  1. personally I think this should be a freebie for Smart:limit users - not sure that asking us to pay for it is justified.

  3. run ASC Pigments V. 4.0 Updated UI with simplified Play Mode (the one with macros etc.), cleaned up interface, and a new high-contrast Light Mode … well, yeah, looks like it takes the best of the look of rival Massive X. Plus left-right controls for navigating multimode modules. FX and Seq bypass. Ah, don’t know why all workstation synths don’t have this. New sync modes Drag-and-drop modulation editing. Now you just drag source to destination, then hover over the parameter to adjust mod depth. LFO presets – six waveform shapes (sine, random, etc.) Custom tuning support with ODDSound MTS-ESP compatibility Wavetable engine ring mod plus Pulse Width mode for Phase Transformation Harmonic engine now has new phase options with Phase Modulation and the ability to randomize the phase of all partials at once Modulator Oscillator with ratio options, extended 0.1 Hz – 20Khz range Super Unison effect, plus Unison controls are streamlined (closer to what’s in the rest of the Arturia stable) – unison across all engines, Unison Phase for Wavetable and Sample. MS-20 filter with both HP6 and LP12 modes Shimmer Reverb with two octaves of pitch shift and built-in modulation Bitcrusher adds Jitter, Scale, and Downsampling options Jup-8 V filter has FM control Notch Filter mode added to Multi Filter and Distortion Plus, part of what has always made Pigments fun to use is that it’s a big library of sound tools and resources. So of course, that’s expanded here. It’s new preset content, to be sure, but also new wavetables, samples, and noise types that you can build on – dozens of each, by Arturia’s count. So we’re not just talking libraries for preset lovers, but really an expanded toolkit for sound designers. There are also three new optional add-on libraries, too – Lo-fi, Neuro Bass, and CInematic. New Pigments users can get the latest version at an intro price of 99€/$. If you own other Arturia products, it could be even less than that – but you’ll have to log in to find out. Existing users, you get the update free of charge. If you want the added sound banks, the intro is 9.90€/$ for each or 19.90€/$ for the bundle. (Full price on the sound banks is 89.97€/$.

  5. I thought that what Smart:Limit was supposed to achieve. 1. Make it quick & Easy 2. then have controls to tweak is desired. Agree 100% Sounds like they just dumbed down the UI to create another product. I.E. got rid of #2 mention above. When SoundTheory's Gullfoss came up with different versions they just added them to the bundle. Sonible should take note.

  7. Hi, I have found my old, well preserved (empty) Sonar boxes. If somebody wants to put them in their studio shelves or for some other reason send me a PM. I am in Berlin, Germany so there would be some shipping costs involved. Or you can come by and we have a chat about the good ol' Cakewalk times... Peter

  10. I prefer the convention the Volume control uses: Double-click the control to center/zero it. Double-click the numeric value to edit it. But in the Track pane you must hit Enter to enable editing, and you're going to be typing anyway so you might as well hit Enter everywhere.

  11. Be aware that "AI" is an abandonware product. They will no longer add features to it and is more or less EOL. They are focused on squeezing money out of customers with NEO which uses most of AI features. I think the HDR app is worth the $20 as I do some HDR work and it has a good workflow. It also serves well as a very inexpensive RAW editor for non-HDR stuff and has 5 computer activations. Doesn't have a DAM built in, which I'm personally just fine with. As for all the other stuff, basically just presets for AI and the usefulness of that is going to be dependent on each individual. I have a whole mess of them from previous bundles and rarely use them.

