  1. My question - Are you really that maxed out on memory and CPU that freezing is needed? An option would be to freeze everything and copy the tracks to audio tracks. Then you can unfreeze Kontakt and mute stuff.
  2. Look at the promo for DAWs on the developers web sites. It’s always a Young person wearing headphones sitting at a laptop. There’s the target market. Sometimes you will see a guitar but rare.
  3. It might help if you say which midi slider you are using. And how you are using it. Act? Midi Learn?
  4. OS upgrades always give you the option to keep all files and settings or to nuke them. Myself before I would do this I would spend $50 on a 500 GB ( or??) SSD drive and clone your current system. Samsung has a free app the Magician that I’ve used a few times now that works perfectly for this.
  5. I use a similar app called SonoBus. It has a lot of tweaking you can try to bring the latency down.
  6. The difference there is a musician can be a player and support the song or you can be the one delivering the song. The best gig I ever had was for 4 years I was an activity worker in a care home. I played my guitar every day and sang old songs. This is we’re I learned it’s more about the lyrics to the old songs than the music. Even though I was capable of soloing I never did. The focus was always the chorus. An example was we brought in these friends of mine who had a jazz quartet and they played old standards but no vocals. There was no reaction from the residents. When I did the sing alongs everybody reacted and most tried their best to sing along. We also learned lyrics sheets were a waist of time for all but the few who were still at that level. You might not remember the name of your daughter but you can sing the chorus to Home on Range

    The crush again...

I just learned how to read the dump files so I was looking at all of mine from the last year. Kontakt and TTS-1. Every time. That Quick Quack sounds like a loser too.
  8. Seems like it’s to do with moving the desktop to a different drive. I don’t think that’s allowed??
  9. Amen. It’s worse on the Facebook pages. They are all so very uninformed about the whole show . Who can blame them.
  10. Sorry I should have read you answer more closely as I see now what you were saying is clear. What I don’t know is what this person is using Bandlab app on . It might be totally different when you use an audio interface with a tablet or phone. And Apple doesn’t need ASIO as far as I can tell.
  11. Sorry but that is wrong information. Audio levels are set at the audio interface before it is converted to digital and sent to your Daw. You can turn the track gain right off and the recording level will not change. As you set the levels on your Interface with the track in record standby the track meter should match what the meter on the interface is showing. This is true of ASIO system. On board audio there’s Windows volume mixer involved. Possibly your friend did not check there and make sure they are using ASIO mode. Oh wait a minute did you say Bandlab the cell phone app?? Or are you saying Cakewalk by Bandlab

Did you follow the instructions in the video posted by @reginaldStjohn?

It’s been gone over a million times on all the audio related forums and the conclusion is that in blind testing nobody can hear a difference. Even the super budget converters on a computer sound card seem to work fine. Of course there must be a difference but it will be off the spectrum of human hearing. You won’t hear anything different running the signal through a mixer like a Mackie. They are good mixers and transparent.

the Behringers that have the Midas pre amps are actually one of the best pre amps available. They rate very high on the list. The ones that don’t have Midas are considered garbage and rate near the bottom.

I don’t really review them I just compare price points to features. This video he reviews in detail and has tested a few. The only problem is there’s a few interfaces he didn’t test like Zoom and Tascam that are in my opinion very good interfaces.

I will interpret this as you are saying to use analog gear you have to send it out from the DAW through you audio interface and then bring it back? Yes often people who do this use what are called inserts if your interface supports them. But a regular interface can easily be configured if it has lots of ins and outs. With a good quality interface using ASIO drivers there should be no latency. The DAW and the ASIO driver calculate the latency and adjust for it so everything is in perfect sync. Only ASIO does this.

