  1. This comes from a thread on one of the CbB Facebook groups where a number of users were saying how much accidental scroll wheel interference when working in Cakewalk is driving them mad. It would be super useful to be able to disable mouse scroll wheel operation either DAW-wide or for specific views. My personal grind is with the console view, especially accidentally changing parameters either on the tracks (fader levels mostly) or in the Pro Channel.

Would be awesome to look at this for a future update. I'd also be keen to know if this is something other users have been similarly plagued by.

    Cheers 🙌🏼

My memory may be failing (no comment :-)) but doesn't some of that pull from the Info tab in the browser?

I filled in the notes pre-export and it didn't fill it in automatically BUT I failed to find the ID3 function at all (as per my initial question) so I'm not a reliable witness!

If you specify MP3 as an output format, the MP3 Export Options dialog will appear either when clicking Export or clicking the "Add Task" button.

When the MP3 Export Options dialog appears, make sure you check the "Encode ID3 info" checkbox:image.thumb.png.2d57aaeae6d20374bbccd272e8cc96e0.png

Thank you so much, that's awesome! My self-induced* headache might go away now!

Something about the new Export feature has me totally stumped....

It used to be the case that you could include in the file info not just the track name but also the artist and album name in such a way that it was digitally 'baked' in. I do understand that you can use tags to include those variables in the file name, but how do you lock that info into the actual file so artist and album name displays underneath the track name in either the wav or mp3 file when you stream it from (for example) Google Drive or Dropbox? I've tried filling the info into the Notes section within CbB before exporting, but it doesn't do this. It only feeds the file naming tags. I hope I've not made this clear as mud! Any help with this would be v much appreciated.

I didn't word this helpfully at all. I'm wondering how you embed metadata and ID3 into WAV or MP3 files via the new export function. Can you even do that now?!

Some plugins require an extra step to authorize them. I don't know about your specific instrument (I have a policy about never buying any product that uses the word "Beatz":) but instructions were either included with documentation you downloaded or perhaps in an email they sent to you after purchase.

😁 Yeah, I hear ya about the 'Beatz' thing. It was installed correctly according to the documentation...it's all a bit odd. All working fine now though. I'm generally of the opinion that life's too short to be figuring out why some plugins just don't interact well with the rest of your software unless a) they're crucial to your workflow and / or b) you paid for them. In this case, Beatskillz Beatfactory Drums is neither of those things!

That sounds like you may have a plugin running in demo mode. Try bypassing all effects (using the global bypass feature) and see if the volume drops cease.

Thanks man...I'll give that a go.

UPDATE: So, yeah it seems plugins are/may be responsible. Narrowed it down to two possible offenders...Beatskillz Beatfactory Drums and  Cymatics Diablo Lite. Further investigations afoot...

UPDATE 2: Beatskillz Beatfactory Drums is the offender for sure. Grrr 🤬 Thanks so much for replying to my post with your helpful advice @bitflipper

  8. Hi folks, apols in advance if this isn't the right place for this question. I'm having a few problems with tracks in my mixes occasionally and seemingly randomly dipping in volume on playback. It doesn't discriminate either - it can happen on midi or audio tracks, and it's happening so randomly I can't put my finger on what's causing it. I can play the same section 5 times and it'll happen in different places on each occasion. Also it doesn't happen to all tracks in the mix, only some of them. It seems to occur more with drum and bass tracks so i've wondered if it might be phase issues, but it's not happening in the same place each time so I'm thinking if it was that, then it would.

My PC is a high spec custom built audio workstation so there's plenty CPU and RAM to spare. Any help most gratefully received.

Very good. Couple of suggestions (just my 2 cents):

Need to change it up or maybe use less of that same refrain at the beginning and elsewhere.
Or make some cuts to bring out the quieter sections which have a very nice airy feel to them.
    Flute is a bit thin.
I thought I heard a human voice in there? I was expecting it to make another appearance but don't think it did.