  13. Scenario: in rehab for plug-in hoarding, you are sent to a desert island (with wi-fi for updates, of course) and given the choice of a single 3rd-party plug-in in each FX category. No suites, individual FX only. You can take individual plug-ins from your beloved iZotope suites, but not the whole suite. Which FX do you choose? For me, versatility will be an issue, so it's going to skew toward Meldaproduction. Reverb: MTurboReverb. Covers it all. Not as simple as just slapping Phoenix/Nimbus/Stratus on the reverb bus, but more versatile. Track Compressor: elysia mpressor. Sounds so sweet. Bus Compressor: T-Racks 670. Magic bus. Does M/S Multiband Compressor: MDynamicsMB. Versatility. M/S Precision EQ: T-Racks Equal. Plenty of bands and filter types. Character EQ: Lindell T-100. If I have to choose just one, this one seems the most versatile. Delay: MTurboDelay. See MTurboReverb. Covers it all. Chorus: Acon Multiply Pitch Shifter: kHs Pitch Shifter. The simplest possible, but it also works the best of any I've tried. Basic Filter: Soundspot Fat 2. Glitcher/Stutterer: MRhythmizer. Easier to navigate than Stutter Edit 2 Limiter: MLimiterX . Does the M/S Stereo Imager: OzSoft Xpander (it's a freebie, do check it out) Amp sim: bx_rockrack Vocoder: MVocoder. After a pretty exhaustive search, this is the one Saturation: Waves BB Tubes. Pretty nice freebie, I must say. Restoration: ReaFIR. Criminally overlooked and underrated, I've found no single plug-in that can do what this venerable freebie does when it comes to cleaning up camcorder footage or other noisy audio Clipper: T-Racks Classic Clipper Bonus round. As time goes on, you are allowed to expand with utilities and combos: Utility: Trackspacer. Edges out MAutoAlign because I won't be recording drums on the island. Multieffect: Unfiltered Audio TRIAD. Covers a LOT of ground in the realm of sound design. All-in-one Mastering: bx_masterdesk

  21. Orchestral Colours is only $29 USD (normally $99USD). I used the strings from that library on my cover of "I Am the Walrus" last year -- I simply played it live on my MIDI controller with no editing and was very happy with the sound. For $29, I'd call it a no-brainer. It does require the full version of KONTAKT. https://impactsoundworks.com/product/rhapsody-orchestral-colors/

  22. I think the current system is a very smart AND customer friendly way of upgrading/updating. So a great combination. You get the update for free, but you have the option of buying extra presets specifically for that update (or at least launched together). This way as a customer I can decide myself if I want to 'pay' or not. I could just say "thanks for the upgrade...bye!", or I can dip into a ton of presets which I probably wouldn't have gotten if they just released these without any update. I fell right into their very nice trap.

  23. Gotta love Arturia. Still loads of development and innovation happening and the major updates for free. It was already pretty comprehensive as it was, but they keep making it better and better. Great example for lots of other developers, new and especially old. The white skin does make it look a lot like MassiveX though for sure! Can't wait to install the update and get into it 🙂

  25. Just an FYI that this new version blocks anything older than Windows 10, and read that some are having issues even with Win10. The older version however works, and yes the serial you get with this promotion does work with older version. It's really hard to find the installer for that but I found it. If you want to use the program on Windows 8.1 or 7, here is the download for the old version that does work on those. https://downloads.skylum.com/luminarai/win/Win_Luminar_AI_1_0_1_Release.msi

Hopefully looking at the product pages will give you and others a better understanding if the addons are worth the price or not.

  32. I’ve experienced the same issue with my MPK49 as well. The pitch bend wheel doesn’t reliably return to zero; there’s some slight drift. Possibly because I never use it, so the pot’s gotten dirty. Whichever live (unfrozen) synth track was currently selected would be slightly out of tune. Solution is to clean the pot. Workaround is to disable pitchwheel events in Cakewalk.
    2 points
  33. For (1). MIDI can't get "out of tune", even on tempo changes. But most Synth react on "PitchWheel" events. Note that Cakewalk by default has "automatic echo" on MIDI tracks, so the track should not be armed to process external events, it just does not record them. Also note that some synth have "MIDI output" and Cakewalks "All MIDI Inputs" setting for MIDI track include also all software MIDI outputs. So, my guess you get some PitchWheel (or other events which produce pitch shift in particular synth), can be from (a) MPK (you touch the wheel or it is "self generating", not so unusual problem with MIDI controllers), (b) you cat if from MIDI output of some synth (c) in recording you somehow have "relative pitch shifting" CC and you don't reset it on looping, so it accumulates with time. For (2). I guess almost no-one these days use synced arpeggiators in MIDI keyboard. They are good for hardware synth, but DAWs allow advanced arpeggiation in software. So it can happened related functionality is not well debugged in CbB.

  39. Just screen-captured some of the folders from my Pigments. Seems like there are new samples for the banks. But I only see two new samples under the 'Wavelengths' in samples and nothing along the lines of 'Wavelengths' in the wavetable. I think there are new samples or wavetables, but just not a whole lot.
