If the range for CC64 is set from 0 to 127, can you change it to go from 127 to 0 (i.e., swap max and min values)?

I cant find any info on how to do it - it is like there is no possibility to do it. Ive been looking for this all day and there is no mention im manual or on any forum, nothing. I assume that this is not possible with this keyboard. But maybe inside Cakewalk?

  2. Hi

I just got the Roland Edirol PCR M50 MIDI controller

I got my sustain pedal (not Roland)  it works but in reverse (sustain when not pressed, staccato when pressed).

I read that this is common for Roland to do it in reversed and there is nothing I can do with my pedal (no polarity reverse switch) and nothing with the MIDI controller (no possibility of changing the settings).

So last hope is to try to reverse the value in Cakewalk settings - so the 0 will be 127 and 127 will become 0, but I dont know where to adjust it?

    Please help.

...another option is to build a custom DIY sustain pedal with reversed polarity ... could be done but tweaking the setting s in CbB could be more easy solution :)

    Thanks in advance.

According to the documentation the sample rate of imported files is converted to the project sample rate.

It appears that you can have files with different bit depths in the project, but there is a setting to set the bit depth of imported audio

    http://gaga.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=AudioPerformance.06.html

    http://gaga.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=AudioPerformance.09.html

If your project is at 16/44.1K then I would export directly to 24 bits. Internally Cakewalk is using 32 or 64 bit floats. So if it converts the floats to 16 bit and then exports to 24 then it doesn't matter the order you export in. If it goes directly from the float to 24 then a direct export to 24 bits would be recommended.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated

I think it's brain dead that Cakewalk seems to set the default recording to 44.1? It's like a 12 years ago concept.

We can set it in preferences. I chose to work in 16/44.1  because I have only 222GB SSDrive and Im struggling  for every free GB.

To bad you ended up with 44.1, that sucks.

Why that sucks? Would you hear the difference? ;)

  5. Hi

    Consultation and advice needed!

Im finishing my mixes and preparing them for pro mastering. My first album is on it's way!

    One issue arrived:

The master engineer to whom I will send it requires 24 bit depth files.

Now situation in all my project is this:

Some tracks were recorded in 24/48 and others in different time and place were recorded in 16/41 and in the end all recordings ended mixed in projects with default 16/41

Now I wonder if that might be a problem...

    Question nr1:

What Cakewalk does when its feeded with audio files of a different bit depth and sample rate? (knowing that default for all projects is 16/41)

Does it automatically applies dithering when going down from 24 to 16? What about sample rate?

    Question nr2:

What now, when sending for mastering (24 bit depth required) - render them in 16(project bit depth)and convert to 24, or render straight to 24?

I have 2 weeks to sort it out before deadline.

Thanks in advance for your time and help

  6. Back to reducing CPU usage:

Mind what plugins you have on your master bus - this bus is especially "sensitive".  Look if you can take some off, switch off, or replace for some lighter ones.

See if any of plugins VSTs in use could be replaced with similar but more CPU friendly.

If your computer is connected to internet - disconnect and turn of any real time protection  (just remember to turn it back on later!!!)

Be sure that no other program is running beside Cakewalk.

Find on the internet an article on how to optimize windows for music production. One dedicated to your windows version. You will find there lots of useful suggestions on how to improve things in Windows OS to make it more easy for any DAW to work.

Automation? Check your automation lanes for a node or envelope

    Nope.

This issue occurs only on HP filters that are not automated (no HPF envelope). HPF's with automation envelopes stay exactly where I set them.

  8. This is wierd...
Once in a while Cakewalk will crank up HP filter in Pro Channel EQ. At the beginning I thought that I was doing that by mistake, but after all this time I observe it again and again and I'm pretty sure now that it happens not form my intention. The HP filter lands so high that the track looses all the low end, sometimes so high that it gets inaudible. Im mixing like always and once in a while I will realise that one track (I'm not working currently on) somewhere in the mix is gone - then when checking on it I see the HP filter is busted. What is happening? Am I doing something wrong or is it a genuine bug? Do you have similar issue?

  9. Hi

    Help needed.

Today my projects begun to act strangely. Please watch the video attached.

When I press start and then want to stop I have to wait some time for playback to stop. It is different time of waiting in different projects (some stops even longer and other without any delay at all) and when I click on the ruler while playback it should jump immediately to that moment, but I have to wait again for this to happen. What is interesting is that within same project I have different results on different tracks - some tracks will stop immediately after hitting stop.

Global FX bypass button helps, but not solves the issue (as I need it on for mixing).

I have disabled all plugins with global FX bypass and then brought back every plugin one by one hitting play and stop each time. NONE plugin or Prochannel module is making that issue! Strange

So, without using global FX bypass I switched off every thing I could - every plugin, all on/off buttons are OFF, bypassing everything.

I can't find anything that would be ON - yet, the issue persists.

Then I click on global FX bypass and magicaly the issue is gone.

Switching OFF global FX bypass and the issue is back

Now Im wondering what else is global FX bypass button turning off if everything is already off?

Anyway, yesterday it was working fine with or without global FX bypass

    Other things I've tried already:

    -Restarting computer

-going through all drivers available back and forth and back to ASIO

-reinstalling drivers for my audio interface

    nothing works

My latency is set to 11.6 msec 512 samples

    playback I/O buffers size: 512

    please help

  10. Im doing stem mastering and I want my master to be at 16 bit depth.

The stems provided from my friend are all in 16 already, but on few clips I had to do some editing and while bouncing edited clips cakewalk used my default setting and rendered them to 32. Now I have project with different bit depths.

