  1. Wow. Been sitting on a AT5 SE serial I picked up for $10 on KVR. That’ll get me all the new kits in MODO Drums, all the new features (and the punk bass) in MODO Bass, and Fame Reverb. Happy days.

  2. Based on the description, I'm guessing I'll stick with my old installers. Not interested with "connecting with artists, etc" Just want a super bare bones player that isn't trying to connect with the internet in any way shape or form.

  3. Agreed. I think at the least, ik should be working with APD to facilitate refunds for those who only bought modo drums to join the promo.

  5. Just got my response... Since this is a discounted purchase from Audio Plugin deals it does not qualify for the MEGA bogo Promotion. So... whether APD were slow with the update on the website or not , the faq on the IK website did not state this VERY specific term at all. If it had done, I wouldn't have made the purchase (and just to annoy further, my modo drum no longer works due to the reasons mentioned in the other thread). Would happily have a refund for that instead. Have sent my thoughts back to IK on this one. And sure, they can reserve the right to change the terms of the promotion, but they have to tell people they're doing so! That's why you have a terms and conditions page which can be updated. It comes across as unprofessional and a little shady to say we can change the terms whenever we want without actually telling anyone what you have changed. Even the new talk of the value of the qualifying product now has to be equal to what was originally paid for the product is changing the goal posts again, and is not what is set out in the terms of the promotion. Modo drum SE has a specifc value, and the terms do not stop you from registering a discounted item. So why isn't that honoured? And historically it has never been an issue before when using a discounted product in one of the group buys, so why is it now? Pretty disappointing tactics really. In my line of work, when promos aren't set up correctly from the start, the company takes the hit. Not the customer.

  6. IKM support confirmed the following: Purchases from Thomann Music qualify for the promotion. Products purchased at a discount are still valued at the IKM website price for determining your free qualifying products. So I can purchase the Modo Bass 2 upgrade from Thomann for $144 and select three free products with IKM website prices up to $199.

  9. Thought this was a good deal, so I've just purchased and registered Modo Drum 1.5 SE from Audio Plugin Deals (FAQ does state purchases from authorised resellers do count for the promo). Doesn't seem to have qualified though, so I've raised a ticket with IK.

  14. 100% agreed on the above. This could have been (and still could be) an opportunity for IK to do the right thing, accept responsibility, and build customer loyalty at very little cost to them.

  15. @Peter - IK Multimedia I feel IK should at least honor the terms of the promo before it got changed today midday. It's not really the customers fault they were able to find a discounted product included in the promo on another site.

  17. That's IK changing the rules during the promotion which is very questionable because they didn't ask APD to add a disclaimer beforehand and could have easily waited with the BOGO until the AudioPlugIn Deal was over. From IKM website: The promotion applies to new purchases from the beginning of the promotion only (product transfers and products received as giveaways are ineligible). Nothing about discounted product not counting for the IK 4-for-all Mega BOGO, only product transfers and giveaways are inelligible.

  18. I wasn't making fun of you, I was simply thinking about the deal. But after @Paul Cohen's post, I'm good and a little relived. IK got enough of my $$ during the GB! 😉

  19. The APD deal is sadly a no-go for this promotion - here's the email reply I received back: "It does not qualify as MODO DRUM 1.5 was heavily discounted via AudioPlugIn Deals. So it can not overlap with our current promotion" I suggested further clarifications were needed, and IK replied that they had reached out to APD to add a disclaimer to the deal page...so hopefully that helps others avoid this confusion.

  21. My understanding is that a dealer is someone who gets their product straight from the manufacturer, whereas a reseller is basically anyone (besides the manufacturer) who sells the product. Since Audio Plugin Deals most likely get their keys from IK and not from some unauthorized sources, I'd say they qualify as dealer. Some dude on KVR on the other hand, probably not. But what do I know.

  23. I cannot check right now, but I believe I'm on this version as well. No reason to change. As for the new Winamp...I actually think this is very clever and interesting. There's an entire generation of people who instantly recognizes the name. What if...and this is not going to happen but....what if is would be some combination of youtube / soundcloud / Spotify / Tunein (or whatever radio app) / Distrokid (or whatever distributor) etc. They talk about fair income for creators and releasing music, so there is a model behind this. I'm very curious as to how they are planning to market this and what it will be.

