  1. Hi Guy’s Thanks again for all the advice – current status Followed up on all advice and notice the following with regard to the method/advice from Blogospherianman So far I have the following Positive results in eliminating the “Slapback” 2i2 - Direct Monitor On CBB Vox Track - Input Echo – Off – but need to arm track to hear input On CBB Vox Track - Recording level approx -12db – but headphone vol feels a little low – therefore how do I boost level for singer? Re: FX – E.g Also to give a singer some FX e.g. Reverb/Delay Current situation – I’m using a send to Buses e.g. Reverb/Delay and then send to an Aux Track for each – does that routing sound the best method of FX separation/control to you? So – so far so good but just have the above additions Q’s Any suggestions re the Bus/Aux send process most welcome But mainly – I really appreciate the help from you all – It’s really great just to have a clean Vox in the headphones without the slapback – thanks again Blogospherianman Thanks again Very best Ed
  2. Hi Guy's - Tried the suggestions but still this odd slapback headphone mix is there - can you think of any other possibilities? Thanks again Best Ed
  3. Hi Chuck E Baby & C-Factor - Good Tips - Re: Chuck E Baby - I've got my 2i2 on "Line" - or should it be "Instrument" - Could that be where the problem is? - Obviously I'll check the options and report back - but thanks guys - very much appreciated - Also C-Factor from what you've said I can raise the Buffer size - In fact I only reduced it from a higher rate trying to figure out this annoying echo. Thanks again - will probably be back shortly Very best Ed
  4. Hi All - Quick Q Re: Recording Vocals Problem: When recording the vocals I can hear a slapback echo - fortunately the actual recording is FX free i.e. no slapback - (I'm trying totally dry vox recordings with no FX to test the mic and room - Shure SM58 and Bedroom) So really the Q is - while using no effects i.e. just the mic in a room/ with Pop filter etc - as I'm singing I can hear a vocal slapback which does not appear on the recording - so it's more of a distraction than anything else - so I suspect my Driver/Asio settings are ok - so where on earth is the slapback coming from I've put a screen shot of my settings below but just wondered if anyone has any advice/suggestions - again the recordings in themselves are clean - it's just the headphone distraction Thanks all Best Ed
  5. Hi mettalus & Dr Steve - thanks so much for the great advice - will work through slowly - and update - can't thank you guy's enough - but generally because of my naivete re downloading I've caused a lot of duplications that you have clarified - and you have given great advice - so thanks so much again Very best Ed
  6. Hi mettelus - I'm still working through all the great advice from You, Mark, Scook and Dr Steve - referring to you comment below about repetition of "patch files" - Am I safe to delete the X3e patch 1 & 2 exe i.e. copies - without compromising X3 - Also - I don't use Beatscape - i.e. as scook said they were rebranded as "One Shots" - should I delete the Beatscape rar files in my downloads? Thanks again for the help to all you guys - very best - Ed
  7. Hi mettelus - Can't thank you enough for the observations and direction - I'll follow up - Thanks for taking the time to give such great advice Will update Very best Ed
  8. Hi Dr. Steve - sorry for the delay in replying - Does the Screenshot from my download files showing the update patches that are approx. 450 to 650mb's each Are they all necessary? Thanks again - I'm still working through all the advice you, Mark and Scook have provided Very best Ed
  9. Hi scook - thanks again - really appreciate the insights - I don't know about you but I'm pretty tired - even the "counted twice" is confusing me - but as I said above I'm not rushing this problem - so have a very good evening and thanks again Very best Ed
  10. Hi All, esp Mark & Scook - Sorry about the quality of the ScreenShot - but thought I'd try to let you see the file size of Sonar X1 - the screenshot does not show the size of the files I've listed below but hopefully gives you useful info - I know I've probably made all the mistakes that can be made re installing Sonar over the years so again any thoughts most welcome Re: Sonar X1 Beatscape Setup Files – 4.20 Gb Dimension Pro Setup Files – 2.92 Gb SONAR X1 Content Setup Files – 3.43 Gb SONAR X1 Setup Files – 5.57 Gb Thanks again Best Ed
  11. Hi scook, thanks very much for the info - very very helpful as always - I will work through both your and Mark's observations and advice i.e. I will work through step by step - observe and make notes and will probably post a follow up Q for checks to make sure I don't do anything stupid e.g. Studio Instruments Thanks again Very best Ed
  12. Hi Mark - thanks for your always helpful advice - I'll probably spend the rest of the day taking on board your advice and reanalysing the situation - but just one more Q - do you use anything like Beatscape anymore because it seems to be very high on the Gb rar. file e.g. seems to be very high on the Gb's Again thanks for the help - hope the last point makes sense with regard to the things that I can safely delete Very best Ed
