  1. Just some thanks to everyone here. I've interacted with a bunch of you over the years and most of you know a lot more about effects and mixing than me, so I read your comments, likes and dislikes to guide me through the effects and try things out. I'm sure I'm not the only one doing this, so guys, when you're geeking out about gear you love as well as what you find disappointing, that's really helpful. So thanks, all.

  2. I'm the same, but I'd want to charge them a annual subscription fee just so they know how it feels to get shafted each year like they try and push on their customers victims 🤣 In saying that, there's no way they could pay me enough to use Protools! Cakewalk wins over this crippled free edition hands down in my opinion as well. It's always been funny that the so called "Industry Standard" DAW never supported the "Industry Standard" plugin format, aka VST Plugins! There really are much better DAWs out there these days, with much better pricing and licensing options, along with being more open with plugin standards, so I'm surprised they've held on as long as they have.

  3. Sweet! I used the $20 voucher and got Fuchs Overdrive Supreme 50 for 0!!!!

  4. Go Cakewalk. Can't miss. BUT you really need to put an effort to know the program, as much as we as musicians need to put an effort to learn to sing or play guitar. A lot of the complains about software is just lack of training and knowledge!

  5. Likewise. I have not bought anything since the voucher change. I used to buy a plugin a month on average. Now I used every voucher during this sale except the second $25 voucher, which probably brought my average up to one plugin a month again. Damn you Dirk!

  6. Yeah, me too!! There was not much I wanted at the prices before these "good vouchers " came around. Now I done spent a fair amount in this week!! Well ya'll talked me into it... I got the Ampeg -15N and Bass Mint for $20, ten bucks each. Sweet

  7. I was about to write how I rather invest in libraries I believe I'm going to use rather than libraries I might use but I'm not sure about, and not wanting to buy things on sale just because FOMO, and because of that after much deliberation I wouldn't buy the Anthology Strings. Then I read a few more threads over at VI-Control and listened to a some YouTube demos, and now I have 47 GB of more strings than I probably need. Dang it!

  8. I hear Rain's Amateurduce like an Amateur is also totally worth it. The tutorial on how to ruin a potentially decent mix alone is worth the asking price.

  10. Friend does use Pro Tools, he was put off with Cakewalk because it was free and what "some" people say but he has since seen me using Cakewalk firsthand, editing midi, creating my own samples, recording and comping, my libraries and my range of plugins including the stock. Yep he could believe it. Due to it being free and so good, all the other DAWS manufacture's attack it and probably pay for people to spread bollox. Another friend uses Logic on a Mac because they like everything mac. Iv'e been giving some productions lesson and some tips, so hes like how you do that on logic and i just find they made quite a few things on logic long winded and no logical in that irony. People don't realise how good cakewalk is in reality

  14. I really can't stress enough how much this annoys me! Even damn Softube who should know better have installers that don't give you that choice.. I will never use AAX plugins.. or Protools for that matter 🤣 Then sometimes I delete AAX plugins and then various developer's installers tell me that there's issues and I need to fix them before being able to install updates! They're like a virus 🤣

  15. Yeah, this is the first time in months that I bought anything. Looks like sales have massively regressed ever since they announced their "last voucher sale", so they're changing course yet again.

  16. If anyone was planning to use my referral credits to get $15USD off on this library, please use @Fwrend's link instead. I don't need the credits, I was just looking to save people money. As Fwrend is looking to save some money on the library, if you use his link and you've never bought anything from 8Dio, you'll get $15 USD off on this or any other 8Dio library over $20 USD and he'll get $15 USD off. So it's a win/win with no downside. Also, pick up the Adagio libraries for an additional $8 USD ( I just did that earlier today; but frankly, I am out of space and will need a new hard drive to download it!). All you have to do is use 8Dio's chat and tell them (it always seems to be Thomas) about the deal and he'll email you a link. It's super easy and an incredible deal, IMO.

  17. If someone can't write banging tunes and create good music using Cakewalk, i don't think it is the DAW to be fair

  18. I deleted all my aax plugins because I had no use for them and they were taking up space. Now whatumigonna do? Good thing I have no use for Pro Tools.

  20. Based on Tonex CS actual behavior and information from the IK Website, the 20 that are included in CS are considered owned by the filter [Owned = Yes]. They are Premium Tone Models as opposed to User Tone Models. If I select "Free Tone Model" none of the 20 are shown regardless of whether Owned = Yes or Owned = No. That's because I have not downloaded any of the 20 User Tone Models I am allowed with the CS version. As I see it, there is potential confusion because "Free" is used (1) in reference to the Free Tonex CS license and (2) in reference to User Tone Models.

