  2. AGAIN - please add mouse wheel scrolling to the input/output dropdown lists I use x32 card with 32 inputs and 32 outputs. I have to tediously mouse click to scroll the input/output list (because the "more instinctive" and convenient mouse wheel scrolling is not implemented). Thank you!

  6. You have to wonder if those morons were born that stupid or if they had to practice. Funny you should mention The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. I had that very book on my bookshelf in the barracks at Fort Bragg. My Platoon Sergeant and Platoon Leader had a cow when they saw it and told me to get rid of it. With the utmost in courtesy and while maintaining my military bearing and discipline, I told them to go piss up a rope. I of course didn't use those exact words but my meaning was clear. First, I showed them where the price tag was still on it from where I had bought it at the Stars and Stripes bookstore on post when I was in Germany. I then mentioned some of the things about my own ancestry and asked them if they had ever been to Dachau. I said that I had. And that it was very eerie. And all the more eerie when you're looking around and wondering if maybe some of your distant relatives had been murdered there. I asked those two idiots how come they had never heard of this book before because it's only the definitive history of the Third Reich. I looked that stupid lieutenant dead in the eye and said point blank "didn't you go to West Point sir? You didn't have to read this book there? With all due respect sir, what exactly did they teach you there?" Then I quoted George Santayana to them. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. You know where I saw that? On the wall at Dachau." Mad as they got, they couldn't do anything to me and I kept my book.

  7. + 1,000,000 for comedy music!!! True Story: I remembered Billy The Mountain from one of the Fillmore East Concerts I went to (the night before Zappa met and played with John Lennon). But it wasn't on the Mothers at the Fillmore East. I had to wait until the Just Another Band album and of course all the local flavoring was very different from what I remembered (California-based instead of East Coast-based). So finally, this year, the 50th anniversary edition of the Fillmore East album came out. The set lists confirmed my memory! 🙂

  8. I'm hoping e-cue was being sarcastic, but nothing surprises me nowadays. To be clear, people can spend their money however they want, but not buying Voxengo plugins will not have any effect on the war. Innocent Russian civilians should not be treated like this, they are held hostage by their government.

  15. Thank you Milan for understanding. Dear e-cue, if you just do not want to buy something from Russia, I think you should try Sound Theory Gullfoss. There are a lot of great programers in Ukraine (I'm very happy with Spark mail client), but I do not remember any audio software developers. But I do not think you can support the war, buying a software for $55 from USA Reseller.

You should always start a new thread when you have a question and when you do give details. It speeds up the troubleshooting to have some clues to what your system, audio interfaces etc are.

  20. There's NO chance I'm going to try this one! I like too many genres (except the bulk of Country and Rap which I combine into the genre "CRap" though, to be fair, there are even small bits of each that I still like). Although I've spent MANY hours just distilling genres and subgenres down so I could categorize my music (over 360,000 tracks currently), I think I would find it hard just to reduce things down to my favorite ten genres let alone albums! 😮 Heck, even whittling down the over 160 Tangerine Dream albums down to my ten favorites would be tough! I just did a quick check on a TD playlist I have of my favorite albums and it has 14...

  22. Which reminds me... A few years ago, I was reading The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and I made the mistake of taking my copy to work to read during my breaks. My supervisor soon called me into her office - apparently, people had complained. I wasn't sure what troubled me the most. The irony - that I had to hide an unquestionably ANTI-***** book because some people jumped to the wrong conclusion. I mean, the author of the book was censored by the *****, and ***** would have had it burned - is that really the side you want to be on? There was the fact that by hiding it, I was actually somehow confirming those people’s impression that this was some kind of pro-***** book. There’s the fact that anti-Semitism is one of the things which I have absolutely zero tolerance for. It's instinctual. Like violence against women and children - I cannot bear the thought... There’s the fact that none of those people who actually jumped to conclusions and believed that this was a bad book had the guts to walk up to me and say that they would not tolerate ***** propaganda. Is that all they are ready to do against fascism? Anonymous complaints? Granted the cover can be misleading - but if I saw something like that on a desk at work and thought it was an actual ***** book, you can be sure I would walk right up to that person and verify... There is the fact that this is a classic history book, first published in the 60’s, which has sold more copies for the Book-of-the-Month Club than any other book in the club's history, millions of copies - a book that is more relevant than ever - but which should be hidden according to those clueless ignorants. Then there’s the simple fact that they jumped to conclusion and that nothing was, is being, or will be done to set the record straight by my supervisor…

