  1. August 22nd, 2022: Plugindoctor v2 has been released! Including one big new feature a lot of users have been asking for: Plugindoctor is now available as a plugin itself. This means you can load Plugindoctor as a plugin in your favourite DAW and stream your audio material through the plugin(s) that you load while at the same time giving them the thorough Plugindoctor treatment that you are used to. With v2 it is now much easier to directly hear what those changes in the curves are actually doing. Even more good news: Plugindoctor v2 is a free update for all owners of a v1 license! https://ddmf.eu/

  3. As above. https://www.meldaproduction.com/downloads Note: Even though the download page for V16.00 plugins state that this version “Includes 32-bit and 64-bit plugins”, the “Changes” page states "Also note that V16 no longer provides 32-bit plugins on Windows". This dependency should be corrected soon. I performed an install of V16.00 and indeed, 32bit plugins were not offered.

  5. I'm just saying, you never know. 😀 Here's the story on Komplete 7. This was apparently leaked on some forum.🤔 It may be bogus. In addition to the big news of the full screen HiDPI browser, there are two new effects--Psyche Delay and Ring Modulator. Plus "Factory Library 2" And here's the link to the VI:Control discussion. https://vi-control.net/community/threads/kontakt-7-leak.128982/

  6. Aight gentlemen let's calm down now. We're all adults here, no need to fight over a piece of software. Meanwhile, needless to say, REAPER is by far the greatest DAW of all time, and there isn't any real reason for other DAWs to exist anymore.

  10. as noted in your other thread on this topic you should spend some time to learn how to edit midi - note durations, grid, etc. if you enter a note which is 1/8, and need it to be 1, then stretch it. pretty basic. this is an area where a few minutes of reading the manual and some practice it will become second nature.

  11. Sheesh, the hours - no, days - wasted on the original DOOM for DOS. Back in the day I'd pack up my desktop computer and haul it over to a friend's house where we'd network our computers and play DOOM all day long. He lived in a high rise apartment building, and when leaving after a marathon session I noticed that when the elevator door opened I reflexively stepped to one side as if expecting an imp to step out. Not to brag, but I was unstoppable in deathmatch, even against the Microsoft guys who apparently did nothing else at the office all day except play DOOM. You don't want to go head-to-head with a piano player in a keyboard-controlled game. At my last real job in the 90's, I made a DOOM map of the campus where I worked. The boss found out about our game sessions and tasked me with writing a program that would seek out and destroy all games from employees' computers. Which I happily did. It freed up a lot of bandwidth for the IT department, resulting in better framerates for our own sessions. Despite my onetime obsession with DOOM, Duke Nukem, Shadow Warrior, Redneck Rampage, etc. I've had no interest in run 'n gun shooters for some time. Skyrim ruined those types of games for me. Nowadays it's gotta be an open world, story-driven and strategic. Preferably one that supports modding.

  15. That's a tough call! Waveform has always been a special teams player for me. A backup DAW for special projects and experiments. I have run across a few Traction bugs over the years, especially with certain plugins. But I give huge credit to the very small and always determined Tracktion development team for pushing a DAW forward that is focused mainly on musicians, rather than engineers! YMMV. Reaper is probably the most stable DAW I've experienced, with some of the best track routing features I have ever seen. But the workflow has cut it from my starting team. It's my backup when I can't accomplish something elsewhere. Always very reliable! I am now seeing Studio One as my main go to these days, but with a fond spot for Cakewalk and Sonar, which after 20+ years, I just grab CbB first sometimes to try out an idea. Muscle memory, LOL. You are best when you use what works for YOU!. Don't listen to anyone else, especially me! 🤪

