posted a version of this composition a while back...  but have now rebuilt it with new samples.

    New Version... little more live?

Thoughts and critical comments please.... thats how I learn.
Orchestra I find very hard to mix and eq as their are so many frequencies and you ears get tired really quick...   well mine do anyway.
Also I think I have over done the reverb...  but I cant judge it at the moment.

    Thanks in advance,

    Gary

P.s.   For those who have sent calibration projects..  I haven't forgotten..  I promised this file for someone so had to complete it.

Well that was interesting viewing with a suitable accompanying sound track having seen the inside of my arm, I mean that litterly, when the dressing was changed on my right fore paw, muscles, bones etc.

    Nice one .

Just hope you dont get any of that in it 🙂

This is an excerpt from the third movement of my "Trumpet Concerto Number One". The total length of the uncut movement is about eleven minutes. This excerpt is three minutes and forty-seven seconds.

It is a real workout for the trumpet soloist but it is certainly playable.

Im a trumpet player...   could never keep up with that  🙂

    Hello Anders.
What a beautiful voice you have.
If I had not seen the video I would have imagined you to be a younger man.
    Really cool dress style  🙂

Guitar and vocal are nicely recorded.
Dont be shy to bring your voice more forward in your mix.

    Well done.

I don't have internet in my studio , so I'm having to listen to these uploads from a laptop with cheap headphones. I think I'm going to start leaning on Izotope more for eq settings for anything I post.  I guess I need to export a copy at 128 mp3 and listen closer thru my monitors.  The suggestions are a Great help !  After listening to a song so many times , the bad mixing decisions start sounding normal ..         mark

Thats what I love about this forum is that you can post your songs up for other ears to listen.
We get so caught up in our own projects and listen to them and seem to get a little immune  🙂
I always like othesr to criticize and comment on my work..  I learn so much this way and can develop on my weaknesses.
Its also hard to get the balance right as you dont want to come across as a know-it-all and also hurt someones feelings who have put a lot and time and effort into their work.

Recently someone asked me for my opinion in private... which I gave...  but then wasn't happy with the reply.
It got to me really as I try to be constructive... so I must admit.. very cautious.
Its also very hard to put what you mean down in text as (Im not a good writer in English as I get it al mixed up with Norwegian sometimes.
Many times I have had to rewrite a sentence because I couldn't remember how to spell the English word  (I am English by the way)  🙂

Anyway Ill say it again ,  I really enjoyed this track and well done.

Gary , The bass guitar sounds good to me soloed , there is a good bit of sub coming thru on one of the busy drum clips . I'll take a closer look at it , it sounds a little boomy to me also after the file conversion.  Thanks ...   good call.       mark

    Hi Mark.
I didnt mean the bass guitar...  I was including bass overall... should have explained myself better.
    You nailed it now.
    Well done.

  8. I liked this a lot.
The simple arrangement works wonders and its so easy to go off on one and trying to be advanced etc.
    You  nailed this one.

When my wife heard me singing "Hold Me Down"  thought I was getting a little kinky for a few secs  🙂
Somehow it reminded me a bit of Springsteen
Did you sing the harmonies separate or use Melodyne?.

Anyway... well done on a heartfelt song.

  9. Very nice track and I liked the arrangement of the instruments.
Nice vocal along with the harmonies.
(this is my kind of music... loved it)

I always listen to the track first.. then watch the video.
Im glad I did... was surprised and I wasn't expecting that. 🙂
Great use of stop motion...  lot of work has gone into that..

  10. Nice song with a nice vocal.
    Catchy and good lyrics.

    Nice

The only comment I have is for the presenters.
I personally have been a DJ and presenter for many years on TV and radio.
The best advice I was ever given was to be yourself in your voice... not trying to put on a voice..  as you think DJs do etc.
Pick someone out of the audience (or imagine) and talk to them how you would have a normal conversation.