The job is done and i would like to export is a s a master in 16 .

    Question:

Can I export it with these bit differences?

Should I use dithering to manage these few 32 bit depth clips?

Maybe it is better to render these 32 clips inside the project before exporting all in 16?

Or stop being lazy and export all as it is in 24 bit depth then open new project and  import and export in 16 with dithering?

I will be grateful for your help

  11. I have no clip envelopes whatsoever. Only track envelopes.

I wrote to the support team.

In the meantime I discovered that if  before working with automation lines I will change the line from linear to jump then I don't have this crazy mess and it works ok.

Or if i simply put two nodes on the line then wherever in between that two nodes I can work normally with my automation line.

Have seen something like this reported before, but don't recall the outcome. Can't reproduce it offhand on a track with multipe lanes. I would SWAG that something has gone haywire with pointers in memory. Is it reproducible after closing/re-opening the project and/or re-starting Cakewalk?

    Thank you for your answer.

Could you be so kind and help me to find this post/thread/report about similar issue?

Could you please explain me what "SWAG" means.

By "pointers" you mean automation line dots? How can I check it, where is this memory?

Yes, it is happening every time when I open this project . I tried also to save project as a copy but it is happening also on the copy.

About reinstalling Cakewalk I wouldn't like to do it as Im in a middle of a project and I have deadline for album release and I really wouldn't want to risk that something may go wrong during the process of reinstallation.

I also wait with the latest update.

  13. Hello everyone.

I have another one. This is a good one! Who will be so kind and helpful to explain me what the heck is going on. Please watch the video attached. So Im working with automation lines as I always did: smart tool and with my custom combination of keyboard keys I draw a straight lines ( I find this method super fast and useful). But I never had issue like this before!

    Please help.

New discover: it happens only in places (same track) where I have more than one take lines

  14. I get in now.

    Thanks guys for help.

I thought that "mastering" was the final step....

It all started with my brand new project template, where I decided to have my ProChanell prepared with HP on waiting for me. Then I wanted to cut 26 second out of my mastered track for FB story promo and I've noticed red light on my meters :) I will update my track template and turn HP off and  will remember this lesson. Thanks again

    One last  thing:

Phase shifts caused by non-linear-phase EQing (or other processing) can cause peaks to change by small amounts. Put a loudness meter in the bin, or just switch the meter to RMS, and I doubt you will see an increase anywhere.

I tried few loudness meters, I tried RMS but none of it makes any difference - still after switching HP on I get this boost.

So what are you trying to explain me is that I should not worry about this?  Do I understand it well?

It is normal? Do you have the same?

What about situation when I have mastered track loaded and I want to treat it with HP filter?  Yes I will have less low end but also at the same time boost in volume till its clipping.  Should it be this way?

  16. In the plugin browser at the bottom you have an info about whats going on in the ...plugin browser. So when you select a plugin it will tell you  many things.  Usually the manufacturer, version, VST nature,  64/32bit and more :)

  17. Hi there

Can anyone be so kind and explain me why by just turning on the HP filter on ProChanell EQ it gives boost around 1dB?

Please try this and say if you get same result:

Load a mastered track (loud one).

Only EQ is on. No other plugins. Just empty EQ and HP is set on smallest value both frequency and slope. Play a track and toggle between HP on/off and watch the meters. Sometimes smaller value but sometimes up to 1dB is boosted. I can even scope with HP up to 400 Hz and it still boost the meter higher than without HP.

It happens only on mastered tracks and not on tracks that are lower in vol.

    Please watch the video:

    I don't believe so.

Not all functions are exposed for (re)mapping.

That said, AutoHotkey or something similar is a skill worth picking up.

For example, here is the AutoHotkey script that maps the (currently unbound) F2 function key to CTRL+i in CbB (and only CbB)

When CbB has focus, press the F2 key and CbB receives CTRL+i.

Ok, Im in AutoHotkey club now

But Im having problem with my short cut for Inspector pane

I want to make Ctrl+Tab AutoHotkey do what Ctrl+I in CbB does and Im trying to use your template (just replacing your F2 with my Ctrl+Tab) but it does not work (I got an error)

    My sript is:

    #If WinActive("ahk_exe i)Cakewalk.exe")
    ^{Tab}::^i
    #If

Error message says: Line Text^{Tab}:: ^i

    What do I do wrong?

    Can you please help @scook

  19. Hello everyone.

    Is this a bug?

Few times already I've noticed that in some projects all markers that I've created are gone and the marker bar is filled with random markers named with the names from the tracks from the project.

    Have you experienced this?

Was it some secret keyboard shortcut that I've incidentally pressed or is it a genuine bug?

  20. Hello again

Why sometimes dragging EQ settings between projects (CTRL + drag from smaller window of bus (or ProChannel) to same smaller window in other project) work fine and sometimes (lately most of the times) dont work at all?

I know I can save EQ settings as a preset and load it in other projects but dragging was soooo muuuch simpler and faster.

I opened up Customisation | Keyboard Shortcuts (Advanced) and I was able to find “Show/hide ProChannel” under the Area “Console View” rather than “Global bindings”

From there, you can assign another key binding to “Show/hide ProChannel”

This is a good one. Although works only in console view it does make things easier than navigating with mouse cursor to the  tiny arrow.

Thanks - already assigned my custom shortcut to it.

    And regarding Inspector...