  26. Having waited on the 9.99 deal on Sunset Sound Reverb Collection Upgrade for MixBox (having the T-Racks version), I thought this would be a good time to do it and qualify for the $/€49.99 Entry Point, enabling me to get the three new MODO DRUM Kits. But surprise - the only bonus content in my dropdown lists is T-Racks Classic Equalizer! This doesn't seem right to me - not the way these kind of things have worked in the past. Edit - User error! - MODO DRUM SE 1.5 is in my IK account already. (three new kits included) I guess I forgot about getting it!

  30. He was well known and is credited as one of the starts of the boutique amp community. He didn't only make 4 amps. He only made a few of that particular model before he passed away way earlier than he should have. It is documented he made aroud 100 amps in total (across 3 models....the Rocket he only made 5 of) they were all hand build by him selecting each and every part including transformers (most of which he rejected) and that creates a very limited work stream. His amps were so valuable and saught after even during his lifetime (they sky rocketed after) that he even offered a triple your money back guarantee and not a single person took him up on it. And his amps due to the nature of the custom builds were not exaclty on the cheap end of the specturm, but they were fairly priced for the skill and labor. Billy Gibbons, Eric Johnson, Mark Knophler (still uses), Eddie Van Halen all placed orders while he was alive among a number of others. Brad Paisley, Warren Haynees, Keith Urban, Trey Anastasio and Joe Bonnamassa were also other notable owners that paid a premium for them. Not a bad list of buyers/owners for a company that made about 100 amps before the boutique amp craze was even a thing and a number of players bought a few of them. Most of the amps are owned by people you have never heard of but won't sell them becuase they like them too much even though they are worth tens of thousands of dollars even for the least desirable examples. Jim Marshall would call him asking for advice amoung many others. And other amp builders (including Howard Dumble) would actually request to be in booths at Trade shows away from Ken Fischer for fear it would hurt their own amp sales if heard in proximity. He was a highly regarded contributer at Vintage Guitar Magazine characterized by actual in depth technical knowledge not just the fluf that magazines have turned into. He also helped put the Klon on the map by simply giving it a somewhat favorable review and Klon even had this article on the website as a badge of honor (even though he critized the use of goop on the circut) The Komet brand was launched to use some of his design concepts but with components that did not need as much tweaking and hand selection. The Dr Z "Wreck" was also a colaboration around a similar idea. His design concepts but adapted for mass production. Unlike most amps on the market, to really get into the ball park of an actual trainwreck takes both the makers skill and a set of ears to select the specific components, not just a "capacitor of this value in this position." He could even diagnose amp problems and what to fix by hearing them played over the telephone (think about how terrible phone quality was). There are many stories of him telling a guitar player where to put the amp and to play and he would make recomendations to fix it and with what components. When you only make 100 amps, there is only going to be so many players that even get the opporutnity to hear one, let alone play it. The Express which is his most well known model was also one he didn't even like by the end of it. It just grew out of players wanting higher gain and a more "EVH" type of tone. He shared his knowledge freely and created quite a legacy for a very short life span with his own company. He was a legend and not becuase he created gooped circuits and a closed door policy (which is a claim to fame of other builders). It is unfortnaute so few people get to experience them.

  38. I'd agree with that - I read the faq, and thought it works this way (and have seen others buy IK products on other site deals and use them as qualifying products). Audioplugindeals have done a number of offers and freebies with IK, so presumed they are seen as an official dealer of IK software. So I was a little surprised when it didn't work, and I wouldn't have bought them otherwise (didn't need the extra kits over Modo 1), but guess I've been caught out on a selling technicality that was beyond my understanding! Will report back if I get a support reply.

  45. You seem to me to be falling victim to - the best word I can think of is numberitis. Looking at bare numbers on a spec sheet. Bare numbers don't tell you the whole story. The whole 20Hz - 20kHz range of human hearing is purely theoretical. Not only can nobody with any significant number of years behind them can really hear to those extremes, there really isn't much useful information towards the extremes anyway. You are much better off with a good microphone with a frequency range of "only" 30Hz - 15kHz than a crappy one with the whole 20 - 20K. Forget spec sheets. What do your ears tell you?