  24. Suske Quartett - Beethoven Complete String Quartets. Unlucky Morpheus - Vampir EP Black Sabbath - Paranoid Rush - 2112 KISS - Creatures of the Night The Beatles - Abbey Road Elvis Presley - That's the Way it is Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion David Bowie - Low Alice Cooper - School's Out Of course, that's today - the list would be different next week, or even later tonight. The one thing that would not change is that there would always at the very least be some version of Beethoven's late string quartets. I'm also taking these as a special holiday bonus. Can't imagine a life without them.

  26. One of the many ways I use GPro is to get drum midi loops. Once you download the GP file I export to a midi file and open in my DAW and if you find a drum groove you like, split it into a 2,4 or 8 bar midi file and then save it. I have hundreds saved, even from songs I do not really like. This is great for drum fills too. Once you get it in your DAW you can manipulate it to your heart's content. I assume you can still do this in GP 8, I'm still on 6. If I can find a good Guitar Pro file of a song I like I also create backing tracks to practice learning the guitar parts for. Ultimate Guitar.com has some good ones on the site along with some shitty ones also.

  29. You will need a drum VST that you can load your samples into. Cakewalk does not include this, so you will need to get one from a 3rd party. Anything that you can load samples into and trigger from a MIDI controller would work, but some are dedicated to drums. Here is a pretty basic drum sampler for free. It seems to be quite popular! https://decomposer.de/sitala/ Sitala is a free drum plugin and standalone app: Sitala‘s beauty is simplicity. It‘s fast and musical. Six knobs. Sixteen pads. Drag and drop. Playable like instrument. And for non-percussion samples there is the free Grace sampler: https://www.onesmallclue.com/ Grace is a stable and compact sampler with a great streamlined workflow and a strong feature set. https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2015/09/14/grace-sampler-free/ https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2010/09/28/bpb-freeware-studio-best-free-vsti-samplers/

  34. I wouldn't limit it to EDM. I think it falls into the "sound design" category, one that you can use to mutate a real instrument into something unreal. Probably not for straight-up rock. But maybe more for progressive, electronic styles. As a synth guy I always look at these type of things as tools to turn everything into a synthesizer. The initial instrument is just a wave generator. Even a piano! From the AAS manual: Objeq Delay is a creative effect processor based on the combination of an acoustic filter and a delay unit. The input signal is first processed through acoustic resonators such as drumheads, strings, plates, and bars and a traditional filter module allowing to add acoustic resonances to the sound and change its timbre. The signal is then sent to a versatile stereo delay allowing for the creation of complex rhythmic patterns or echo effects. Objeq Delay is entirely based on Applied Acoustics Systems (AAS) physical modeling technology and uses no sampling nor convolution algorithms. Sound is processed by solving, on the fly, mathematical equations modeling the different types of resonators and effect components.

  39. Theres a setting in Kontakt you might want to check too. I have had to uncheck this box as described below in addition to changing the zero controllers setting in cakewalk. Here is the info from the NI site- https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003479549-KONTAKT-s-Volume-Resets-When-I-Press-Play-in-my-DAW KONTAKT's Volume Resets When I Press Play in my DAW Symptom - KONTAKT's Instrument volume is reset when you press play or stop in your DAW. Cause - Some DAW's are configured to send MIDI commands CC7 and CC10 when you press play or stop. KONTAKT can be configured to respond to these standardized commands to reset the loaded Instrument's volume. Solution Follow these steps to prevent KONTAKT from reacting your DAW's play / stop commands: Load an instance of KONTAKT in your DAW. Load an Instrument to KONTAKT's Rack. Press the wrench button on the upper left side of your KONTAKT Instrument. Click Instruments Options. In the Controller tab, disable the option Accept Standard Controllers for Volume and Pan. You can alternatively configure your DAW not to send the standard MIDI commands CC7 and CC10 when pressing play or pause. To learn how to do so, please consult your DAW's documentation.

  40. The sounds are not the greatest in GP, but some are recoverable with certain FX. Best bet is to compose and use the file to feed a VSTi that is adequate (i.e., edit in a DAW). A lot comes down to your preferred work flow. There are a truckload of good free VSTis out there, some only need proper FX applied to make them more than adequate.
