  1. Hi folks, i allways was recording my stuff at 44.1k. After watching some videos about audio aliasing and folding back of overtones into the audible range, i've tried to set my samplerate to 96k. Now when i compare Kontakt 6 Hybrid Keys sound quality i can hear a big difference.

Problem is that it shouldn't be that much of a difference, or am i wrong? Its extreme, so that you can see it on your spectrum analyzer. The bass sounds much louder and the frequency curves are much thicker, than on 44.1! Something seems to be wrong here. Whats the cause for this? Did someone have similar results?

I'm working on a ESI Juli@ PCI interface btw. Maybe its converters cannot reproduce  higher samplerates right?

  2. Whats going on with these Analog Obsession plugins? I've heard something about them, that they are containing malware in the installer. Is that true? On the other side the snake oil guy on youtube reviewed some plugins from AO and was amazed about them. Are these things trustworthy?

  3. I've got some issues to with SampleTank 4 CS. This month i bought some ST soundpacks due to the 25th anniversary buy and when im closing my ST4 window CnB just shouts down. I tried some settings, till i found that it saved my root folder 2 times. After i deleted the second folder it was working again... But sometimes it happens again, regardless. I dont know why this happens, but at least its not everytime im closing the ST4 plugin window now. IK Instruments are really buggy, i also had some issues with Miroslav 2.

  4. I dont have other DAW's for a comparison, but my i5 750 (first gen iCore) is overclocked to 4 GHz and runs beautifully with Cakewalk on Win10. So CnB seems to be not so heavy on CPU. With 16 Gigs of Ram i can use plenty VSTi's and FX, without having issues. My only bottleneck i ever had, was when some plugins needed GPU reccources. I bought an used GT1030 and everything runs fine again.^^

Yes. That makes sense now though I believe it could/should be fixed.

Isn't 3db the popular panning change? Gain reduces 3db moving from center to edge (i may have it backwards.).

So that now explains a lot for me. I continually adjust my mono drum tracks (kick snare hat) by 3db after freezing. I’m using stereo outputs from the drum synth but processing them as mono, hence the 3db change. My other three drum outputs are stereo (toms ride crash) and after adjusting them along with the kit (after freezing), I progressively raise their volume the more I listen.

I'm now guessing if I process them as stereo (interleave) they may not change volume. Creates a bit of a pickle for me . I prefer my kick/snare/hat as point sources instead of stereo as I find they cut through a mix better. Toms are usually easy to handle in a stereo mixed output unless I want to use DAW processing instead of vst's internal stuff. Then I break each out individually but with 5 toms, thats a lot of faders on screen. It’s a tradeoff.. The ride is being supplied only as a stereo source so it has it's own stereo out and finally, all the crash cymbals spread in stereo as were the toms.

So to solve this I really need a way of creating a combination of mono stereo outputs from the drums or for the present of course I could use all mono (dual mono to handle the stereo tracks but it's so......analog! 🎶

That would  explain a lot. I'm not home, but i wanna do some testing, when i'm back.

  6. Some years ago, i discovered a issue in combination with UAD Plugins, where my rendered tracks had crackles too. I used to render in fast mode. When i switched to realtime rendering, my issues where gone.  Later i found out, that it has to do with the checkmark "Sonar compatibility mode" wich i had enabled. Now everything is fine.  Maybe your problem is related to this?

  7. I agree with abacab, besides Dimension Pro 1.5 (still working without issues on my system) wich has even now really good sounds available. Same for Pentagon, Zeta 2 and Rapture Pro. I am using them on almost every project.

But you are right, if you cant use them, you have many options, even if you are looking for feebies only. 👌

  8. Generaly speaking is the Sonitus suite my go-to-tool in many cases. I think it has an neutral sound, an while the UI is old, it's self explanatory and user friendly.  They are also light on the CPU site. I like them and hope they are here to stay forever with CnB 😉

  9. I can't see an issue with older Sonar Plugins, like someone said here. I can run even some of the old 32-Bit Plugins like Beatscape and Dropzone with the internal Bitbridge. No issues here. Just start install everything you need with the older Versions and the go on to CnB.

And to your question about system requirements, dang you got a monster of PC! :D

I can still use my OC'd i5 750 (4,0 GHz) with 16 GB Ram, 1 TB SSD for System, 750 GB SSD for my Libraries and an oldscool HDD for my projects. No issues, or bottlenecks.

  10. Hey guys, i'm new here, but a longtime Sonar/Cakewalk user (since 2008). I hope i use the right category for my question:

I've installed Windows 10 on my PC and while doing it, updated some of my older plugins, like Kontakt, Reaktor and more. Now when i try to load my older unfinished projects, i need to reassign some files and instruments, wich is working so far... But when i used for example Reaktor 5 with "NI The Mouth FX" i cannot reassign anything, because Reaktor 6 gets recognized as a new Plugin. So my old project loads everything besides my Reaktor FX. Same goes for some updated synthesizers like Circle.. My old presets are gone, and now i can guess, what i was exactly using.

Is there a better way of preserving my old projects, or do i really need to search and guess, what sounds/fx i had saved before the updates? Thankfully i've got still my old Win7 HDD hooked up, but its a p.i.t.a. to jump back and forth for comparisons 😆