  16. I'd suggest checking out these free ones: https://worshiptutorials.com/product/acoustic-ir-sample-pack/ http://acousticir.free.fr/spip.php?rubrique2 Fishman Aura IRs https://www.dropbox.com/sh/f2qdh9jtcl6s5cv/AACRlEt-UVeLAhuvV4YwMY7Wa?dl=0 I have a Taylor 814ce with a Fishman Matrix in it. THere are some Martin D28s in the acoustic ir link that make my Talyor actually sound more like a Martin, the Fishmain Aura actually has an 814ce that used my same system so that is pretty spot on (I also own an actual Fishman Aura also). And the worship tutorial with the 816 is pretty good too. It can take some experimenting but the primary factor is using a capture that used the same pickup type you use. You can use any IR loader. I actually bought a FS07 so I could easily do live shows or plug and play into a recording interface. But using something like the Audio Assault IR loader is even better as it allows longer impulse times, better gain and processing controls. But seriously night and day difference between this method and the Nembrini plugin (even using totally free IRs and IR loaders and plugins) for a natural recorded tone.

  17. (Crossposted in the Deals subforum because there's not 100% overlap in readers) @scook (who else?) has unearthed a file that I've been searching for for literally years: The Alesion Arps . He's been kind enough to host it for download by the Cakewalk user community. The link is to the top level of Steve's page, because it has a bunch of other stuff that Cakewalk users should know about. It's the first link on the page. These were created in the late (lamented by many) Project5, by a user identified only as "b rock." The website goes into greater detail about the theory behind the creation (and possible application) of these patterns. They were apparently derived from the patterns built into an (unnamed) Alesis hardware synth. To install them for use with Cakewalk, place the Alesion ARP Presets folder from the .ZIP in your C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\Arpeggiator Patterns\ folder. The next time you start Cakewalk and open the built-in arpeggiator's preset browser, you'll see the new folder, and within it will be 33 subfolders, each with 15 or more new arpeggiator patterns to use. Wish we could edit them, but for now we can at least double the number of ones available to us.

  20. I thought this might interest the old people here, ie. everyone. https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/doom-64 Apparently this is a standalone game and a direct sequel to Doom II, not a console port of either of the original games. It has new levels, new enemies, new everything. It's made by a different team than other Doom games, but people on Reddit seem to think it's honestly a good game.

  21. same story for me. I'd spent silly money on an aresline xten to try and it did nothing for long hours except aggravate my back, so I bought an aeron miller in 2012 in size C (large) which gave me the extra height I needed for my feet to rest comfortably on the ground. 10 years in and my back has been much better and this thing still looks (and feels) like new despite 8+ hours a day for 10 years. rock solid investment all ways around for me.

  25. The Beauty Is in Chaos The recent digital world tends to line up everything. That makes things predictable and... well, boring. The beauty of life is in chaos and randomness of unexpected. And Verbum Entropic Hall reflects that which makes it one of the most realistic reverbs out there. https://unitedplugins.com/VerbumEntropicHall/

  35. That looks UNC - I don't have a network to try that on (easily) but my guess is it's related to that, and that you can't browse over a UNC path. That said, the folders CbB uses are per user, so it should be possible to set that up to the user's home directory (batch script if necessary on logon), so that is a base location rather than the local projects folder.

  39. I'll echo all the above, much enjoyed. One little crit, I think you should bump up the output level a bit. A little judicious limiting wouldn't hurt the recording a bit. (then I wouldn't have had to pull the volume down on the next tune; ouch) t

  47. Wow, 8.1? Brave choice. Whatever we might say in public about Windows 10, recent releases DEFINITELY improved app scaling and support, so I hate to say it but an upgrade in your case might be... an upgrade with respect to screen scaling.
    1 point
  48. You describe Cakewalk's scaling problem with current hi-res/hi-DPI screens correctly. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find a good compromise with that screen size and resolution. There are some small mitigations that you can try with Windows' High DPI settings on the Cakewalk shortcut, I think they were described earlier in this thread. As I created this thread, I thought a lot of people would have problems with it, but surprisingly many don't. For example, the people responding in this thread are either using very large screens (32") or lower resolutions, creating situations where you don't need scaling. Then there are probably also those who don't care or notice if things are a bit blurry as well... Noel from Bandlab said a couple of years ago that they are aware of it: "This is a known issue and we have plans of gradually addressing it. Its not impossible but its a significant amount of work for the UI to fully handle DPI scaling in the app"
