  1. Seems as though there was still a registry entry pointing to where the file had previously existed.  The Cakewalk Plug-In Manager still showed a Melodyne entry in the VST3 Audio Effects (VST3) section in the list.  When I selected it and clicked remove it told me about the registry entry and asked if I wanted to delete it.  I clicked yes.  I closed Cakewalk and reopened it and the update prompt was gone.

I was unable to delete this question so I just added what I did.  Maybe it will help someone else in the future.

  2. Hey Team,  A while back I uninstalled Melodyne following some instructions found on this forum and thought all had went as planned.  It no longer showed in my installed programs or in the Cakewalk program.

Now recently I am getting prompts that there is an "Update Melodyne Trial Plug-in" and to Download Now.  Same type update box as when the regular software updated.  Obviously the uninstall did not get it all.  Can someone describe the correct steps to permanently remove the Melodyne trial once and for all?

There is no need to ever change a plug-in from an FX to a synth.

If an FX plug-in can use MIDI data, open the VST2/3  drop down in the plug-in standard header to turn on "Enable MIDI Input".

When an FX plug-in has "Enable MIDI Input" turned on, the plug-in will appear in MIDI track output drop downs.

Thank you.  I knew there had to be something simple was missing.

  4. Hey all.  Hope this is something simple I am missing.  I have the audio track.  I add Waves Harmony as the first Audio Fx.  I add a Midi track.  There does not seem to be a way to route that midi track to the Waves Harmony on the audio track.  I went into the Plugin Manager and set the option to use as a synth and re-scanned the plugins.  Still do not see the option.  This seems to work without any additional configuration in Ableton but I would prefer to do everything in Cakewalk.  Thanks for any assistance.

  5. I had some time last night to do some digging.  I knew that it was working previously so I went to the install directory.  Mine is here.

    C:\Users\myUserIdHere\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk

The I started looking through the folders.

In the ACT Data folder there was a file named sonaract.xml with a recent date on it.  I renamed the file with a .old extention added to the end of the name and confirmed the change.

In the Cakewalk Core folder there were 3 files with the same recent date as the file in the ACT Data folder.  I did not feel like changing all three extensions so I just drug them to the desktop.

I rebooted the machine.  Maybe not necessary but I did anyway.  After the reboot Cakewalk opened successfully and recreated the files.  I had to remap my Launchkey but that is a simple process.  Not sure if this will work for everyone but I hope it helps someone.

  6. Did anyone ever actually figure out the real problem.  Seems like this thread is a year old now.  Seems to be midi related as I can do a fresh boot of the laptop, then open Cakewalk, then it starts to open but crashes and leaves a midi process abandoned.  The only way to clear it is to reboot.

  7. I downloaded the Midi Ox software mentioned above.  I was able to load the INS file for the FA-06 into it.  The Midi Ox software sent the correct information to the FA-06, so I know the INS files are correct.  I was also able to route a Novation LaunchKey37 through Midi Ox to the FA-06 and change the patches correctly from the LaunchKey.  I am certain there is something in Cakewalk that has changed being it is the only part of the equation that does not work as expected.

Promidi - If you see this, could you attach the INS file that you have that is still working?  I would love to see if there is something different in the formatting of the data that has allowed yours to continue to work.

I am starting to wonder if the issue is actual in the Korg Triton

as of today I have tested 4 different instruments.  An NX5R, an MP7, a Triton Rack, and the FA-06.  They are all doing the same thing.  When I select the device and bank and patch in Cakewalk, they all go to the correct bank but load the first patch in the bank.  It's almost like someone is playing a practical joke that is not funny.  I do appreciate you testing the file and following up with me.

  9. Hey all,

I was working with a friend last night getting a Triton Rack set up that had previously been working in his old version of Sonar.  He is now on the current release of the BandLab version of Cakewalk.  When we loaded the ins file that had previously been working, the device would change banks correctly, but not respond to the patch change.  It would always stay on the first patch in the bank.  I had a Korg NX5R that had also previously worked.  I loaded the ins for it and had the same issue.  We believed further research would be necessary.  This morning I connected my Roland FA-06 and loaded an ins that had previously worked and it also has the same issue.  I have attempted to modify the file with a few different parameters to see if anything would work, but so far I have had no success.

I have attached a simple ins for the FA-06 that I have used successfully in the past.  I would love for some of you to put some more eyes on it to see what may be needed to be updated to make it work with the current version of Cakewalk.

It would also be great to know if anyone else is having any luck with patch changes on any of your older gear.  Is it perhaps a bug in the Cakewalk software?

Any thoughts and comments are appreciated.