  13. Hi All, Quick Q: Re X1 X2 X3 I'm trying to clean up my computer and noticed that - going through the Desktop files with respect to all my Sonar CBB installations that the space and repetition of installations e.g. Dim Pro were as follows Sonar X1 - 32.1 Gb Sonar X2 - 15.4Gb Sonar X3 - 13 Gb And with a little of file investigation noticed that - for example Dim Pro and many other programmes were being repeated to the extent of approx. 3.5 Gb's per installation and a lot more files & their zipfiles were equally repetitious and space demanding So the Q is - Do I leave the X Series and Splat as they are to keep all the previous instruments e.g. Beatscape & Studio Instruments etc or is there a way to "keep the core" of Sonar for use in CBB and delete the repeated instances of e.g. Dim Pro (with the zipfiles etc - that are all still there taking space) Hopefully, there is a way so - any observations/warnings are most welcome If necessary I can provide Screenshots of the relevant files - to allow a visual view of the relevant files Don't worry - I do not do anything in a rush these days - but if any long time Sonar - tech wiz - users have any suggestions - it would be a real help Best Ed
  14. Hi All, Q: Re: CBB & Kontakt Have put NI 64 Vsts into the Plugin Manager - so far so good - have opened Session Horns which will play if I directly hit the Vst keyboard - but when I try to use my keyboard LPK25 apparently there is no connection - have tried going through the options in the Kontakt track input e.g. none - all - LPK25 etc and still the keyboard seems is getting no response I've had this working before but am I missing something out Any advice/tip most welcome Best Ed
  15. Thanks Blindeddie - great tips especially the "copy the zip" to a thumb drive or external HD Brilliant - and thanks for the quick reply - have a good one Thanks again Best Ed
  16. Hi All, Re: Sample Files & Sample File zip files - Storage Quick Q: I downloaded some large Blue Octopus Sample Files e.g. 8Gb - I extracted the samples to an external HD to go through and then move samples I liked to a CBB AudioContent file - but I noticed that the zip files in my Laptop download file are equally as large i.e. 8Gbs etc So I'm wondering (to save space on my Laptop) if, after extracting Sample files to my external HD if it would be ok to delete the zip files and if necessary return to Blue Octopus for redownload The above would save a lot of space on my computer but is there something technical that I am failing to appreciate Would really love to really start streamlining my "Music" Laptop - so any advice and suggestions most welcome Best Ed
  17. Hi scook - unfortunately no - all SI's are unavailable But you mention CBB SI Installer - I'm wondering if I unchecked the tickbox - I'll have a quick check and update Thanks as ever scook Back in a bit Thanks Best Ed
  18. Hi All, Re: Splat and CBB Studio Instruments - Quick Q Q: I noticed I had both versions Splat 1.5Gbs and CBB 1.73Gbs (I think) so to save space I deleted Splat SI's - but CBB SI's have not filled/replaced the SI Instrumentation on my tracks - does anybody have any advice/thoughts of either reinstalling Splat SI's or linking CBB SI's to the relevant tracks (e.g. have I missed something regarding the CBB SI installation? - Any suggestions most welcome. As always thanks for the help Best Ed
  19. Hi Canopus, Bitflipper and CJ - Thanks for the observations and advice - I'll try working through, very slowly - esp Re: Iris2 (Thanks for the Screenshots Canopus - really excellent) Thanks again Best Ed
  20. Hi All, Q: Is it possible to put Plugins e.g. iZotope Iris2 (which seems to have approx. 11Gbs) on to an external HD and add the relevant file to the CBB File Plugin Manager? Thanks best Ed
  21. Thanks Mark and CJ for your directions - will give them a go and get back to you Thanks again Best Ed
  22. Hi All, Think this may have been covered before but I'm spending more time on tech than making music So Using - Acer Aspire 7750 with 2.5Ghz with Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz with Focusrite 2i2 Problem: CBB is frequently showing "Dropout" - not too bad because wait for a bit and start the track again and CBB kicks back in - but is still a time waster i.e. flow Problem: Focusrite is seriously crashing creating "Dump Files" (hope I got the terminology correct) but this does require a reboot and again time, time, time wasted So hope someone has some direction with regard to the above problems - would really love to just getting on with it Thanks again esp scook who has been so helpful - but now not sure what to do - I can just about get something down and then go through the crash process reboot etc etc etc All suggestions welcomed Best Ed
  23. Hi scook - worked exactly as you said - thanks again so much Brilliant Very best Ed
  24. Hi scook - that's great really great and thanks for the really fast reply - you wouldn't believe I've been struggling with this for the last 2 days Thanks - have just got to feed the cats - and will give it a try a little later to provide feedback Best Ed
  25. Hi All Re: Previewing Samples e.g. One Shots Everything was working fine - preview the One Shot e.g. HiHats and then decide whether to use it in Session Drummer3 Now everytime I select a sample it has become a semi synthetic distorted sound. However, if I drag the sample to an audio track or directly into Session Drummer3 the audio is fine. Obviously I'm struggling with the selection process of samples and my workaround is grindingly time consuming. Would love it to be the way it was - also I have muted or deleted any instruments that may be conflicting with the sample but still a direct audition creates the above mentioned horrible noise. Any ideas? Thanks Ed
