"All of this might no longer be applicable. Have you tried playing it in real time?"

I am creating the track in PRV. To get the sound to line up I am nudging the track -50ms and it sounds fine. The only downside is that after nudging when I go back into PRV to edit, the notes are not in align with the rest of the tracks.

"If still necessary, MIDI can be offset using the Time+ control in the Track Inspector (-100 ticks  = 50ms early at 125bpm). But it can't offset an event that's at 1:01:000 so you might have to start your whole project at 2:01:000."

It is an instrument track. Will this (Time+) still work with an instrument track. (Please explain as if I am a 3rd grader)

  2. Is there still no track delay?

Since it is an instrument track would I just use the Track Inspector setting "Time+", as shared in the thread, to do the same thing as track delay?

Also, I see shared in the thread that you can change the start time for a clip. How would I delay the start time by -50ms?

Or do I just use the nudge tool once I have completed the part in PRV which is how I create the clip? I have tried this but I have to keep nudging (for playback) and unnudging (to edit so everything aligns in PRV) as I am working in PRV to edit the clip which is somewhat frustrating.

    Thank you for any help,

It takes no specific tools to create a CAL script. The files are text files which may be opened in any text editor. There few guides available and the feature was deprecated over 20 years ago.

Best to always use a copy of the MIDI track when working with CAL.

It appears that http://www.midi-kit.nl/ has moved to http://members.ziggo.nl/odw/en/index.html. This site is a pretty good resource. There is a CAL guide pdf on http://members.ziggo.nl/odw/en/indexmidi.html which is useful.

Softpedia still has the CAL Editor available for download. I don't care for the editor but it includes a CAL reference in chm format which I used a lot when working with CAL.

All that said, putting a lot of effort in CAL at this time is not a wise use of time. It was abandoned in 2000 with the first release of SONAR.

The CAL guide PDF is an interesting read. Thank you for taking time to share.

If I was going to use a CAL script, I would use one that randomly adjusts the times of the notes slightly.  If you do end up writing a CAL to do this, do not use the Editslide command (or Editslide40 command) - this will categorically crash CbB.  Adjust the time parameter of the note event instead.

What software/language would one use to open and modify a CAL script?

Dumb question: How do you use imgur? When I need them, I create links to images, usually screenshots, on OneDrive. I signed up for imgur and looked around a bit. Looks like it's mainly a sight for publicly sharing memes, kinda like instagram. I didn't see anything about storing images that couldn't be viewed and shared by the public.

    Thanks.

    Bill

I use it to embed images in posts on forums.

Snapping loop markers is working here - honors Global snap if PRV snap is off and PRV snap if it's on.

Possibly you have PRV snap set to a low resolution and/or magnetism is not high enough  for you to clearly see the snap at the current zoom level...?

My PRV won't honor Global snap when PRV snap is off.

... Or you could try using a free vst plugin like Chordz https://freevsts.com/chordz/

I am always looking for the fastest way to input chords into PRV. I have looked at Chordz before and as I far as I can tell it just helps someone play chords by just using a single key press. I play guitar so currently when entering chords into PRV I am clicking the individual chord notes one by one. Something like the picture I posted above would be very helpful.

I am not complaining though. Once I have the chord in PRV I can copy and paste throughout the song so it is not too bad.

Thank you for all your help,

No, but from the inspector you can lock to a midi scale, and it will highlight those notes in the PRV, making it easy to build chords from a scale.

Can this be done with an instrument track? I have googled but cannot find a page that instructs how to do this. This is something I would really like to learn how to do.

  9. Is it possible to delete a project track without opening the project? Earlier when I tried to open a project I got the below error code. I had to finally end up uninstalling the Ample Sound plugin before I could open the project. I then deleted the Ample Sound track and the project now opens with no problem. In the future, if this happens again, I would like to be able to delete the track without having to uninstall the Ample Sound software.

@yetoThe problem is that there is no proper way to define what is C3! There are different opinions about that, especially for guitar or male voices.

The default for CbB for displaying the octaves is that it starts from 0 (I guess they made it like that to avoid negative octave values). But you can configure in 'Preferences > Customization > Display' the value 'Base Octave for Pitches', and if you set it to -2 it matches most definitions for Vst instruments, also for Ample Sound! I think it would be better if the Bakers would use this as default value, because many people have/had trouble with the current default value! 😡

Thank you. This is good information that will be very helpful. Thank you for taking time out of your day to share.

The other alternative would be to use a CAL script. There is one for natural minor iirc in the CAL library. You enter the root note and then run the script. It will build the chords for you.

I Googled "midi daw cal library" but I didn't see any related results. What is a CAL library?