You won’t normally hear back from them. I never have other than auto generated emails telling me to try safe mode. Which is what you need to try. It will be a plug in you need to remove.
  18. Just look for the text in blue which is a link and opens a page with details about what causes the crash. How about you attach the actual dump file here.
  19. I’m by no means perfect unless it’s a bass part😎 It might take me 20 times to record a guitar solo. I just keep overdubbing until I nail it. I have no patience for gluing together a bunch of badly played parts. Those attempts always sound stupid to me. For the left over blunders I can then simply punch in or better yet use Melodyne to move a note to where it belongs. Tape deck mode rocks! There’s also the fact that I need to be able to go play these songs live!
  20. Being someone who started in the 60’s with dozens of garage bands playing cover tunes and having fun playing at dances and all that stuff. This was a time when it was possible to actually get out there and score a record deal. I chose a day job instead and music was just a hobby and getting together with other people like me to jam. This was my big city days. Music was fun and casual. I even bought a Reel to reel and started my recording journey. I was like this for about 15 years and we moved to a small community and was immediately grabbed by a local band and hauled off to play at hippie festivals, bars, nightclubs and all that wonderful 80’s stuff. My wife was not happy staying at home with the kids while I spent the weekend out of town making my $100! So I went solo and stayed close to home. I also made $300- $450 this way. Wife was happy and I was still playing. What I learned was I had become addicted to playing live. Im now 71 and I still get phone calls to go do gigs. I still only make $300? Then I have written over 50 original songs and recorded them since 1993 when I built my first studio. I would make cassettes and sell a few of them at gigs but overall it was a flop. I might have made a total of $200 selling Tapes and CD’s in my entire lifetime. Fast forward to last summer when I went big time and posted 14 songs using DistroKid. So far that has netted me $5. So I feel just like you and I think I’ll just pull them and tell the distributor to keep there lousy $5. People want to hear my songs they can come to my gigs and I’ll sell them a CD for $2.00 and make more money that way I have no clue if the people streaming my song actually like them?? At least when you play to a real audience you get a response. I really don’t see the point in releasing music with the new system anymore. And I read here that there’s probably people stealing my music and releasing it under different names. So I can totally see where you are coming from. .
  21. Exactly. I get screwed up when I start a project from a Midi file or a default template. It's caused me a lot of trouble over the years. I hate that comping is the default. I think it should be a global choice in preferences. I was thrilled to see that overwrite is the default in Cakewalk Next. The dude who programed that software at least was smarter than the Sonar dude!
  22. Simple, just turn on automation write and move the mix from 100% 0n to 0% off. In your case this would be from 30% This was cool, I've never tried to post a video directly. It worked!! Screw Youtube, this is faster!! It was a fluke the movie was exactly 2.44MB! The other way would be to put the delay as a Sub Bus and automate the send. automation.mp4

Like the old Aphex Aural exciter. It made your PA sound "better" turned out it was just adding high frequency harmonic distortion. We all know how much more fun it is to play a guitar at maxed out pre amp overdrive from a tube amp. Pedals just never cut it for me. But a Fender, Orange, Blackstar ,Marshall, Hi Watt, Vox etc on 11 can't be beat!
  24. Did you open the crash dump and look at what actually caused the crash? I just learned how to do this after all these years thanks to help from another forum member. You will need this app. WinDbg. available at the Microsoft store. It can open any dump files for any software. The Dump file is hard to find but this is my pathway for Sonar. Users\me\Appdata\roaming\cakewalk\Sonar\mini dumps I played with it for a few hours looking at all the crash dumps from the last year and it was always either the TTS-1 ( another DX plug in) and Kontakt. I also found out why my video editing software was crashing. It was VST plug in related.
  25. But also proof on other systems, even if all those headphones are different they are still just one type of listening device. I bought this and it's been the greatest proofer of them all. It's Mono and will immediately make anything that is wrong like too much bass real obvious. I can play exported mixes through it using Media Player even with Cakewalk open. I also use Sonobus https://www.sonobus.net/ to send directly from my Master bus to my cell phone. Its amazing software FREE! iHome Weather Tough Portable BT Speaker with LED Black
