I think you'll need to fix your recording equipment. Do you get the same results in other DAWs?

This will be great for scoring tracks for horror/sci-fi games. I wonder if I should pick up Cinematrix for $6 too.

I just wanted to ask, since this is a thing that has been bugging me for a while, but sometimes, I would drag in an RX2 clip that has a length of something like 7 beats, or 15 beats, and Cakewalk would always stretch it in the timeline to fit into the length of the nearest bar length in 4/4 no matter what. I also couldn't figure out how to force the RX2 slices to play at half or double tempo. How would one address these problems without having to print the clips?

I still use CbB exclusively, I really don't see myself using any other DAW. Almost pulled the trigger on Mixbus 32c, but the lack of good MIDI editing workflow killed it for me. I might try Studio One, Reaper or Reason in the future if my financial situation ever improves.
Before then, I had been using Sonar X1 Producer.- 1

Limiter Nº6 Is a pretty good Compressor/Limiter plugin : https://vladgsound.wordpress.com/plugins/limiter6/

1) Set up a send to an aux track
2) On the aux track, set up the delay so that none of the dry signal is output
3) Then set up a reverb on both tracks. Light on the main track but heavier on the ER, a bit wetter on the delay track, but less ER.
4) Set up a patch point/bus, route both tracks to it, then add a different reverb effect, this time with some HP/LP rolloff.
5) Set up one final subtle delay, but with a different timing and more HP/LP rolloff.
For reverb effects I tend to use Breverb 2 Cakewalk, and for Delay, I lean on iZotope DDLY a lot. -
It might be better to set it up so that every clip is a groove clip, that way, when you change the tempo, things stretch automatically.

Is it me or does the website just doesn't work? All I got is a pulsing dot.
EDIT : Oh nevermind, the site script got blocked by my adblock, derp.

Always do a sound test and make sure that your noise floor is as low as possible. If that isn't possible, you will need an expander, and a noise reduction plugin. Whatever you do, DO NOT GO BEYOND 0dBFS. However, if you need a more consistent recording level, the PRO VLA II can be what you're looking for. it will set you back $299 tho.

You may need to completely wipe the options and settings that persists after an uninstallation. I had to do something like this a while back for an unrelated reason, these are the instructions I was given back then, it may be relevant here :
QuoteTo completely remove Cakewalk by BandLab from your computer and reinstall it, follow the steps below.
Please note that this will remove any effects presets and key bindings you may have made in Cakewalk by BandLab. You can back these up separately if you like, using Utilities menu > Cakewalk Plug-in Manager, Edit > Preferences > Customization – Keyboard Shortcuts and Edit > Preferences > Customization – Colors.
1) Uninstall Cakewalk by BandLab. This is normally done within the BandLab Assistant app. Go to BandLab Assistant > Apps > Cakewalk by BandLab, click on the arrow on the right side of the tab and select Uninstall. This will not remove any of your plug-ins, project files or audio data.
2) After the uninstallation completes, open the Run Prompt. In Windows 7, 8, and 10, open the Run Prompt by holding down the “Windows” key and pressing “R” on the keyboard.
3) At the Prompt, type regedit and click [OK].
4) Click [Yes] if asked to allow the program to make changes to your computer.
Important: When you access the Registry Editor, create a backup by going to File > Export. In the Export Registry File window that comes up, make sure “Export range” is set to “All” and that “Save as type” is set to “Registration Files (*.reg)”. It is very important to create a backup of your registry because if you accidentally delete a registry key there is no undo function. You can, however, double-click on the Registry backup you made above to re-import your registry keys if you make any mistakes. You must re-import your backup (if needed) before restarting your computer.
5) Delete the following Registry keys: If you do not have one of the Registry keys below, simply proceed to the next one on the list.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\ Core
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\ Core HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\ Core
6) Open the Run Prompt again.
7) Copy and paste %appdata%\Cakewalk into the prompt and click [OK]. On Windows 7, 8, and 10, the “AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk” folder will open.
😎 Right-click on the Cakewalk Core folder and choose “Delete.”
9) Delete the contents of the following directory: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core
10) At this point, you can reinstall Cakewalk by BandLab from BandLab Assistant. Be sure to use the latest version of BandLab Assistant by clicking the gear at the top left and choose Check for Updates, then go to Apps > Cakewalk by BandLab, and click [Install]. -
As a thank you gift for the success of the launch of Vaporwaves SampleScience is offering SQ8ROM, a ROMpler plugin based on the Ensoniq SQ80 for free forever. It comes with 50 sounds, but 2 expansion packs are included that will add 118 additional sounds, for a total of 168 sounds.

Oh yeah, Tunefish v3 and v4 are also pretty good. There is also TAL-U-NO 62 and TAL Noisemaker and because it hasn't been mentioned before Full Bucket Software is full of free synth VSTis.
-
I wonder if Bandlab will ever partner with Roland and revive some the old plugins that were part of the DAW. Roland GrooveSynth and DreamStation DXi were pretty good for its time.

RM-2 and Head Crusher by Audio Assault are also pretty good saturator plugins.
-
The problem I have with the Gate module is that there is no control over the ratio, attack or release time. I'd like to have an Expander/Gate that has a decoupled open/close threshold, or better yet, one that is based on RMS values rather than peak values..

It all depends on what synth you are using. Cakewalk has no native MIDI players. I can't remember very well but I think Sonar 3 may have come with Roland's Sound Canvas for general MIDI files. But that version was a 32-bit DX only plugin that won't work in 64-bit Cakewalk. With CbB I think you get TTS-1 as the default GM synth. In theory if you load the same exact synth you were using in Sonar 3 into CbB you'll get the same sound. But only you can tell us what synth you were using and what you are using now. There aren't a lot of great General MIDI synths anymore but there are some choices much better than TTS-1. Sadly Sound Canvas is a subscription only product now I think (or is crazy expensive).
Roland SCVA works well enough as a drop-in replacement, but it does cost $125. Here is a song that I composed using SCVA exclusively for tone generation.

Did you forget to move the root key for those groups up an octave with the mappings?

Use TX16wx or manually transpose slices, Elastique Pro for percussion, Radius Solo/Mix for melodic samples.

Funny you mentioned that, because I just purchased it myself.