Thank you for your time and your feedback Bjorn. I don't disagree with any of it. Someone else here made a similar point about the lack of variation in the main 'riff' and I totally agree. In retrospect I could have spent more time looking at ways to bring more interest to those sections. Thank you again 🙂

John , Nothing but a Giant Feel Good vibe coming from this. You set it up well with the long build up in the beginning , I wouldn't have had that much patience. That was a Beautiful immersive airy mix and I loved the way you build it up the broke it back down. Fantastic synth work.   10+      Thanks .. mark           - edit -

ps. I try not to read previous comments before posting mine , and didn't here. When the build up ended , I too thought it was worth the wait.   ms

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to listen and comment Mark 🙌 I've really been enjoying your material on here and am humbled you thought I did such a good job with this given your own considerable skills in this area. It's funny how the build in this track is taken so differently by folks, but of course that's the beauty of personal taste - it's so varied. Another fabulous facet of Mother Nature 🙂

I like this, love the emerging textures and sparkle in the broken down sections. Mix sounds good and rounded. Love the creamy synth lead that comes in at around 5.00.

Snare might use a tiny bit of brightness and the early flute part could do with some added flesh - even a big reverb/delay around it. But I'm nitpicking.

Thanks so much Dave. I certainly don't see what you're saying as nitpicking - I'm fully aware the best producers do exactly that, and they quite rightly call it 'attention to detail'. That's what this is all about isn't it - learning to be as good as you can be at it 🙂

Electronica is not my genre, and I was quite hesitant about commenting.
    Honesty first, I bailed early.
    Why?
I was looking for a bit more "impact". Read that as wanting it to "build" more quickly.
If this is a "chill" track (is that the right word?) then probably you've nailed it!
I must admit I'm a 3 minute single old "rocker" so take it all with a grain of salt.
Production wise, no faults I can detect, and I guess that's why I chimed in.
The track is good, but it just didn't "grab" me.

    t

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment Tom. You might find this hard to believe but as well as doing this studio project I play in an AC/DC tribute band so I definitely appreciate the place 3 minute rock songs have in this world 😄 Just so happens I'm really into electronica as well, plus a couple of other genres that I'd like to explore in future projects. I totally appreciate that the time it takes to build this track is not for everyone, but if you're setting out to make music for 'everyone' then hell mend you 😄

I like the synths you used. It built nicely . Its an optimistic sounding song. Nice one!

Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment David 🙌🏼 v much appreciated. I'm stoked you liked it!

I think the wait is worth it, I kept expecting a lead to come in and kick improv ***** but the flute thing was a bit of a letdown in that department to be honest. Other than that, the mix is very clean, I like the panning, and once the groove gets going it sticks with you. I love the dreamy blissed out quality this song has.

    cheers,

    -Tom

Thanks for your thoughts on the track Tom, it's v much appreciated. I really debated hard with myself about the flutey sound because I'm not a huge fan of new age style world music and it kinda smells a bit too much like that for my liking 😂 but you know how it goes, you make these decisions and you either regret them or you don't. Thank you for taking the time to listen 🙌🏼

  15. This problem with LABS appeared just yesterday in CbB for me too. Cakewalk crashes whenever I try to delete an instrument track that has LABS loaded into it. I even tried it in a blank Cakewalk file with nothing else but a LABS track loaded up and it did the same thing when I tried to delete the track. The instruments are playing, but there also seems to be some electrical interference-style glitching on some LABS presets. Also strange is that the Spitfire audio app that you use to allocate folder locations and everything else, says I don't have LABS installed. All the file paths are correct. Very strange. I'd update it if I could, but the Spitfire software tells me I don't have any products so... 😕

Good track although i found the intro way to long ,the suspense was killing me,  all in all I´d condense the whole song down a  tick  some really great sounds in there cheers

Thanks for your comments Paul 🙂 Opinion on the intro seems to be firmly split between thinking it builds really well and it takes too long! Perhaps oddly, I agree with you 😄  i think it's too long myself!

This mix sounds OK here though there are some parts which seem to be just a little to long dwelling on the same pattern of sound.

Thanks for the feedback dude. Very fair comment and something I definitely need to work on for future recordings.

I like the synths you have used - they sound good - mix sounds pretty good as well

    Cool

Awesome, thanks Nigel. If I could get my recordings sounding anywhere near as alive and open as yours do, I'd be a very happy man!

  19. I've had this exact problem as well with Analog Lab V but not with IV. I've not only reinstalled it, but it's on a brand new PC. It was doing the same on the old one too. The only thing that seems to temporarily fix it is actually restarting the PC. It'll be fine for a bit then *something* (no idea) will cause the UI to go blank again. No special graphics card here - just Intel i7 onboard.
