Btw I was able to make contact last month with Terry's wife Joan. She told me she'd be in touch with any news. I send her a message now and then to let her know we're thinking of them, but of course I don't press her for information. If I hear from her again I'll post right away.

I grew up in San Diego and a friend worked for this company. I remember laughing at this ad because who the heck needs 10 MB of storage anyway??? I waited until the price came down to $910 and bought one... *Sigh...* 🙄

What makes you think this? There is a stable release now that came out about 60 days ago. How often do you usually get updates of your audio software? Other companies take way longer to issue updates than BandLab. Some even years or never. Usually with Cakewalk, when it takes longer than usual the next release will include some fab new features. Now that most of the longstanding bugs have been dealt with, we've seen biggies like the Arranger Track and Articulations Map. Maybe there's something new in the works. Maybe the developers took some time off. Whatever, 2 months is not a long time to wait for an update of DAW software.

Just a thought.... I like the added Subforums which in reality should have been done (and was lobbied for) from the beginning. However, wouldn't it have also made sense to move the Deals forum up with the Subforum big boys? Deals include both Hardware & Software and is one the most trafficked on the website IMHO. ....just a thought.

    >>If I go thru the bug fixes in the last couple of releases, then I also see that many fixes are related to the new features! This is completely normal to the way we work. When we release a new feature we continue refining and making it as solid as possible before moving on to the next area. We also tend to fix issues by category. In every release we tackle areas like Plugins, editing, UX, workflow, performance and stability. So there is something there for everyone and the product gets better in every release. I’ll be the first to say that we still have plenty of room for improvement despite the fact that focus has been very high on making the product more stable since 2018. We look at the forums social media groups but the best way to get attention to problems and solve them quickly is to write specific and demonstrable reports of problems encountered, include a project file or video demonstrating the issue (if necessary) and include dump files if the issue is a crash or hang. And of course send the case to support and get a ticket to follow up. Following these basic steps has a much greater effect than making general statements like “I run into issues on every project”, etc. Not everyone has the time to do this, but if you care about getting issues fixed this is the only way.

I have received a reply from AAS regarding the change logs. They are as follows: Of particular note for all: Dropped support for 32-bit DAWs. Dropped support for Windows 7 (This did not surprised me) Note: not supported may not necessarily mean that it does not work - it just means if you contact AAS support, and you say you’re running Windows 7, their first answer will be to update to Windows 10. I do a lot of location recordings. Music, mostly. I've often nervously wondered what it would take to make my system fall over as my mobile rig is pretty humble. Specs are: HP ProBook6565b (i5 1.6Ghz) laptop 8GB Ram 1 x SSD Kingston 400 for OS 1 x internal Seagate HHD 1TB for Audio Win 10 Pro. RME Fireface800 Asio driver @256Samples Buffer Recording done at 48k, 24bit. I just finished tracking three choirs for a project and it was all recorded in layers on location, totaling 238 audio tracks (pic attached). Recording was done 2 tracks at a time with no plugins on any tracks. Each of the 10 subgroups of voices was routed through an Aux with Breverb running for on the fly playback mixes, so that's 10 x Auxes and 10 x Breverb. Well, the bottom line is the system had a few dropouts towards the last session when I was jumping around a bit too quickly between takes, but it never had an audio dropout or even a pop or crackle during tracking. It felt solid and would probably be solid for another 20 or 30 tracks, if not more. I may well clone the tracks to see how far I can still push it. Disk performance hovered between 15% and 50% depending on the amount of tracks in that section of the production. I thought the info might come in handy to someone, somewhere It's good to know CbB is up there (and in my opinion ABOVE) some of the "pro" DAWs..

