  1. This is very nice. My only real critique is that you could add a short pause at the end of that pitchbent saw climax before the rest of the song begins, so as to give it a bit of a dramatic flair.

  2. Started from a piano track on Musescore that was meant to be a re-composed intro of one of my first songs, a small idea to add orchestral texture evolved this piece into something fully-realized. I leaned heavily on Spitfire Labs' free instruments, while using Kontakt's Factory Selection for the acoustic Upright Bass and Cakewalk's Studio Instruments Strings for the top layer of Violins.

  3. I think there are spots where you're resting on the tonic for too long. I counted 14 bars of straight up I chords at the beginning, which can feel a bit redundant after a while. If you can do something to jazz up the progression like the I-Ima7-I7-IV line cliche, it would keep the listener a bit more engaged.

The mix itself is pretty nice though.

  4. There are other options available if you don't have a Hardware MIDI module. You can always use Plogue's sforzando to load soundfonts and SFZ libraries, and use those to route MIDI channels through individually.

  5. Maybe I am missing something, but I have been missing the option to manually add ProChannel modules to the Pro-Channel lanes for a while and I am assuming that it's a config issue. I had been trying to fix this for a while but with no luck, the only way I could load stuff outside of the default is load a preset that has the module I need and then just live with what else is missing. Anyone else having this issue?

It fixed itself. Worked all night.

I have a notion the maybe my ada8000s didn't init right as I never cycled power on that rack last night during my troubles. If I recall that was what fixed it before. I do have dumps. Want em anyway? I came here to delete the thread if possible.

A dump file would be a good idea anyways, it could be a symptom of another issue.

  7. I think I may have fixed this issue. I looked deeper into event viewer and noticed that my Bluetooth driver had also malfunctioned at around the same time, with the same error opcode. Since I don't use Bluetooth on this PC anymore I uninstalled it, along with a bunch of other software I no longer need, and that seemed to make the crash go away.

I also realized that I forgot to launch Bandlab Assistant before launching Cakewalk, maybe that might be causing some of the crashes?

    Hi,

I just downloaded and installed Sound Canvas VA and I'm trying to get it to work and play some of my GS MIDI files.

I was able to play MIDI files throught the Sound Canvas VA in Reaper (https://www.reaper.fm/), but I'm unable to do so in Cakewalk by BandLab version 2019.03 (build 20l, 64 bit). I can't find a way to direct the output of the (MIDI) tracks to the Sound Canvas VA VST plugin. I've had a hardware Sound Canvas (SC-8850) in the past and was able to play the MIDI files through that unit, but it seams that Cakewalk doesn't recognize the Sound Canvas VA as a VST-instrument that can handle MIDI data.

Any help to get this working before the trail expires would be very appreciated.

Use LoopMIDI to create a custom MIDI port and SAVI Host to load SCVA. Then on Cakewalk, add the MIDI port that you created as a MIDI device.

    Good work on your song!
I tried your project file and it does not crash on my system,

Did you try starting from a later part of the song? I believe I mentioned that the project plays fine if I start from the beginning. Thanks though!

I may have found a clue in Windows Event Viewer which ended up logging the crashes.

  10. So I have been having issues with Cakewalk, in fact it's kind of a brick wall that I'd consider a huge liability.

I have this project that basically sending MIDI data to my SD-50 with the objective of creating a MIDI file that is specific to the SD-50. However, I ran into an issue where if I move the transport past a certain point in the song, it would crash as soon as I hit play, causing the MIDI module and the ASIO driver to hang, forcing a system restart each time. I don't have the time or resources to diagnose this further, and it doesn't help that only an empty dump file was created. I am going to just include the project file itself so you can take a look at it yourselves. I am running Windows 7 x64 with 8 GB of RAM, my SD-50 is being used here as my ASIO interface and MIDI module. Keep in mind, the song plays fine if run from the start, and only crashes if the transport is past a certain point.