  21. It depends what you expect from the DAW. Each has some benefits and consequences. Cakewalk has almost everything a DAW can provide. So I will just mention "weak" sides of it. I mean if nothing from the following is in your "must have"/"must be simple" list, Cakewalk will serve you well: MIDI FX in Cakewalk is DX only. While all other support VST. That means pure MIDI processors (chord generators, arpeggiators, etc.) can't be MIDI track FX. Corresponding VST plug-in will be "an instrument" in Cakewalk and that requires additional routing and has some other difficulties. control surfaces do not support Cakewalk explicitly. Some can be used with Mackie emulation, other with DIY solutions. Cakewalk has real-time engine only (some other DAWs can "cheat" with playback tracks). So computer should be audio optimized to allow recording with in DAW monitoring (f.e. with amp sim) and the set of plug-ins used on other tracks can influence effective latency. CbB is Windows only. unlike X2, CbB has no license key based authorization nor can it run under Wine. Unlike Platinum it requires periodic re-authorization. So theoretically in case of EOL there can be problems using it. But such problem exists with all DAWs (except REAPER).

  23. Thanks, guys. You steered me in the right direction. Turns out I needed to reauthorize my iZotope plugins for the new computer. Once I did that, everything is fine. Thank you so much!!

  24. I heard that due to Warren's success, some other producers got together and tried to launch a rival site to PLAP. However, they struggled to get many people to sign up for Produce Like Other Pro's.

  26. That's great man, congrats. 99% of the folks making music never get to the stage of having it heard on TV...you're part of a very select club. Once you've had like 100 placements some of the novelty of hearing them on TV will start to wear off though 😃. The new Export module is fantastic, although I had to persuade Noel to add the export by folder option - IDK if you've had to deliver stems yet but it it makes it super easy for those of us that need to. Love the Arranger too but I mostly use it to define the Export area of my track so the Alt Mixes will always be the exact same length. PM me if you want to chat Libaries, I'll tell you which ones have sucked for me !

  27. Wow, this is like the old days of PA sales. Picked up SPL Iron for $10.99. They seem to be hitting different price points: $10 voucher, no minimum $25 voucher, $39 minimum ($14 net spend) $20 voucher, no minimum $20 voucher, $29 minimum ($9 net spend) I appreciate that they're not playing games with the pricing and minimum spends like they used to (where the minimum spends were just over the costs of single plugins, requiring buying two plugins to qualify). And there are plenty of selections at multiple price points. Thanks, Dirk!

  29. And you know 100x more than I do about mixing! But yeah, it's really valuable to have folks talk about their experiences -- good and bad -- with plugins (and libraries) and what they think is really useful for certain applications. Often, I see posts from people way more knowledgeable than me on mixing -- like you -- and I read what they wrote and try stuff out. I just want to make sure people realize that when they're making those posts, they have a value beyond what they may realize. So please, everyone keep sharing your thoughts and geeking out. A lot of times when people post something is a great deal, like a compressor, I'm wondering if it might be useful tome, so when someone writes about the kind of applications where they use it, it's often very helpful in my early research process to determine if I should be spend money on it. Unrelated, I have been listening to this song again and again and Polyphia has become my new standard for my music -- consequently, I'll be selling everything off this weekend. I kid, I kid.

  35. Try increasing the MIDI "Prepare Using" Buffer under Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording. I believe the default is 50ms. My desktop DAW with ASIO runs fine at 20, but my slowest laptop with WASAPI needs 100.

  41. I hope they fixed how absolutely unstable product was. Although pro tools is absolutely garbage for midi production, if it is stable, this is a great way to learn pro tools for those with interest in working at/with studies that use PT.

  46. This is working on the app itself it's part of the big picture for Cakewalk. You might not use the Pro channel but many of us do... And to reach for third party plugins all the time is cool but it's taxing on the CPU at times with certain plugins... the Pro channel is one of the reasons I still use Cakewalk and the Arranger without these 2 things right now I would leave cakewalk for good and not look back. I do urban music mostly and to not have a built in sampler is a pain in my side for Cakewalk especially since the Bandlab Online App has one but we can't get one for Cakewalk it just frustrates me to no end... No matter how many request come in for this feature. The features I am asking for they have done before on the stand alone eqs they have had for years all I'm asking is for them to implement those things in what we currently have will they do it probably not but this is what request are for so they know what we want. I don't think people understand what feature request is sometimes on this forum.. the Bakers put this here to see what we want to add to the DAW there are many things that need to be done but the things I am asking for will help everyone be more efficient and faster with mixing and mastering. There have been countless times that others and I have posted what we want as a request and people say the Bakers don't need to focus on that I don't get it.

  49. Mix sounds great. Playing is very good. Like the others, I like the laid back groove of the original. On the Get Back documentary, it was very interesting to see Lennon kind of slap out the intro on his Casino. It was an ah ha moment on own he got that intro sound.

  50. Big thumbs up for the Tyrell N6 from u-he... Great sound, quite a few free presets available, and it's skinnable. It's not quite as good as Zeta+2, but it's really close (and free!) It's a" must have" freebie. If you find a sound that seems a bit flat, just turn on the Chorus at the bottom and instant epic fatness 😍