I have from the start of the BandLab era been vocal on this topic. Not going to jump in with anything that's already been said. A thing about this that continues to baffle me is why people seem to think that a bunch of random users on a public forum would be able to answer this. We're not privy to any insider information. Any software company can go out of business. Steinberg, Presonus, MAGIX, Cockos, Tracktion (has done at least once), Acoustica, all of them. When companies go out of business, they sell off their assets. In the case of software companies, their intellectual property (software code base, patents, trademarks) gets liquidated. This is how Cakewalk got to its current favorable status. If BandLab should decide to tank the whole Cakewalk experiment, they will likely liquidate the IP and it will live on. While I feel the pain; who likes to pay for something that shows up a week later as the Pluginboutique freebie of the month? Happened with me a few times. I paid for Ozone Essentials, which today seems crazy, it's being given away left and right. If I had waited 30 days, the $20 I spent on BYOME would have dropped to free with my vouchers. It's all in the game. I got to mess with BYOME for a month, which is a lot of value. And the guys at Unfiltered deserve some of my hard-earned for making such a great bit of software. They deserve more than $20, actually. My take on it, as someone who coughed up for a SONAR license about 20 years ago and then started back up in the BandLab era is that (y)our license fee(s) weren't thrown away, they went to keep the company afloat long enough to survive to be picked up by another company (who is of course delivering on updates in a big way). Also, your copy of SONAR Platinum came with other software that I'd love to have but that money literally can't buy. Now we can collaborate in native format with anyone with an internet connection and a Windows system. I'd say that there are worse deals.

The latest Beat magazine includes the WA Production Fundamental Bass plugin. To get it you need to go to https://www.serialcenter.de and request the serial number (which doesn't require entering a word from magazine, at least not yet). The code they send you can be used at the WA store (link is in the email you get) to get the plugin for free (when checking out be sure to remove the automatically included free product or you can't checkout with the code). You can then download the product from your WA account and will have a serial number for it. (You can also download the product from Beat magazine -- but that requires a word from the magazine and won't work without a serial number). Here's a link to the product: https://www.waproduction.com/plugins/view/fundamental-bass I get Beat (both German and English) through Readly, a Netflix for magazines subscription service. They have almost all the British computer music magazines included. (my initial impression of the plugin is it's kind of meh and most likely not worth your time, but it's a deal I guess so I'm posting)

I got this yesterday. This is my first Creator Series, and I was surprised to see that you can get up to 9 drums/percussion instruments on one note! And some of these are pretty poweful drums! I'm sure it is well explained in the demos, but it didn't sink into my head, as when I think of a kit, my brain is programmed to think of it as different instruments on each note. With this you can get a huge kit on one note. And when you start playing these patterns... let's just say full versions of the MIDI files are aimed mainly at the very LOUD end of the spectrum. The demos make this clear. If you make epic music, this will rock you. And I could see how somebody could do a cue for an action movie just using one of the presets. Certainly you wouldn't need much more. At the same time, each production kit has versions that are only high or only low. So you can get some nice variations there. I can see myself using those the most. There are some really great things in there. But what really is great about it is the high quality of the sampling and MIDI patterns. They add up to drum beats that sound as real as they are dynamic. With all the great drums recorded I can make more modest kits for myself that will work very well for my needs. I'm happy with my purchase.

I would like to recommend to anyone who hasn't upgraded their FreeFX Bundle that they snap this up. Especially if you can do it in conjunction with the other first-timer discounts. If it's your first purchase with Meldaproduction, there are 2 ways to get extra savings: while you're setting up your account, sign up for their newsletter, which gets you 10 euros to spend any way you like. When you make your purchase, use my referral code, MELDA1923165, which will knock another 10% off the order (I'll also get credits for 10% of your order). These discounts also apply to any other first order from them. Since the FreeFX Bundle upgrade is now going for 20 euro, this scheme would make your eventual cost 9 euro, or $10.73. There are 37 plug-ins in the bundle. If you have the FreeFX Bundle, the upgrade lets you use the plug-ins' preset manager (and download community presets), scale the UI, use upsampling, and access the multiparameters and custom modulators screens for plug-ins that have them. The plug-ins in the bundle that I use often, and which I believe to be at the top of their class at any price, include MTuner, MEQualizer, MCompressor, MStereoscope, MLoudnessanalyzer, and MMetronome. If the tuner by itself cost 9 euros it would be a must have. It's polyphonic and has a pitch-to-MIDI convertor. I also use MOscillator and MNoisegenerator when I need such utilities for testing. Many of the rest also see occasional use.
