  2. Sairam Gudiseva 3rd period Never has a man influenced physics so profoundly as Niels Bohr in the early 1900's. Going back to this time period, little was known about atomic structure; Bohr set out to end the obscurity of physics. However, things didn't come easy for Bohr. He had to give up most of his life for physics and research of many hypothesis. But, this is why you and I have even heard of the quantum theory and atomic structures. Bohr came up with his quantum theory while studying at Cambridge. Bohr was a skeptic and he never truly believed in Max Planck's old quantum theory. He put forth the idea that, going from one high-energy orbit to a lower one, an electron could, in fact, be trying to emit a quantum of discrete energy. Bohr was criticized for this idea, but he didn't let up. Soon after, Bohr said his famed quote. "If quantum mechanics hasn't shocked you, you haven't understood it yet." This quote is extremely famous and has gone down as the motto for quantum physicist around the world. Understandably, Bohr never won a Nobel prize outside of physics (of which he only won one). Bohr's still going strong with his theories on atomic structure; he allowed for 100's of scientists to fully experiment with the cell and its many components. Bohr was largely on the run from the *****'s when he came up with this which is amazing because around this time, Bohr's home country of Denmark was invaded by the *****'s. Bohr and Ernest Rutherford are given credit, but it is believed that Rutherford decided to desert Bohr in the middle of their work. Rutherford once, quite famously said that you should never bet against the wonders of science. Niels Bohr's famous career never really kicked off until he was forty years old. Most other major scientists were going all over the world with their ideas by their early twenties. However, in order to preserve the legacy of Niels Bohr, he has his own institution, whose goal is to make many more great strides in the field of physics for years. How did Bohr affect you and me? Without Niels Bohr's more advanced atomic theory, we might as well cry over how little we know of the atoms and their compounds. Physics would have never been such a force in the today's society. However, to this day, research is still going on to improve and update the atomic theory. Although scientists clearly want to improve on Bohr's theory, many famous physicists come out publicly and openly say that Bohr's ideas will never be improved upon, today's society cannot say goodbye to an opportunity to improve our understanding of the sciences. If Bohr never had silenced his critics, we would still be following Planck's theories, and going on incomplete information. Bohr's later life was all occupied when he decided to go back to Denmark and head the Royal Danish Academy. His main goal was to tell the world of the of the greatness of the Danish Sciences and most likely educate a new crop of scientists for years to come. There is controversy surrounding Bohr's life during his stint in the Manhattan project. Though he claimed to be anti-violence and a peace seeker, Bohr engineered on the Manhattan Project. Though he didn't hurt anyone directly, thousands of people died. Neils Bohr opened many doors for you and I in the physics world, he will go down as one of the greatest physicists. wait for it...

  8. Cakewalk has build-in MIDI arp. In addition to "usual" for arps sequences, it can use custom note sequences as the basis. The only supported format for these sequences is PTN. Cakewalk by itself can load PTN files, as MIDI clips and as a part of arp configuration. Cakewalk also can save arp configuration (including the pattern) into ARP files. But for some (which?) reason Cakewalk can't create PTN files nor extract them from ARP files. The following utility tries to provide missed functionality. It is command line program which accept single file name as the argument: if the argument has an extension "arp" (or "ARP"), it tries to extract PTN file from it. The extraction is verbatim (PTN files are saved "as is" in ARP files) if the argument has an extension "mid" (or "MID"), it tries convert it into PTN file. Note that conversion is not "1 to 1", only Notes, Wheel and CC events are converted and all other parameters in resulting PTN file are constant (I don't know what they specify). In my tests that is sufficient for arp operations, please let me know if I have overseen something (I mean the result does not work as expected) Background information about PTN files. PTN are "Project 5" proprietary format to store MIDI clips. In general it seems like the format support all information in MIDI clips (and some extra, f.e. flam). But only a part of that information is used by Cakewalk arp. Converting MIDI clip into PTN. Prepare a MIDI clip, by loading existing PTN file (f.e. File/Import/MIDI..., select "P5 pattern" as file type) or from scratch. Original tempo will be reproduced with 1/32 setting in the arp (note that factory ARP do not follow that rule, so even if you load PTN extracted from an ARP into the same ARP, the tempo can be different). The first note defines the "origin" for transposing the whole clip according to actual note on the track. Select the clip. File/Export.../MIDI groove clip. Use the utility with created MID file name as parameter.

  11. It looks like Melda Production has gotten the ball rolling with their plan for "premium instruments" to be run in MSoundFactory -- the first is called: DreamMachines From the site: If you own MSoundFactory or MSoundFactoryLE, you can download DreamMachines (and any future Melda premium instruments) for free. Otherwise, it costs €69 to buy and run in the free MSoundFactory Player, but is on sale for €19 until October 15th. There's also a 15-day free trial. Not mentioned there, but in MSoundFactory, there's also a Meldway Grand piano that (a) also appears to be free to install, (2) is still in beta, (C) is a 40GB(!) download and (iv) is separate from the free-to-all Monastery Grand piano released a while back.

  13. This is going to help me do stoopid things on YouTube for $29. Cheap. If you want to do this on a pro level, Krotos has Dehumaniser 2, which was used for Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Jungle Book, Game of Thrones, The Conjuring, Stranger Things, etc. That lists for $399, which isn't a bad price, considering how good it is. And there are sales. BF is coming soon. It also has a free demo. https://www.krotosaudio.com/dehumaniser2/ But overkill for me farting around on YouTube. If you are looking for very high quality, you can safely cross Simple Monsters off your list.

  18. ROTFLMAO! Check my forum history, both here and on the old forum, and ask anyone who's been around here for a while about my ability to tease meaning from inadequate problem descriptions and solve problems. Also note that Mark acknowledged and fixed this issue only after I clarified how to reproduce it. In any case, you needn't worry yourself about my compreshension as I won't be reading or responding to any more of your posts. Cheers, Dave

  20. Indeed and if used properly, creatively they can be great song idea starters .. also chopping, slicing dicing them. Cakewalk MATRIX might be a good thing for noodling with these Speaking of loops - I have had an annual sub for LOOPCLOUD. Its great, but not making the use of it enough. Just cancelled the annual sub due up next month €110. Ill admit as well as less use a big reason is the cost of living rises .. have cut a few things already. Energy prices in Europe are just off the wall so something has to go to unfortunately. Lots of this here this winter inc streaming services cuts, less plugin purchases etc

  22. I've managed to reproduce the issue when the clip is close to zero, and you move 10ms right then attempt to move 10ms left. It's now fixed for the next release. The issue was that because the clip is in musical time, but the nudge is in absolute time, it has to temporarily convert the clip start time to seconds to check it can move to the left. However, the start time is coming back as a clip start of 0.0099999999 seconds rather than 0.010 seconds. As it thinks this would result in moving to a time less than zero, it abandons the operation.

  27. I could implement multi-file support, GUI, DnD, etc... but I have decided to keep it "simple", at least for the moment. The utility is so small that calling it for single files from batch/gui wrapper should take almost no time. With advantage it is simpler to analyze when particular file fails. for /R %f in (*.arp) do <path to>\cakearp "%f" called from a copy of "Cakewalk Core" took around 5 second to extract all ARP files I have. PS. well, if for whatever reason you still think that is useful... the utility accept any number of arguments now.

  28. I had gathered the majority of PA’s items over the various years and sales. Hadn’t picked up anything new for a while until a couple months ago when I grabbed their three AMEK products. Outside of the AMEK items I was in PA burn-out mode like many of the comments above - even though there are some very good items I already have. The AMEK products I recently picked up are great. I’ve used them on my last couple songs and they are keepers for regular use. Kind of “wow!” My input - if you don’t have the AMEK items yet go look into them.

  39. Perfect timing. I was just looking at the Kontakt Player manual and choosing either Player or Komplete Start (which includes the player). Considering that my workflow is so ingrained with the E-Mu experience (hardware more so, software to a lesser extent) it seems like I would be frustrated trying to use Kontakt as a substitute. I have experience with the hardware and E-Mu sysex and can often find ways of doing things beyond the conventional. In fact, I recently put my Proteus 2500 (16 fully assignable knobs + 16 assignable trigger buttons + sequencer etc.) back into service as a hardware controller for Voltage Modular. I have other options for using Emulator X3 on an older PC (if the authorization hasn't disappeared) as well as hardware. Again, thanks for the comments. For people who are already into the Kontakt ecosystem, the DSF bundle sounds like an excellent deal. They have solid credentials! BTW, a few months ago, I saw the re-invented in-brands/AIR Music Technology was also offering DSF sounds. Just mentioning that to show new things have been happening with DSF. Not recommending AIR over Kontakt at all.
